damn, i looked up "helicopter ejection seat" thinking that there is NO way in hell that it could exist. surprise surprise. thats fricken awesome. i'd like to see one actually ejecting.
@GWOlukasr1 uhm ya they can, I've seen them do it in person. Search "apache loop" on youtube, you can watch a video as proof. Im not a fan of the Apache, but it can, in fact, do a loop.
@LONGIRAFFE it might but the lack of a second pilot may get in the way, one pilot in such a complex aircraft may get overwhelmed. It happens a lot in the Harrier and the FA-18E
Na, I love russian hardware, this helo is the dogs bollocks, just a pity it hasnt got a radar to fight with :( a radar on this thing with some radar guided missiles would be the definitive version of the ka 50 or at the very least they could of added some IR imaging equipment so that it would be capable of fighting at night also instead of just day time.
Heh, an ejector seat in a helicopter? Didn't even know anybody did that. But the ka-50 doesn't have night capability, it has no FLIR [Forward Looking InfaRed, I think] type equipment. So other than night vision, this heli is blind in the dark.
I readed that the nickname "Black Shark" was taken after the action movie of the same name made about the KA-50 were the "bad guys" name the KA-50 the Black devil or Black Shark.. up to then it was officially called Werewolf (the movie makes mention to both the NATO name "Hokum" and the real name "Werewolf".
Still i have no confirmation of this.. some call it Black Shark and others WereWolf.. now Black Shark seems to impose
the sea king is similar as well but not nearly as monuverable or aa capable. i havent enuff on the scorpion or westland too compare properly either im sure there are others of home this chopper borrows a few things from over all id love to fly it
not all choppers look alike no but there are a number of similarities between the two heli types both have excellent monouverability as as being compatable with the same stealth technology(with modifications for dimensions and weight) and the avionics between this and the apache system aren't all that different either the black haws for excample are more like a comerants being so large and all but the weapons systems are quite similar to that of both apache and blackhawk
Conclusion of what you said is, they are both excellent helicopters with top technology, i agree, still those not correct what you first said "twin rotor verasion of the apache long bow is what it looks like", you cannot compare these two in what each looks like. They are completely different.
i didnt mean its looks as much as the avionics and weapons i now this is blockier more so then the apache the sea king looks more like a griffin then this the sea king is an asw chopper now being refurbished for air cav. in canada and yes im canadaian so i no this air craft well (its more sleek and disigned for ground assault this one is more suited to multy targat assults including against other air craft)
That is one badass helo. The rotor system is almost unbelievably complex! Interesting that the Russians have used coaxial rotors on a few helos, while the West, with few exceptions sticks to the main/tail configuration.
That give's him higher speed of take off" - what does this speed have to do with its maneuverability? My original message was "Quite heavy chopper. I bet it can not change its [flight direction] that easily".
All sources including Janes and NATO analist as today agree in that the KA-50 is the most agile attack helicopter.. and also the fastest (not counting the Lynx one-off prototype). At combat speeds it can simply turn 180º in no time to face backwards...
@mehstfu Its a little bit complicated as because if some1 would comment on your old comment, that comment would have lost on 6th page or something and also, they've got fixed amount of comments per page so adding one comment would lead to moving all others.
What you say is possible on some forum where you got like 100-1000 max comments, but its not possible on yt where there are sometimes several thousands of comments. Unless you come with some idea how to fix that, dont complain about that
@thomaspruzina actually, its just lazy sloppy coding, not hard to do. youtube can fuck up replies when their is only 5 posts relating to a single video.
It doesnt matter what page a comment is on, if someone replies to one, then on whatever page the original comment was on is where the reply should be posted to, even if it was page 400, after all, the person that is being replied to does get a private message informing them about the reply, so it doesnt matter what page its on.
It has contra rotating rotors above each-oter.. it makes it very very manouvrable and i also think that it uses less fuel, The russian Bomber the TU-95 also had contra rotating propellors and used less fuel then other bombers, The Ka-50 would manouvre every other chopper out. Russian designs best !!!
You wrote "It can fly in any direction at equal speed...". I doubt it. Aerodynamics play a part in it as well. I doubt it can fly sideways just as fast as forward. And backwards for that matter. Just making an observation.
Woops, thanks for pointing that out! Well I'm going on what I hear on various aerospace websites, but they should really generally be treated with a healthy degree of scepticism. It probably can't go as fast sideways or backwards, but it does seem to be quite good at it. Thanks for commenting!

@SpecialOperations I never said it had a use? I was just stating that the Apache can do one, because GWO thought they couldn't

but it cant go over 300mph, cause the rotor tips would collide

Ka-50 is blind in night.
tophatter94 said everything correct.
But there is a modification "Ka-50 Ш (SH)", which has infro vision and able to fight at night.
(soory for bad engl.)
ermak4ever 3 years ago
correct.. the KA-50M is fitted for night operations.. also all KA-52 are supossed to be full night capable.. and with time all that can be corrected

Werewolf was called the project.
When the helo came was called BlackShark.
The NATO designation is Hokum A.
The ka-52 alligator NATO is Hokum B.

ah....i just didn't find right word to say
That 2 main propeller's gavi them more abilitys than 1 main
It gaves it more speed , take-off-weight-which-it-can-care and maneuverability .
