  • And that...

    *puts on sunglasses*

    ...was a smashing coincidence.

    YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • You used the phrase "YOU KNOW" 10 times and the word "so" 3 times in the space of 1 minute,10 seconds (from 0:39 to 1:49) . This is landmark web journalism, just so you know !

Put the blunt away and think before you post.

  • i swear to god i was on that train everyone rushed to see if the dude was ok

  • i think that one of the monorails was intended to switch tracks but the operator forgot to switch the track and the one monorail started to go backwards and rammed the other monorail

  • What is your point?

  • You are trying far too hard to attach yourself to something so minor. It isn't tragic at all, people die every day, from technical hiccups, you are just up your own butt about it because it's Disney. It has to be the most unamazing news I have heard, and you really have over glorified it.

  • I feel so bad for austin and his family.Im sure theres still so much pain within the family even after a year. You could tell austin was very loved and will be missed

  • @PainlessTragedy=That's what Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy told me this morning while we were on a snipe hunt. Ant then, we got on my flying saucer, and flew to Mars.

  • the guy that died fell asleep

  • I have no fucken clue

  • Uhmmmm, Uhmmm, you know, uhmmm, you know

  • I was there to

  • Austin was my friend and from all i was told the guy in the other train ignored instructions and backed up, the result my friend is dead now :( this accident hadnt happened for 37 years and it is safe to ride on the nose, now the pink and purple colors are being retired and some memory plaque will in place for the new train they just added

  • Disney is notorious for sweeping under the carpet all of the tradgedies, deaths and rapes that occur in their parks. I love Disney World, but like I tell everyone who is going there - have a good time, but watch your back!

  • i was there the day of the crash, some guy that i met in the line for soaring at epcot that works for Disney but had a day off said that it was a technical error because usually the monorails cant move if there is a certain number of feet in between them so something must have gone wrong with the computer

  • Something else to add. From what I have heard is that Disney has ruled this pilot error. Basically blaming the driver for the incident instead of admiting that their management screwed up. It is a tragedy. Many of my friends who are/were Disney employees for many years have left the company because of this and other things that they have witnessed going on. This company has very much strayed from Walt's original vision which saddens me.

  • FYI From what I understand from an employee who worked the monorails @ MK this was a computer glitch that was known about for at least 6 mths maybe longer by management. The employee in question was so traumatized that they quit. The problem could have been fixed by shutting down the monorails for 24 hrs but wasn't because management didn't want to have to deal with angry guests. In my opinion I think the guests would have understood. Plus there are other ways to get around the property.

  • it wasits his falt its no ones falt its just a little insident disney didnt do it on perpose

  • if a monorail is stopped, it should automagically stop the other trains and it didnt. technical fart, thats all

  • @Trulula2

Hey Trulula2 What exactly does "AUTOMAGICALLY" mean ? I cannot seem to find it in any dictionary.

  • @dbCOOPER2010 it's disney! automagic!

  • @dbCOOPER2010 In an automagical manner

  • wow thats really sad and i am going to disney in a few days and i am not sure if the trains are going to work if i go there?

  • the trains were up again the next day and since ur going soon, you may see the new teal monorail made of pieces of the 2 that crashed

  • I was just there at Disney World from October 24, 2009 until October 29th. I saw nothing wrong with the monorails and we used them during our visits to the Magic Kingdom. I hope this little bit of info puts some of you at ease because sometimes technology fails and/or people make mistakes... All I can tell you is that we had a SPECTACULAR time in October of 2009! That accident was not aomething that occurs all the time and I highly recommend anyone to visit Disney World.

  • Wow you should be on the news, you are an amazing reporter. Just kidding you are a fucking idiot.

  • sled4life - you can go fuck yourself. He wasn't drunk. In fact, it wasn't his fault at all.

  • Wow you wanna bet kid?

  • i know but still you can't blame it on anyone you weren't there how do you know he was drunk he wasn't alive so i could you know exaclty what happened plus if you were all those things you called him in this comment then it wasn't him it was his actions most off all we can't blame it on anyone and you know what miaster smarty pants the news lies sometime but there might of been a crash and someone died doesn't mean they now exactly what happened no one does we should just let life go on

  • what caused the crash is the operater was drunk and tired and wasnt paying attention and was on full throtle came into the station without stopping smashing into the back of the other monorail and it killed him thats the whole story!

