He's technically gifted but I think he starts too loud. The result is that the whole piece is too much the same, little contrast. Horowitz is MUCH better at starting quietly and building to a THUNDEROUS finale.
Simon Barere was one of the most technically advanced pianists of his time, too scarely recorded and now seldomly played. Here he was a little careless.

He really knows how to bring out all the agony in this that Scriabin lived with.

Wow, great recording. It sounds an awful lot like Horowitz, in a good way. Barere could be great, no question about it.
