  • It's so sad when they are next to the wall and their hands are pressed against it, as if they can feel each other's presense on the opposite side of the wall. They they both pull away, and it's the heart breaking moment when you realise they don't. :(

  • when the pan past her family and friends, mickey, for once, doesn't look jealous. i thank him for that.

  • I don't think I've ever seen something quite as totally heartbreaking as this. David Tennant's scream and his expression when Rose falls kills me every time I see it. And then the darkness in his eyes when he leans against the wall, like his entire self was pulled into the parallel universe with Rose and he's just a shell... it's seriously painful.

  • Enjoyed it at the time, but looking back - Rose was like the girl who won't take no for an answer... deleting her off facebook will usually solve it - but Rose will stalk you across time and space. Ewww.

  • The one scene in the whole of digital media that has the power to make me cry. RTD, I don't know how you do it, but you did it and I love and hate you for it. It's so beautiful, and I love you for that vut it's also tragic and I hate you for that. Why did Billie Piper have to leave?! WHY?!?!

  • Magical acting! In reality these actors are doing this to a wall. To us this is everything. Wow.

  • Billie's performance is just amazingly heart breaking.

  • Nothing will ever compare to this one scene in the history of Doctor Who. Ever!

  • @Rose99991000 how about Donna's death?

  • @killerpayney she is not dying, she is losing her memories, forgets the doctor

  • @mcjealus i feel like that's just as heartbreaking as this. though this is quite sad too.

  • @mcjealus yeah but unlike rose or martha, donna cant come back meaning donna noble is dead. only donna temple exists now

  • 2:28 Jaw dropping acting from Billie there. Absolutely unbelievably great.

  • The new series will NEVER beat RTD's series. This is beyond good, there aren't actually words to describe how well writen and acted this scene is.

  • This is so sad! David does such a good job of making the doctor look his age through his eyes. When the doctor lays his head against the wall/dimension that seperates rose and him his eyes look so ancient and sad. Like he has 900+ years of life and tons of pain and loss.

  • 2:02 david's scream literally rips my heart out and shreds it and crushes it and evaporates it yep

  • This is going to sound weird, but every time I need to cry. I watch this.

  • Bahaha, the Dalek at 0:30 that yells "I'm too young to die!" makes me laugh every time!

  • Ok, I am watching Doctor Who for the first time and this is so freaking sad. I am really going to miss her. *Sobs*

  • There was a scene in last night's Girl Who Waited with Rory and Amy and they had their hands and faces against different sides of the TARDIS. Funny how exactly the same thing can be soo different. In Doomsday I actually wept, it is so emotional and sad whereas last night I felt nothing. David and Billie are tremendous actors!

  • @CrazyBoutBillie Hi i got that parallel in 'the girl who waited' too....I thought i was the only one....I thought it was very sad...not doomsday heart ripped out of your chest sad, but i did cry for Rory/Amy...I see elements of the doctor/rose in them...ya know the devotion and 'only one' kinda love and i love Rory...He's such a sweetheart and always epic after "Shut up Hitler" LOL...The doctor surprised me though...He was cold...He must of been able to relate, but yet he was cold...very sad :((

  • Breathtakingly heart breaking :'(

  • i cry so hard i cant even breathe and that sounds dramatic and people are probz gonna be like "omg its just a show" but like that scene was just so well done like the way the doctor didn't say a word and like in later episodes when he meets donna for the first time and how he talks about rose and then when he meets martha its all "you cant replace rose" and its just so heartbreaking :\

  • 4 years later, I still cry. Every, single, time.

  • In a play I was in, I had to cry. I was told to think of the saddest thing I know. I thought of this, and it works

  • The saddest thing I've ever watched, Rose and the Doctor, to that point, had become more than tv characters to me, they made the whole thing, through both 2 series, so real that this scene is simply heartbreaking...

  • Russell is good to make such scenes, but he is splendid to ruin it again. Just my opinion.

  • Amazing acting from Billie Tyler at 2:29.