  • sledz4life go fuck yourself

  • well first of all i'm glad i left 1 day before that.but the person who died wasn't his or her fault if you make a stupid choice then you get a negative consquence people who ever is the new presindent and v.p should do better than the others did but still it's no ones falut it's your choices if you make good choices you get positive consquneces let's all just forget about that day and forgive who did it and remember the one who died let's take a moment each day and remember him or her cya guys!!

  • people need to stop thinking whose fault it was and get over it. yes it was sad, but it was nt disnys fault, hence the word, ACCIDENT. it has nothing to do with budget cuts, which didnt even happen, because that has NOTHING to do with anything anyways. someone didnt stop soon enough or it went in reverse, end of story. Disney is still a wonderful fun place even if xome people make stupid mistakes.

  • Honestly, the nerve of some of these people. They've already confirmed that it was a malfunctioning of one of the systems. I don't know, but I think this system tracks other trains and when 2 of them get too close, it releases an automatic break (again, not too sure, just a guess).

  • i think the reason the monarails crashed was because recently my mom got laid off from disney and also about half the other workers did to even the most expeinced workes!!!they probobly had one of the lucky new workers driving and crashed the 2 monarails so i think its disneys falt 4 laying off so many workers just 4 money.........and crashing the monarail is what happend in the end!!!!

  • First of all. Wow! It's been so long and I'm glad to see that it hasnt been forgotten. It was a tragic day and I as well as the many pilots before me will never forget hearing about it... or for those who were there seeing it. This was something real.

A real person died. I think it's terrible that there are people leaving some pretty rude comments on this. What is the sense in that?

  • i know wat happened! not lying cuz my aunt works there... ok the v.p. wasnt doing his job, he was eating at denny's and the president wasnt ethier, and yea they both got fired, if u care plz right on my channel

  • i was there!!! i was actualy about to get on! i started to cry...

  • i still dont know how two monorails collide like that, are'nt they on 2 diff tracks, both going opposite direction? idk, but i was shocked when i heard it too. rip monorail operator.

  • these punishments from God happen to humanist america when you stop praying to Jesus.

  • umm no dude you need to stop posting comments like that and making everybody go crazy

  • yeah dude i was on the same monorail like 10 hours before it happened kind of scary.

  • Your Video Sucks

  • Disney death! Wot will american idiot's whitebread friend do for fun now? Tell us in the comments below what we should think...

  • A. Everyone needs to stop speculating and actually go read news sites and the investigation reports. The problem was not brakes, or system error, or even the fault of the drivers. It was a communication error at the Central Hub due to the manager on duty actually being off property and radioing in orders. He is being brought up on charges.

    B. Who is this guy and why does he feel compelled to deliver news of any kind? Thanks for reading off of CNN into your webcam genius.

  • right on brother/sister

  • ok i think something was messed up with the brake system. cuz i was told b4 that the monorails have automatic brakes and automatically stop if 2 monorails r in a certain distance of each other. its really a shame. my prayers r with both the monorail drivers and their families

  • why is this here ? ya know???

  • the mary popins system (mapo) was over rided so one train could switch tracks to go to the shed for the night but the switch never changed so the mapo system should have stoped both trains but it didnt because it was being over rided and the driver in monorail purpe didnot know it never switched and he started backing up and hitting monorail pink which killed the driver of pink and the guy that was supposed to be watching was at perkins instead of watching the safety screen from robby

  • wats up with this dude? he is speaking like its the uninjured drivers fault. and yea dude we wouldn't think of seeing something like this THATS WHY THEY ARE RARE!!! that doesnt mean they're not possible

  • many people are making obnoxious comments like the drivers were drunk and etc...

wat happened was there was supposed to be a rail switch for maintenance and false signals in the stations and cockpit of the monorails were given. therefore the pink monorail unknowingly reversed into the purple monorail waiting in the TTC

  • this is like i was watching the news and i like near chester and someone had got swine flu somewhere 5 minutes away Scary stuff

  • tedloop is a dumbass. but yes i feel horrible for the family of the young driver and look forward to everybody beign able to put this behind them and getting off of disney's case. shit happens, just cuz disneys more succsssful doesnt mean they have to over exageriate it.

  • Obama had nothing to do with this!

  • @hammerbro99 Yes he did, he had everything to do with it. If he only passed a bill to increase monorail safety, this would never had happened. He just doesn't get it, just doesn't care.

  • this and Obama becoming prez have no connection whatsoever. Maybe i'll re think my opinion when he chokes on a pretzel.

