Mahomet caricatures and the muslim response: it featured the Jewish God, the Christian God (both in white Togas and all Zeus-like) and the Muslim God, whom the two others had to painstakingly convince to some on-screen Why? Coz' he was beardless and bald, which he thought wasn't very god-like, and so forbade his followers from representing him in any way, shape or form.

France fought well in WW1, and had many resistants in WW2. But the army leaders weren't very good I have to say.
Check out what happened at Bir Hakeim.
And the allied were planning to avoid liberating Paris right away so the communist resistants would die, but De Gaule convinced them to let the Free French forces liberate Paris with the help of the resistants. Later, his purpose was to avoid letting France become a US satellite state.

I respectfully disagree. The World Trade Center tragedy was not the only time people got killed, so if everytime there were deaths involved humour had to be prohibited, you wouldn't be able to use satire about anything. Freedom of expression exists or it doesn't. And I don't think this "Allah 1 - Jesus 0" thing was very harsh by the Guignols' standards. And maybe you can't feel it if you're not French, but his tone is unusually sad, he's not laughing at the victims.

So if I understand you correctly humour and satire should be forbidden whenever it touches something where human tragedy is involved. This is a very dangerous thought to me. As I said before, freedom of speech exists or it doesn't. Humour is a very important part of this freedom. If you start restricting it on the ground that the subject itself is not "funny" then you can go very far. It's the same kind of argument that said Roberto Begnini's film La vita e bella was a disgrace.

And that time limit is just a theorical limit, I'm a student and have had more than 35hours of lessons per week recently, my father do about 40h or even more per week, and employees can do additionnal hours. A lot of people have to complete a mission before a certain day, no matter how much hours they do during a week.
So please stop trashtalking when you only have incompletes informations.

Oh I'm not offended by it at all (very difficult to offend me, I have a good sense of humor). I can understand a little French (if not too fast). The episode of guignols de l'info where Osama Bin Laden steals Harry Potter's broom to fly into the Empire State building, and then Harry Potter gets shot by the U.S. Army I thought was funny.

Personnely, i was for Irak attack....but now u are in a trap. The best solution was to go outside irak fastly. Attack Iran ll be the mosr mistake that USA ll do. Iran are civilized even if their chief speak to erase israel, they ll do never that. In fact, i think u can kill a dictator but not change the mind odf population whiout grow economy. No, France has the right to satirise America - nobody cares about that., BUT I thought it was very very inappropriate, and very wrong to make fun of them after their terrorist attack just 1 day afterwards.
I know there's an element of French humour that believes the 'disrespect everybody equally' - sort of like the English do.
But you don't make fun of people the day after the worst terrorist attack in recent history.
That's evil. If it was Ireland, they would be fired.

This is not "France". This is one TV programme which is known to be particularly daring in its humour. Sometimes they are a bit harsh and hurt people. Drawing conclusions about "our country" on the basis of this very small thing is just completely wrong. Most people in France were very sad and shocked after 9/11.

Not everyone in France watching this programme or endorses everything they say. Canal + is a private channel.
The answer to your question is another question : what kind of people or society believes that such subjective notions as "decency" can be used to justify censorship? I am sometimes shocked by what the Guignols say. But I believe they are very important because they have no taboos and are part of the essential counterpowers in a democracy, and being shocking is part of this too.

Cette video est juste pour dédramatiser les choses ! Elle date du 12 septembre; souvenez vous du climat, regardez les titres des journaux français. On croyait vraiment que la WWIII avait commencé !! C'est juste un moyen de dire ok c'est la merde mais il faut aller de l'avant. Je ne vois pas où le terme USA est deprécié, cela illustre davantage la compassion des français envers les NY.