  • I have tried and tried to get into the Doctor and Amy situation, but I have never got that WOW factor about it. I think it's partly spoilt because Rory and Amy are together. It would be better if Amy fancied the doctor instead of a thick, insecure man!

  • I never look at this like it's a series, but a real life situation. ROSE AND THE DOCTOR FOREVER.

  • THIS should of been Rose's ending. Don't you think it would of been more heartbreaking when the 10th Doctor visits her again just before regenerating? Instead of hooking up with a clone? Blergh...

  • so far, martha is the only one without a tragic departure with the doctor in the new series

  • How could the lever be pulled back, it's hasn't even been in the void

  • @23Glee

guessin im a robot now... ITS NOT EVEN SAD

    she comes back mr douchebag

  • Comment removed

  • @23Glee

im saying that im not crying and its not sad

  • after watching this i feel like there is a whole in my heart. Doctor who has never moved me at all with doctor/amy. It makes me realise just how much i miss these two.

  • I never understand people who praise Matt and Karens acting and Moffats writing, I cant think of a scene in series 5 or 6 that is so powerful it makes everyone cry. Both actors are sensational, even without saying a word they make it sad :(

  • @CrazyBoutBillie Did you miss the scene where 11 was shot and killed during regeneration? The bit where the Doctor had to say goodbye to a manifestation of the TARDIS? The scene where the 11th Doctor walks into the cracks at the climax of Series 5? Amy losing the memory of Rory? The actual, brilliant cliffhanger ending of The Pandorica Opens? This is a good scene, granted, but there has been so much more in the newer series as a whole.

  • @Trayusstudent1 some people think there has been more tear jerking moments in the newer series and thats fine :) I just feel like there was soooo much more emotion in the RTD era, with some brilliant performances from the actors, scenes like: losing rose, losing donna, losing the master, Tens regeneration were all just beautiful whereas in the newer series I dont feel as connected to the characters and feel their hurt :L

  • @CrazyBoutBillie I think thats cos the new series is based more around the classic series themes. RTD did something different by bringing the characters families into it, now its just Amy and Rory and their families are barely mentioned.

  • @Trayusstudent1 yeah I agree :D I prefer the family element to it, I liked watching Wilf and Jackie and people like that because I thought it added something but if people like watching the companions only then fair do's. All I'm saying is I prefer the characters to have a history and a family :)

  • @CrazyBoutBillie fair enough :)

  • @CrazyBoutBillie i think with the newer series it's not about crying. it's about the happiness of adventure, and the sadness that comes with it that's more subtle. it's abit rude to be criticizing matt and karen's acting when they've done great jobs. moffat has a different style of writing that is equally as good as RTD's, but in different ways. i'm sure that both writers have nothing but respect for each other. but it's the fans that criticize one or the other when they dont deserve it

  • I remember watching this scene :( ... A Dr Who episode has never moved me more since then :(

  • I like Matt Smith but he will never EVER beat David Tennant. Best actor ever. When he screams I just burst into tears. :'(

  • What's horrible is that when Rose reaches for the lever, you can see it in the Doctor's face that he will lose her.

  • The people who say that the RTD series is nothing but melodrama are idiots! So far in the Steven Moffat series there has been no scenes as emotional and powerful like this.

  • Makes me cry every time I see this, it's the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen. Their acting skills are incredible.

  • This is one of the most heartbreaking scenes ever. All of Doomsday is. I've only managed to see it once, because it's so sad, and I cried so much. It's beautifully done, and David Tennant and Billie Piper do a phenomenal acting job, but it's just SO SAD!

  • David's scream actually makes me cry every time I watch this. I do like the new series - but there has been nothing at all close to this so far.

  • there has been nothing close to this in Matt Smith's Era , Nothing ...

  • as you can tell by my name on here im a big fan of rose tyler so i was devistated when i saw this

  • i love how the daleks make such a comical scream as they get sucked into oblivion.