  • Comment removed

  • Your a bummer

  • Man ..out of respect for the deceased driver and the families..stop bickering like a bunch of school children.

  • You just repeated everything that the news channels did. And you seriously should not be making videos bloging about his death.

  • austin wuennenberg was the operater's name, he was one of my friends (we had robotics club together 3 years ago) he wasn't sleepy and he was perfectly healthy. he works strange hours because he's also going to college. it wasn't his fault either, the other operater (the one that lived) was to blame because he screwed with the track and when it was suppose to switch. i think austin risked his life to save everyone on that monorail..

  • thanks for regurgitating CNN

  • boring......rehearse what ur gonna say first.....ur repeat too much!

  • strange on july 4 th

  • everyone gets drunk on july 4th but it wasnt the dead operater's fault, the one that lived was to blame (read my other comment.) what they don't mention is that on the same day, a drunk jumped off a balcony and died and another drunk got in a car crash --all within 15 to 30 mins of disneyworld. but austin wasn't drunk, he was studying for college and was alert at the time. i'm pretty sure he risked his life to save everyone else's. lol july 4th is almost as bad as new years

  • WOW! It takes a certain type of person to make a comment like that. Karmas a B*itch.

  • you are a rambling turd

  • A person has died doing his job. You should have more respect and not talk that way.

  • lol...you satanists are all alike.

you might appriciate this, on his death bed anton levey, leader in the "do what thou wilt" movement cryed and complained that he was horribly wrong. be prepared for your fate

  • ......Who said I was a satanist? I have never read the satanic bible nor do I really care to. Good job at that tho.

  • it doesn't matter if you have read the satanic bible...you don't have to have read mein kompf to be a neo-nazi, the point is that you propagate a satanic agenda...you know you do.

  • Wow, are you joking or just retarded? Lmao!

  • I don't really care to argue this ne more but just look at the videos you have posted on your channel. Im not a holy roller your just an idiot!

  • Im not looking to argue, you keep assuming things about me that just makes you look stupid. I have looked at the videos on my page and its music. Just as I have the beatles and other artist that have christian lyrics in them. So, I dont see your point.

  • that is a sick thing to say..... this is a tragedy.. not a joke.. get a life

  • u're kindda hot yeah

  • they should have drove a car...

  • your got way to much time on your hands

  • probably a malfunction with the tracks or the operating controls. probably has nothing to do with the operators

  • You people need to relax, it's seriously ridiculous that this is blown out of proportion. A life lost is tragic no matter what, but you have a greater chance of dying walking down the street or driving in your car. If you're that concerned about safety, just stay at home behind locked doors. Make sure you can get out though, your house could burn down. Don't leave your stove on either.

Live your life, don't live in fear. Disney is safe, accidents happen.

  • very true....those monorails have been working fine without accidents for many many years with millions of people using that means of transportation in the parks.

  • I worked for Disney for many years, their safety record is very good so I expect there will be a big enquiry over this. In the first clip a castmember shouted at a guest to stop filming this was wrong because any record is useful in explaining why this accident happened. Also they shut down all the comments which is a bit naughty. In France there are very strict laws on how many hours you can work so I must ask was the driver tiered how many hours did he work I am sorry for your friend.

  • i will still go on it but i will sit in the middle

  • i will probily not go on the monirales at disney for a while

  • me either but there so fun to go on. now i gotta take the buses...

  • As tragic as having a 'Mission impossible 2' poster on your wall?

  • i was there only 13 years ago! shit,it could have been me

  • This is so crazy. I was there that night. My wife, daughter and I along with another couple were planning to ride the Ebcot train that was in the wreck. But we got tired and decided to leave a little earlier and took the hotel bus. Our phones started ringing off the hook from family members that heard about the crash and the group of us were in total shock thinking that could have been us on the train if we did not decide to leave early.

  • keep your day job

  • Austin was my friend!! he was an awesome person! i cant believe he's gone

  • I'm sorry for your loss.

  • Comment removed

  • How inconsiderate. How could you say such an assinine thing, after someone with a great future loses their life because of this? Austin loved his job! How would you feel if someone in your family lost their life and someone made a comment like this? Not too happy I'm sure. You need to think next time. Don't be the imbecile that you are!

