  • graphics help a lot in the game if u say not so then your bullshit

  • is there a cheat where I can Walk Faster then I would play it?

  • Ok, was really interested in this...till I saw the walk speed. Good god! I do not want to play a game that takes a week to get any place :)

Can you speed up the walking at all or is that the fixed speed.

    Cheers.

  • @Armatige Yes, with the help of a potion, when I remember it correctly. But when you play, you won't find the walking speed annoying. I'm sure.

  • они долго сторолись и выпустили очередную часть этого гавница ))))

  • Now if only they could find a way to go back in time and release this game back when this was what a modern game actually looked like 15 years ago.

  • @LGunhazard I think it's the other way around; 15 years ago this game wouldn't make much sense since there were so many similar games back then (I'm talking gameplay here, not just graphics). Eschalon is a worthwile and refreshing RPG experience precisely because they just don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • I totally love the feel of this game. So far the best RPG I played that gave me the same chills that Baldur's Gate did. My only complaint, which is minor, is how your armor wears down way too fast.

  • Nethack + Diablo + Dungeons&Dragons = Eschalon?

  • @700007123 Eschalon is neither an action RPG like Diablo nor a roguelike á la Nethack. I'd say the game is a bit like Fallout but with more focus on combat and exploration and less on story and dialogue.

  • its £4.24 now on steam till 10th of july.

  • 25 bucks seems a little high for this. But I really wana play it :(

  • @SnugOFP Well, I'd say 25 bucks for a 40 hour RPG is a very good price; especially considering that a lot of mainstream games (especially shooters and action adventures) are only 5-10 hours long and still sell for $50-$60. Given what it costs to develop such a long game as Eschalon, a lower price would most likely mean that the developer couldn't afford to develop the upcoming Eschalon III.

  • I would of been happy with 20 bucks (which is more then profitable). 25 is almost unheard of with indie titles on steam. Just saying you may get more bang with 25 bucks but they'd prob sell more copies if they made the price competitive. There only getting my purchase because there is little else i want right now.

  • @SnugOFP Lowering the price doesn't automatically make a game more profitable. If you go beneath a certain price point it doesn't matter how many copies you sell because you'll simply never make enough of a profit in the long run to afford producing new games. The exception would be Minecraft, I guess, but it is just that; an exception.

That said, if a discount of $5 is all you're asking for it does sound reasonable to me, and I'm sure Steam will have a sale including Eschalon at some point.

  • @SnugOFP

it costs 5 euros today on steam, so hurry up and buy it if you haven't

  • @PharaohIslands I bought it about a month ago at 15 bucks and It was a terrible purchase. Good Mechanics but terribly generic and boring.

  • Holly crap if this game is for 2010 i cry!!!Why they dont give ppl a proper turn based rpg?

  • does anyone else fell this game reminds you of minecraft?

  • I think of my character in this game as a youngish, somewhat alcoholic Gandalf who is adept at fisticuffs.

  • Can I run in this game? Its to slow to move. Really

  • Such a beautiful atmosphere and game. Will get it.

  • Demiath, why you made your character... a woman? come on dude...

  • @hulksjedi Eh, what's wrong with being a woman? When given a choice, I usually play as female characters in games; makes a nice change from real life and all.

  • @hulksjedi are you a misogynist or something? wtf does it matter?

  • always been curious about these games.

is there a run button? i don't know if i'm patient enough to deal with that walk speed.

  • There is nothing wrong with the graphics for this game, it looks great. We need other looks besides first-person and staring at a motherfucker's backside.

  • Just bought the game....its amazing. im usually really critical with games that arnt graphically eye candy, but this game is incredible. I would say its the "lite" version of Oblivion haha. You can kill anyone, steal, Quests might change depending on how you deal with them, you have to make choices...its pretty amazing for a game like this. totally wasnt expecting anything good out of it, but it is totally worth the 25$.

  • Wow, the music sent all sorts of shivers down my spine *_*

  • @matthiasfsa lol

  • @matthiasfsa Faggot Chris Mathew syndrome? Like he has with obama when he speaks? "i gETz a fuNny tiNglEZ doWn my lEg whEn 0baMA sPIX"

  • I llove this series!!! IT is the perfect blend of real rpg depth, great story, superb atomosphere, dark brooding landscapes and npcs, killer graphics for a isometric game. I love this game and I own book 1 and 2, will buy book3 on day 1 from these devs. It's oldschool made new. I love it!

  • Demitath, you were really quick with downloading the first look on Book II :)

  • This has that legendary feel of when you first played Baldur's Gate.

  • Fantastic atmosphere. It looks better than the Avernum games to me.

  • @CaliforniaTD It's got better graphics and music, and my only complaint is that (as with Eschalon I) the game is single-character only without party members like Avernum or Knights of the Chalice has.

  • according to the download site i got the game from its the full game but locked in demo mode, does that mean i have to buy a code to unlock it?

  • @Borin81 Yep, same as with the Avernum games. I prefer it when they have a demo and a separate download for the full version, but I guess it's more practical for the developer to use the old school "shareware" solution...

  • now dont you go and bash shareware, it worked fine back in the day.

hopefully i will be able to keep the char i make in the demo if i decide to powergrind him for levels like a rugged sailor grinds a whore in dockyard alley.

  • @Borin81 I'm not "bashing" shareware, I just happen to like the modern system of separate downloads better. It's nice to get a shiny new file to download when you buy something online, and a simple code just isn't as sexy. The shareware model is very practical, though, and I totally get why it's making a comeback in these indie-friendly times.

But, yes, you can continue playing the full game from a demo save file after having bought a registration code.

  • @Borin81

Shareware has always sucked for everyone involved.

Except for the author, when one fan out of a hundred paid for the game.

The only positive thing for the player is that he got the opportunity to

get atleast a small amount of game play. Can't say I enjoyed most shareware I played enough to buy it even if I had the money.

Even Avernum and the original Exile series wasn't very enjoyable compared to

any of the Ultima's. The shareware model breeds contempt usually.

    I'd prefer opensource

  • i guess you where not around when Apogee was in the business.

  • @deadinapark shareware is just a way to demo games, it has nothing to do with the quality. the main problem is that its often the full game, and people can freely use the developer/publisher bandwidth to download it then apply cracks. if there's distinct demo / full versions people at least won't waste dev/pub bandwidth more than necessary.
