I loved this album when it first came out but my bitch girlfriend stole it from me when we split up a year later.I have missed it ever since, finally heard some of it again,ah,good memories....some of them...fuck knows why i even went out with her in the first place, total maniac she was,i did well get away from her with my dick still attached with my balls.
This song, written almost years ago, makes so much sense now. It's amazing to see how almost everyone can relate to this song.
And if you're looking for the album, you can get a good copy on eBay. I got mine there. It's an album with a song for everything. Patti's other three are good as well, but this one just has it all.
@jeffreypaulbobrick holy crap she has an album out? I obught between the 1 and the 9 when I was 15 and always wodnered where she disappeared (no internet back then) , I'm definetly gonna buy it for old time's sake.
What happened to artists like Patti. I so miss her and others who have paved the way for Progressive Indie music. I really miss them. My heart forever burns for them.
I loved her, bought this CD, played it endlessly... but that was like 12 years ago. What happened to her? Why didn't she get much air time for the great songs off this album?
Why Patti Rothberg is not filthy rich is beyond me, I think she is fantastic.
I blame EMI promoting Meridith Brooks to try and steal Alanis buyers instead of promoting Patti Rothberg who in my opinion would have been more of the one hit wonder Meridith "Bitch" Brooks was.
Between 1 & 9 is one of my favourite albums ever!!!
Me too! I had it on cassette and wore it out!! i was lucky enough to hear her play and meet her in a coffeehouse in Virginia (U.S.), She was so nice and down to earth! She is great!!!
@mcnatty5 I know you commented 2 years ago, but your post could not be said any closer to the truth! I was driving truck cross country back then and never heard "Inside" west of PA... I had to search for my copy of Between the 1 and the 9... Not in every shop, even back then....
@mcnatty5 I agree on the Meredith Brooks thing. but here where I live in NYC - there were people handing out free samplers of hers everywhere - and I even worked at a couple small record labels and we had a stack of her stuff sent to us for marketing. I think she just got overlooked. but Alanis at the time was ajuggernaut - no knocking her.
I'm surprised "flicker" wasn't made into a single. Or was it? It definitely had hit potential if you ask me. This song is good, but I always found it the most luke warm of the album.
Friggin sweet! Patti you rock! Very glad to see this.
I know someone took video of Patti performing live for WRGX (X107) at Gosho (Japanese Restaurant) in Hawthorne, NY back in (1995?) - I realllly wanna see that video!!!

@normygto I heard her on an indie station in San Diego, so she was played west of Penn. (The station no longer exists in that format, though.)
Loved her so much, I bought the CD and played it over and over and over again. Never did get why she didn't get more recognition. She deserved it.

I wore this CD out in highschool. Her and Tracy Bonham hehe. I always thought she was the singing version of Wynona Ryder--odd I know. :P

Fantastic singer song writer. I played this CD over and over and over for years.
I have been fortunate to have seen her live several years ago. Great preformer. My fave show was when she opened for Paul Westerberg.