  • My husband and i went to Magic Kingdom for fireworks Sat. night and I'm just learning of the details of this crash. I heard about it and thought it was Sun. during the day. We left the park at 9:45pm and took the Ferryboat because we figured it would be quicker to load. I'm thankful that i returned to MD safely but so sorry for the loss of Austin's family and of his life.

  • Wow, i was just at Disney World about a week ago. And the Monorails were working perfectly fine. That just shows anything can happen.

  • It was definetly "MICKEY MOUSE"

  • you heard wrong

  • ....Disneyland and Disney World are similiar in some ways, and I can tell you that Park Operations is completely different. I couldn't stand the difference in the way WDW operated, and treated their poor CPer's compared to DL. Besides I hated that all the good attractions that are in DL where not in the MK, and instead were put in the different parks at WDW. MK has less rides and is further spaced out than DL.

  • I am a former CM of both Walt Disney World and Disneyland (in SoCal) and I can confirm that Racha184 is right and that dschuch is WRONG (stop pretending to be a CM, "we" can tell your not) : the monorail in Disneyland is an Attraction. You must be an Attractions CM in Tommorowland (you get "landlocked", I worked mansion/pirates in NOCC attractions) to even be eligible to become an operator. DL does not use nor need the monorails like WDW does to transport all their guests.

  • you need to stop saying "You know" "Uh" or "Know"

  • Yah GET OVER IT SO WHAT

  • the pink monorail crashed in to the purple monorail, which was stationary

  • Having been a Monorail pilot, I know what it took to control the Monorail. What I meant by my post was that most people think being a driver is dangerous and that we would be able to run the train off the beam... which, obviously, isn't true. Indeed, there are many things besides pushing the throttle up and down. Safety was always the #1 thing when driving and making sure the radio calls go through, etc.

  • You're right. There are MANY safety features in the Monorail, including the deadman trigger, which must be pushed in for the Monorail to move, like you said. From what I have heard, the accident happened when monorail Pink was given the clearance to back into the station, where purple was. The intrusion system would have had to be bypassed for this to happen. It was most likely a big, horrible mistake or misunderstanding, but once again, from what I understand, it was not the fault of the dead.

  • Comment removed

  • Talk to an insurance agent ...I guess they dont know a thing about statistics....unexperienced drivers.....I had my first accident at 21. It was my fault...lack of experience! We learn as we get older.....safety comes first at Disney. Drivers are not attraction workers. Sorry Racha184 is wrong about that. I don't want to blame him....God rest his soul. He was in the wrong place...so very sad. You can see by the impact which was the damage came from. Over shot the other train.

  • At DISNEYLAND, Monorails are considered an attraction. The minimum age to work attractions there is 18... therefore, the minimum age to drive a MONORAIL is 18... driving the monorail is considered working an attraction at Disneyland. Same as the submarines for Nemo. The steam trains work differently, however, and you have to apply to be an Engineer to drive them. Driving the Monorail is not difficult as many think, as you don't even have to steer....

  • jesus christ geek.

    no video?

stop wasting our time & get a job

  • The Disney Monorail System is a Mass Transit System and should be regulated by the FRA. Also, The NTSB should be investigation this crash. I believe the hour the crash will prove to be one of the main factors in this crash and how long the operator had been on duty. There are studies that show that it is most dangerous from 2 am to 4 am. We have a Monorail System in NY that goes between JFK and Jamacia Railroad Station. Someone was kill on that system when it was first started.

  • It won't be regulated b/c it is solely operated on private property....same for the boats on the lake...they do not get regulated by the coast guard.

  • I still don't understand.....a 21 year old driving a monorail.....Rental car companieds don't even rent cars without extra premiums to males under 25. I am appalled we gop there every year and these monorails carry many many families with children. 2am? He fell asleep. It was in the transportaiton center...it was a stopped one and he came barreling into it. OMG! So scarey!

  • What the news is saying isn't exactly accurate. There's a lot more to it than what was said online and on tv. Also, as for the age thing, Disney only requires that you be 18+ to work in attractions.

  • Attractions is one thing......a monrail driver is another. Very high risk....like I said my son is 22 and he is a good driver .....but his car insurance is at a premium because of his age. He was too young to drive a monorail. I never saw a monorail driver that was young and we go every year and have sat with the drivers. He only worked there since October? Thank God no one else got hurt and God be with him and his family.

  • 1. Monorails are considered an attraction.

    2. Every pilot is trained under supervision and tested prior to being signed off.

    3. From what I understand, it wasn't even the fault of the deceased, but instead was an error on someone else's account. I shan't say more.

