This video isn't "insider's knowledge" it's saying to us we should pay our loans or we "will be sued in court", and our credit will be "destroyed and shattered" Umm everyone's already heard the sky-will-fall-if-we-don't pay theory. Thanks for nothing, misleading bastard...
@jp827855 There is nothing misleading about this video. If you fail to pay your student loans all of this can happen...(you will not be sued until your balance is higher than like 50g and your account has been with Dept of Ed for at least 3 years).
@jp827855 You don't have to believe me, but I am a VERY credible source on this...I happen to work for an agency contracted by Dept of Ed to collect on defaulted loans. People call in crying all the time that their wages are being garnished and if they would have just cooperated in the first place and ANSWERED THEIR PHONE they would have been given plenty of alternatives.
@slvr94civic smh. Here's your quote "there are a lot of people who do NOT want us making this information available to people like you" -as if you are EXPOSING some loophole when in fact, you're saying exactly what we've already heard by the dept of ed. To pay your loans or be garnished. You make it as if you're actually revealing new information, and you're not. This is like my tax collector telling me here's how to get the gov't off your back about back taxes, PAY YOUR TAXES.
You can rehab all your defaulted student loans through a federal consolidation program. This will stop all the garnishments and tax refund intercepts. PM me for the forms.
@redcomusic DONT EVER CONSOLIDATE YOUR LOANS IDIOTS...IT CAPITALIZES ALL INTEREST AND PENALTY FEES INTO A NEW PRINCIPAL BALANCE>>>WHICH THEN ACCRUES INTEREST
@redcomusic WRONG..THIS IS A HORRIBLE THING TO DO IN DEFAULT. When you're in default and you consolidate, ALL OF THE PENALTY FEES ARE CONSOLIDATED AS WELL....which means there will never be a way to get out of them. The best option when in default is to enter into a rehabilitation. You make 9-10 month payments towards your account and your loan gets pulled out of default. WHEN IT DOES, ALL OF YOUR COLLECTION PENALTIES ARE WAIVED!
Government and ECMC or any student loan default collectors. Stop this red tape way of taking our human and civil rights away to settle our defaulted student loan debts. Government uses red tape forced laws to keep us in debt. Where is the saying we the people and for the people and IN GOD WE TRUST! If we default we are treated like a common criminal but if the government does it it is called garnishing and offset. Same thing embezellement and grand larceny. Common government were not stupid! Cad

This like red tape stuff having to conform to rigid rules and ristricktions. The government is just using a fancy name offset and garnishing to use red tape methods to force people into a situation because of a default. We are not criminals and these red tape ristricked laws need to chance and government needs to give us better incentive pay our debts and not have to conform to Hitlers theory of Natzi laws. These law need to change! THESE HARSH LAWS ARE WRONG!
@MrLadybug2011 Harsh Laws? Hmm..you car is repossessed if you don't pay for it....why shouldn't your wages be taken to pay for your student loans? PAY YOUR BILLS!

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as having a 'legal right' to consolidate (and pay) your loans. The government has the power to pick and choose when to go forth with garnishment (although there are limitations to garnishment). They can reject any proposal for consolidation, for whatever reason (for example: Calling the govt. to complain about employee incompetence, or patronage towards a collector).
When I applied to consolidate my federal loans, I did not get a response from the for over two weeks. When I called, they told me the status of my application had been canceled. I called in to complain that my application had been over-nighted, and was ignored (intentionally or not), until eventual cancellation. Within a week, I got a call from a collector, who was threatening to garnish a large % my wages. I feel the government is guilty of patronage, and I have contacted a lawyer.
The video presentation is very good and informative about student loans. Your guidance serves a great importance to many students like me. loved your video and want to see more about loans programme for students

@slvr94civic As if there's a difference in interest incurred...This is the only answer to those in default - and a good answer at that.
