  • Could u give me the websites for the points motor please?

  • How do u take of the body for this loco

  • @Liverpoolfcfever The body for the 47 is held on by 6 screws, 1 and each end and the rest by the bogies. It is explained in the manual for the loco.

  • @EverardJunction what about the 58

  • one way i saw to model water is with glass with some kind of wash on and had some lichen under

  • Great video mate!! I found out the hard way too, as I burn't out a 500 ma chip when I first started using dcc.I only use those now on class 8's and small based locos.Great ammendments to the class 58, I want to weather the red stripe and bogies on mine as they look way too clean and plastic like when straight out of the box , great loco's though!!!!Yours looks great!.... andy

  • @hornbachhh Thanks mate, I'm weathering my class 31 at the moment. If the results look good I might weather the 58 to.

  • will you do a video on how to fit and wire up the point motors? I might put point motors in?

  • @eanat11 I could do, they are very simple. Drill a hole for where the point motor needs to be, solder up the wires using the instructions supplied with the motor and then attach the point motor to the baseboard.

  • @EverardJunction i know but i just cant get my head round it. lol

  • @eanat11 I have a vid ready to go but it doesn't really show them being installed, ill go over them quickly in my next layout update vid

  • @EverardJunction ok, thanks!

  • Thanks for the update - love the fact that you give so much useful information which we can all benefit from :-)

  • @Mooresbytube1 Thanks mate

  • i wish i had enough space to build a layout as good as yours, i am building a small one in the garage and i have to say your videos are inspiring me so thank you very much :)

  • @lukianzio Thanks mate, good luck with your layout.

  • hi there found your videos very interesting still a few more vids to go is your layout a particular region? i hope to do some new videos of my updates in a few weeks as the weather is more shed friendly thanks for the interesting vid cheers

  • @steveallen808909 Thanks, the layout is based somewhere between Paddington station and Bristol.

  • layout looks great! what do you make your platforms from? i just use some wood and use an textured spray paint.

  • @tpe18509 I use basically the same method, I made a vid about it a while ago called 'how to make model railway platforms the easy way'

  • Nice update. I agree the Bachmann 47s are great models. I have 47535 and Sir Rowland Hill in parcels red.... and thanks for the tip on fitting the etched nameplates. I've steered clear of this because of previous gluing difficulties (oops!) but I like the idea of using D/S sticky tape. I think even I can manage that and as you say, you can peel it off again if it's not quite right. Look forward to the next update.

  • @ChrisWV10 Thanks mate, Sir Rowland Hill is the right era for me and I may consider getting it for mail and passenger. Then I would have all three of bachamnn class 47s!

  • great ive got the heljan class 86 and the class 26 i can throughly recomennd them both especially the 86 i dont know why the 86 has had such bad reveiws because ive got the anglia one and i can see absaloutley no fault in the design what so ever nice vid mate and dont forget to check out my channel now as i have uploaded a lot of vidios finally!! : )

  • @MrJezza31 Thanks, ill check out your vids. The 86 is indeed a very nice model. I think the bad reviews were down to the dimensions of the model compared to the real thing. In 00 scale those issues make very little difference to the model, criticism like that is just rivet counting.

  • @EverardJunction yes i agree

  • 5***s layout is looking good i like the 58s i have 2 mainline livery ones and the 47 is looking good.

  • @jaannetts16 Thanks mate.

  • what programme do you use to edit your videos before you upload to youtube as i want to edit mine using something else other than youtube because you can only do so much using youtube.

  • @bloodmarine77 I use Sony Vegas, I was using windows movie maker but it doesn't support the correct resolution to be full screen in YouTube.

  • Good Luck with the point motors,I was lucky, used the hornby housing motors and I only had to install 8!

  • @Class59Cameron Only 8! I wish that was me, i've installed 7 of mine now and theres so many left.

  • Knuckle couplers? dont you have those hook things?

  • @YTisawsum I do have to use tension lock couplings, they are rubbish and I always convert my stock to kadee knuckle couplings. I find these look better and are much more reliable.

  • I mean Heljan by the way :)

  • Great! The info about the Vitrains loco and hornby decoder will be really usefull!

  • @2009Buzza Thanks

  • the layout is coming along nicely mate.and a very nice 47 as all bachmann locos generally are.i always buy bachmann over hornby as they seem to be of better quality.anyway 5* as always!!!

  • @bloodmarine77 Thanks, I'm very pleased with the 47. Bachmann are certainly better value for money and are more reliable in my experience. I've now decided to stop buying the hornby decoders now as they are fussier about dirty track and don't support as many CV settings as Bachmann decoders.

  • @EverardJunction yeah ive noticed the hornby decoders aint as reliable with dirty track compared to the bachman.also wanted to say the 58 looks better now you have done the grills!

  • @bloodmarine77 Thanks, the grills make a nice improvement

  • Im sorry mate to ear about that class 58 and the chip.I should of told you that the 58 needs a decint chip like i put in my 2 class 58 with r lenz std chip but i read the class 58s manuls to see wot power drawer is and i asked around befor i bought my.love your new video

  • @gazclass58 Thanks mate, I generally buy the bachmann decoders as I find them to be more reliable than hornbys, they also support more cv settings. It does seem odd that the hornby decoder can only cope with low current.

  • Brilliant!!!

  • @BMR5ify Cheers

  • yeah you can use basicly molding resin but get the woodland scenics water kit its so easy ive used it at work we have some woodland scenics water effect in a bottle you just pour it in no mixing just pour and it dries clear with a wet affect thx

  • @pyronathanpyro cool, i've been thinking of getting that.

  • @EverardJunction Thanks, that would be great, cause your layout is AWESOME!!

  • Many thanks for another great informative video .Cost saving is very important and major suppliers only tell you things on a need to know basis .!!

  • @REGWARNE12 Thanks, as I said steer clear of that decoder when using heljan locos.

  • I do enjoy your videos! I am hoping to start on a new layout with my dad soon but are undecided whether to have it DCC or DC. I have got the Hornby DCC Elite controller so we have a start! With your control panel, can you not operate the points by your controller? Because with the elite i believe you can get the accessory decoder and wire up the point motors and your away!

    Thanks for sharing! 5*

    Jac

  • @JacSGWR all dcc controllers can controll points using the special points decoders as you said which is correct but you have to type in the number then operate it then back to the train so this is alot of trouble to go throughtth when you can just use wsitches to operate points and its much cheaper thx

  • @JacSGWR Thanks, I would recommend DCC over DC any time. Since you already have the controller I would highly recommend you use it. All point motors can be controlled by the controller using a decoder. I chose to use switches because I can operate the points faster and don't have to buy a decoder for them.

  • @EverardJunction Thanks for the help. Will there be a video on the construction of the control panel and installation of the point motors?

  • The Bachmann Tornado has the extra nameplates.

  • @ipodwindow Yeah, bachmann supply name plates with all their named locos. I wish hornby and heljan did the same.

  • Can I ask something? Say If I bought two of the came Class 47, They will have the same name and number right? So couldn't I buy a new name plate and change the numbers?

  • Can I ask something? Say If I bought two of the came Class 48, They will have the same name and number right? So couldn't I buy a new name plate and change the numbers?

  • @ididi9 You could, alot of people do this and it isn't to hard. You will have to buy new numbers and name plates, then remove the old numbers and name.

  • Hey, when will you be working on the town scene again, and showing us around allll of the layout??

  • @DIYflightsim The town scene will be worked on at some point, I can do a complete tour for you soon.

  • Nice coming along very good

  • @ididi9 Thanks
