First, thanks for posting this video. This song(The Louvin Brothers' version)has first,a simple yet powerful message about prayer. Also,it has a nice tempo/beat and the harmony is excellent. All in all, this is a song whose message you can easly remember.
If you've ever wondered who the writer of this song was, it was Rev. Pearlie Sellers. She was my Great Grandma, she was a pastor at United Christian Faith Holiness Church in McColl, SC. I've always wondered if she got to hear the Louvin Brothers sing her song before she passed. I think she would have been proud of them
@tarhelgrl Thank you. Yes, I have been wondering who wrote the song. I imagine it would have made her happy to hear the Louvin Brothers sing it. How many other songs did she write?
@josephroyer she wrote quite a few. I'm not sure of any of her others that are out there. I knew of this one b/c my aunt gave me the name to look for when I was downloading songs. My Grandma and aunt still sing some of her songs that have never been published.. I want to put them on here for others to hear, but my gandma says no. So in respect for both her and my great grandma I haven't. I'll see if I can find the names of her other songs that were published. and post their names on here.
The Louvin Brothers came to our little church in Smithboro, Illinois in 1960 or early 1961, when I was 8 years old. For some reason, this is the song that has stuck with me. It is so cool to have found them on YouTube, and to hear them sing this song again, after all these years. I had never seen a mandolin before, and I really enjoyed hearing Ira play it.
Thank you, my Great Grandmother sang this all the time in the late sixties.

That would be great, thanks!
I think it is really admirable to have the kind of regard and respect for your heritage as I can see you have. You are blessed to have that heritage!

I love this kind of Bluegrass singing. I play some banjo, mandolin, guitar, tiny bit of fiddle and some fiddle.
