If you were familiar with the plight of chimpanzees, you would see that although Eugene is a very attractive man, this seems to be more his plaything his father "bought" for him. There is not one single sanctuary in the world, not one, where a young guy goes in and "rehabilitates" the chimps, UNLESS they are babies. You have to know that the Coussons family run a very nice business around the chimps.

@isolo83 Unfortunately this Eugene guy is a nut case who wouldn't leave the chimps at the center alone and the show had to be cancelled after 1 season. He was running around with the animals, climbing trees with them, endangering himself and the animals. Its a shame.

@chad11950 Escape to Chimp Eden didn't get cancelled after one season. There was a second season and the show is currently in limbo. It is neither cancelled nor confirmed for a third season. As to Eugene being a nut case, this isn't true either. After the alpha male Jao didn't want him in the enclosure anymore, he stayed out. Get your facts straight before ruining his name.

Eugene makes for good TV but for those of us who know him we realize the only reason he is there at all is because his father owns the land at CE and the surrounding reserve. @chad11950 "CHAD" is likely a primate BREEDER. He advocates for animals in cages, saying they appear healthy. See, for example, his comments on video: Chimpanzee Animal Training.MPG about how the animal looks good and healthy to him, in a bird cage, missing an arm, abused beyond belief. He hates wildlife rehabbers who are bashing his trade. He spends his days and nights sitting on YouTube bashing them. Give a search for same. CHAD is the source of most of these animals' problems.

I always loved primates and followed the work of Jane Goodall and the late Dian Fossey. I got so excited about a program of rescuing chimps. Then after its premiere I was so amazed at this wonderful individual, Eugene Cussons. It's so wonderful that as a young man he is so compassionate and he is carrying on educating the public for the next generation and it sure does not hurt that he's easy on the eyes to watch. Wow, he's so handsome! Eugene is now my hero...I love him.

I absolutely love Eugene, what is not to love. This is my favorite show. I missed the last show and I wanted to cry. I didnt know it would be the last,. I love Cosi and Jau, Spelled wrong. I hope people learn from this show to treat animals the way that they want to be treated.

I admire Eugene for his passion to protect and save these intelligent and beautiful animals. I'm sure Jane Goodall is thrilled that he has decided to give up a career in the corporate world and instead dedicate himself to such an important and noble cause. I love Escape To Chimp Eden, but it's so heartbreaking to see the truth about how cruel people can be and how badly they treat these animals. Anyone that chooses to harm something so defenseless is nothing more than a weak & pathetic coward.

But just like humans some chimps are different and will fight at the drop of a hat. They are humans really just look different and don't speak anything we can really understand.

@Nosfeast - I'm not implying chimps are weak or defenseless. I realize how incredibly strong & powerful they are. However, if you watched the show "Escape To Chimp Eden" you would've seen before Eugene rescued some of the chimps, many were kept in tiny cages with chains around their necks and left outdoors while some pathetic cowards got their jollies from throwing rocks and bottles at them just for "fun." So, in that respect, yes, the chimps were helpless in a horrific situation. .
