I was a huge Pretenders fan when I was a teenager 30 years ago. I always knew she could and would do songs like this. Fantastic. Thanks for posting this.
I saw "Eye Of The Beholder" movie and instantly fell in love with this song. Saw that Chrissie did this song and was hoping for a sound track CD. I eventually acquired the DVD and recorded the sound track..great post ...thanks
The most famous English version of this song is by Nat King Cole (elsewhere on YouTube). It is a French song "Que Reste il de Nos Amours" recorded originally by Charles Trenet. A nice version of this is by Dalida (search on YouTube). The English adaptation has a different sentiment and meaning from the original. Both have a nostalgic wistful air about them.
This is the weirdest pairing that I've seen on YouTube yet. At least it's from a great movie, but I won't be thinking of Dancing With Wolves whenever I hear this song again. And I guess I'll just listen to it next time.
I love keely smith ! ! ! and have actually met her ! i love chrissie hynde 20 times more ! this is my favorite song rite now , i will listen to it over and over for weeks ! ! ! - michaelosangeles
Hated this movie...
Little Big Man and A Man Called Horse were better ...
Never thought of Chrissie as a Lounge Singer till now.

This song reminds most people of 'a' summer of someone whom they had loved at one point in their lives. It's a beautiful song that's very spritual.
Thanks for posting it, I appreciate it very much, reminds me of the Summer of 85 in London with my first love.