  • without these two doctor who is just not the same anymore...

  • What is the name of this song?

  • @serpientesombria the song is called "doomsday" and its by murray gold. it's on the soundtrack

  • @tmofee thanks

  • Could the Doctor not have just brought the TARDIS up to the top floor and both of them could have ran in after pulling the switches, and been fine...

  • @davyjones800 Do keep in mind, the TARDIS had been through the void as well, and so would have been pulled in and therefore got stuck there when the breach closed.

  • @dponly That's funny - cos it was downstairs in this VERY building, yet Cybermen were being pulled to London from India - so the TARDIS was obviously locked in position - or The Doctor could take off the TARDIS quickly after putting the levers up...

  • @davyjones800 There's also no guarantee they would have made it into the TARDIS in time. But honestly, I think that's one of two possible plot holes in this episode. Why wasn't the TARDIS affected, and what about the Cybermen that were upgraded in that dimension and therefore DIDN'T cross the void.

  • @dponly well, the TARDIS can lock itself in place - like in The Stolen Earth, it was locked in position so when the Earth moved it stayed exactly where it was

  • David Tennant's screaming will make me remember this scene forever.

  • Cried my eyes out.

  • I'm a boy and I still cried when Rose and The Doctor got separated.I watch horror movies all the time, never get scared...I play gory video games, never get grossed out at the blood...

But THIS. Man, I got to say, this was so emotional and heartbreaking...I tried to hold back tears. Love this show :)

  • The Doctor doesn't cry or shout, but when you look in his eyes your heart begins to hurt! Just one expression!

    Amazing job David Tennant!

  • @kavtoM Yeah, David has an amazing talent for making his eyes look as if his soul had just been ripped out, and the writers made good use of it. He's one hell of an actor. And such a cutie, too.

  • the music is called 'Rose's theme

  • @langy71 Actually it's called "Doomsday". I have the song on my iPod along with "Rose's Theme" & "The Doctor's Theme". Silly mistake. (;

  • when the doctor is on the other side of the wall, knowing rose is on the other side is the most heartbreaking moment of all time :'(

  • this was number 1 in 5o ways to leave your tv lover i see why

  • 100th comment ;) I allways cry when David's screaming for her...:(

  • I want to give the Doctor a hug! Why do I torture myself with this video? So heartbreaking!! ;_;

  • The bit that breaks my heart is when David screams as she let's go. </3

  • Never fails to make me weep.

Definitely the saddest moment on TV EVER.

  • Poor Billie and David. This must've been tough on them :(

  • you know, im probably one of the few people who would have like rose's story to end there. instead of journey's end. bleh. just imagine how much more heartbreaking the end of time would have been if the doctor never got to see rose in journey's end. not every story has to conclude.

  • Oh the look on The Doctors face just makes me want to cuddle him and curl up and cry....oh I am a mess now. That poor little precious thing Bless his poor wonderful heart....that look those eyes the sadness the emotion...no words for it....

  • OH GOD! Why must I torture myself like this?!?! D':

  • Wouldn't the Doctor's past companions also be sucked into the void? Sarah Jane, Captain Jack Harkness, Jo Grant, etc.

  • @joevictor53 No because the void is not reacting to time travelers, it's reacting to universe jumpers (people that traveled from one universe to another) since they passed through the void (space between universes) and got stuck with void particles (the particles are what's actually being suck up).

  • @alextacalec Oh right, thanks. It's been years since I properly saw this episode. I forgot that it was sucking in universe jumpers.

  • sorry to break the mood, but just HOW THE HELL did Pete know to jump in at that EXACT spot in that EXACT moment to save Rose?

  • @BassGosple because pete is superman, duh XD

  • @Dfive7s Thanks for the mockery

  • @BassGosple In reality the reason I said that was because the first time I watched Doomsday one of my best friends shouted ''Yeah! I'm superman!'' when Pete jumped in to save Rose so its become a bit of a running joke with me and my friends. And when I saw your comment I just couldn't resist

  • @Dfive7s TBH i have to laugh thinking that now at least it cheers u up a bit before you start sobbing like a baby a few minutes after this scene.. i only have to watch that part and i'll bawl like a baby..

  • @BassGosple originally it was meant to be mickey, but russell realised it would mean more coming from the alt-father who never accepted her until then. and tbh, mickey can (and does) better :P

  • This is my favourite part of all Doctor Who.. It's incredibly sad and heartbreaking. Amazing acting.. and the music is just fantastic.

  • His scream breaks my heart

  • everytime I watch this, it shatters my heart :(

    its so sad :'(

  • Watching this scene always makes me think of the line from Blink:

    "And what's GOOD about sad?"

    "It's happy for deep people."

  • This is one of my favorite episodes ... but I never watch it, because this part always makes me cry!!! It's just... not fair! *sigh*

Why do we watch this show?

    Oh yeah, because it's brilliant.

  • She should have just let the switch move instead of letting go of the thing she was holding onto. It quit soon after anyway.

  • the first time i watched this i burst into tears and i misted her dad saving her and i thought she was dead!

  • i cry.

  • MUST FIND THIS 'BRILLIANT' MUSIC..... It's so... FANTASTIC !.....

  • @MultiCaspianPrince It's on the first soundtrack CD released from the rebooted show

  • MUST FIND THIS 'BRILLIANT' MUSIC..... It's so... FANTASTIC !.....

  • I MUST FIND THIS 'BRILLIANT' MUSIC..... It's so... FANTASTIC !.....

  • I MUST FIND THIS 'BRILLIANT' MUSIC..... It's so... FANTASTIC !.....

  • @MultiCaspianPrince It's called "The doctor's theme" ;)

  • I've seen this lots of times...and it always gets me harder than TITANIC did :(

  • this gets me every... single... time

  • Ok guys sorry to butt in but this was four years ago get over it! It was four years ago I know you guys thought David Tennant and Billie Piper were good together but this was four years ago get over it!

  • Bawling STILL, seen this so many times, it still rips my heart out, confound it you doctor who, separating my Doctor and Rose!

    ahhh

  • Oh God. I cried.

  • I almost forgot how brilliant this was....

  • Why can't the Dr go back in time?

  • @katiemay14 She's in a whole other parallel universe, she doesn't exist in the universe that he's in anymore.

  • billie piper and david tennant break my heart in this..

  • the saddest thing i've ever seen on TV

  • Still rips my heart out. Every Time.

  • when this was first shown on tv it made me cry so much :( still makes me all emotional lol x

  • The bit when she's crying and saying take me back a tear always comes! You can tell that she is so weak but so determined to go back!!

  • No matter how many times you watch this you always wish that she justs doesn't attepmt to get the lever! Also no matter how many times you watch this episode a tear always comes!

  • this scene and the one where Astid (Voyage of the dammned) are real tear jerkers for me :(

  • This is by far the most heartbreaking scene ever besides when David Left

  • This is one of the saddest, most heartbreaking scenes I have ever seen.

  • This scene makes me cry, every time I see it.

    And yes, I'm a guy o.o'

  • Doctor Who, Series Four, Episode 13, Song: The 'Goodbyes' (Murray Gold - Doomsday)

  • </3

  • This scene broke my heart :(

  • one of the saddest tv moments I ever have seen

  • what i' thinking while watching this in 06: 1oh good. they always find a way to save everything. 2. oh no.. that rose better hang on. they wouldn't actually kill her? 3. hang on!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4. roooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooossssssssssssssssssssssseeeeee!

  • yeah it is one of the saddest tv moments in television history and i think the quality of that was really up to standard and i tyoed in: rose goes into the void dr who

and i watched lots hoping it would be from when they opened the void to when she left the wall and that is what i got from you so thank you for posting this please post as many as you can

    thank you

    mynameiscremm

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    lol

    lol

  • Oh dear. Now I miss her again.

  • I love this scene and I think the thing that makes me so upset is about it is that I know Billie wasn't acting when she was crying

  • Gorgeous bit of acting... a close second to Lottl when the Master dies, but that's only because DT actually does end up crying. Bravo, Billie. Bravo, David. :)

  • i luv this episodee makes me cry every time and david is such a caring person he also rather cutee

best of luck to the new doctor aswell

    hell neva beat david thoo

  • i love that music

  • Amazing acting on the wall scene at 2:29 from Billie Piper!

  • @RandomPeter94 ive been rewatching billie is a much better actress then i first thought

  • @RandomPeter94 Yeah I agree! Billie does that "take me back moment "really well she really shows lots of determination but also at the same she is so weak!

  • @RandomPeter94 Agreed. It was amazing. O_O

  • I bawled until the very end. And after. Never had a peice of media make me cry as much.

  • same, has more of an affect if you see the relationship between the two characters and of course seeing the whole of series 1 and 2

  • does anyone know the song starting 2:28 and where to find it? thanks!

  • The way he screams "Rose" is just so heartbreaking :(

  • @ericthefrootbat

I know! It kills me every time.

  • @ericthefrootbat Oh I agree. The first time I saw this, I didn't start crying when she was slipping. It was when he started screaming that I really burst into tears.

  • Does anyone know what the track is at 1:11?

  • It's called "Doomsday." Just search for 'doomsday doctor who soundtrack' or something.

  • @RienImporte Nah its ok, I found out it's from part of the track "The cyberman",

  • am I the only one that notices you don't see any cybermen fly through the breach?

  • @Kimmuryiel maybe they turn back into ghosts?

  • who knows.... but they were only ghosts because they weren't able to come all the way through the breach

  • You see them turning into ghosts as they lift into the air.

  • no, you see them being pulled toward the breach at lightning speed, just like you see the daleks

  • If you pay attention, you can see them stay floating in midair for a moment in the "ghost" form and then they are pulled up- I have just looked at it again. They do just go really really fast. It was just the work of bad CGI. xD

  • seriously people, this comment is meant to be funny, not a point of debate!

  • Yeah, I was thinking the same

  • amazing acting from billi piper, love rose!

  • I never start crying till he puts his hand on the wall and she realizes he's there, and presses herself to the wall, I can't help but cry everytime there.

  • This is one of the saddest episodes in Doctor Who history, and I believe that's why it's one of my favorites. It just shocked me to the core to see Rose get split up from the Doctor like that.

  • The song is called Doomsday from the Doctor Who Series 1+2 Soundtrack ^-^

  • Whats the song Called in the background? its Pretty good, nice and Calm

  • Rose was definitely the best companion.

  • They're both great, but Tennant, especially when after Rose has gone, is perfect. Absolutely perfect.

  • no matter how many times I watch this it ALWAYS makes me cry. it's totally heartbreaking, and yet one of the best acted scenes from the bbc I have ever seen.

  • I was cryong non-stop.When my big cousin paul let me borrow this i was watching then it came to the sad bit and my throat titend then my mum bought it for me and i couldnt help crying!

  • i cried for a full fifteen minuted when this happened.

    mind you, i was 12.

    but still.

the best, yet the most heartbreaking of all the finales EVER

  • I am nearly crying... It is so emotional and heart breaking...

  • ino its hard not to

  • always makes me wanna cry

  • the music and the scene are both heart breakingly beautiful and sad...thankyoux

  • Its impossible to watch this without me becoming total wreck.

  • one of the saddest tv moments in television history

  • @Citysinned That's a bit over the top. I watched this when it was first shown and it was sad but not one of "the saddest tv moments in television history". Something like the episodes of Fresh Prince where Carlton accidentally takes drugs or WIll's father comes back, or the "series finale" of Scrubs

  • Anyone know the music in the background?

  • it's called "doomsday". it's a piece written by murray gold. it's on the soundtrack.

  • so sad ='(