  • Monorails in California are considered and attraction. In Florida, they are considered transportation. No, it wasn't the fault of the deceased.

  • He did not fall asleep. It wasn't his fault.

  • Disney transportation goes to 2am... We were there 2 weeks ago. I think he fell asleep......scarey. He was young for that much responsibility....Sometimes the monorails are packed.

  • It was running that late due to Epcot having the 4th celebration Fireworkds

  • The report said it happened at 2 a.m., why was it running that late? Even though it was the 4th of July, I doubt it would be open to the public that late in the morning.

Also, these people claiming to have worked for DisneyWorld below are in question.

I am sure they are required to sign a wavier not to talk about park operations, under threat of law suits.

  • I no longer work there... and I never worked for Disney WORLD. ^ ^

  • it is aggravating how when these kind off terrible mishaps happen in the parks, Disney does not let out a lot of details...but u have to remember that Disney has an image to uphold and the only thing they want their guest to know is that they are safe...so i always have mixed feeling about how Disney addresses problems like this.

I go to Disney all the time since i live just minutes away and have grown up at the resort just like so many others. so I always like to know whats going on

  • In my opinion, Disney portrays a more unsafe image by hiding what really happens within their parks. After working at Disneyland for 2 years, I lost a lot of respect for the company from the way they handle situations. What they portray to the public is completely false.

  • I understand what you r saying completely. I know they cover stuff up and are not as safe as they say, but that is what i was saying. its aggravating that the public don't know how safe they really are just cause Disney wants to keep that image of being perfect, which is a must cause we got to make money!

I'm sure u have many good/bad stories of different things that happened to u while working for the mouse

  • Exactly. Our intrusion system warns us with a yellow light, then it produces an automatic emergency stop if we don't manually stop. Again, like I said before, we also have cast members at each station who can see the train... since the crash happened in the station, it makes me wonder how nobody saw it ready to happen and tried to stop it with an emergency stop.... I'm sure Disney will be covering this up like the Thunder Mountain tragedy a few years ago...

  • US CONSTITUTION states: No State shall... coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

The Federal Reserve's only way of functioning is by expanding the money supply. This is not possible under a gold/silver standard.

What are you talking about? And why on earth would a citizen defend the FED?

  • Huh?

  • UM...Wrong video. YOUR COMMENT DOESN'T FIT HERE.

  • To everyone criticizing his video... leave it alone. The importance is the information, and he relayed it to us accurately. As a former (as in... until the end of June) CastMember of Disneyland who worked the Monorail, I am shocked about this accident. At Disneyland, we have an intrusion system that will stop us if we get too close to another Monorail. Also, I can't imagine seeing a Monorail in front of you and NOT stopping. Something must have gone terrible, terribly wrong. My condolences.

  • I'm pretty sure he fell asleep. That's probably the logical explanation, cause I know people who operate it and they say there's tones of signal things. They're pretty sure the guy fell asleep.

  • For all we know he could've had a seizure or something else as well. From my experience with driving the Monorail, we had signals that beep loudly when you're intruding on another Monorail, but at a certain point, it would also E-Stop us automatically. Not only that, but I don't see how someone else didn't notice that the train was getting close to the other. Here at Disneyland, we have people at each station who can push an Emergency Stop button if we see something like that...

  • That's true. I work at Disney here in Orlando. They have to follow MAD safe regulations!

    =)

  • Im a trolley operator and we dont have a safety device or mapo that stops the train if it gets too close to another train. We operate on sight under signal indication. Either it was a malfunction of the system or operator error. and I dont see why the operator would disable that safety device unless he is in a hurry trying to make up time possibly running behind schedule I dont know.

  • Whatever...

    Accident happen...

    What's new with your story...

  • Comment removed

  • what do u think caused him to turn off MAPO ?

or wat do u think caused this to happen in general ?

  • Comment removed

  • yo!! I was there last night with the fam, we got back to Miami just now and saw the news, we took the boat to getr back instead sometime around midnite. I swear it was a ZOO in there, everywhere really. WOW!! thank god for that boat

  • You know, I think you say You know too much. Interesting topic, you know?

  • I remember the last time I went to Disney World, they seem to have an issue with trafficking the monorails from what I saw. I think it was kinda inevitable.

    Your video is kinda...lame though. You might as well have just read it off of the yahoo homepage. > >;;

  • that totally sucks...my roommate works monorail ... he was working that night...all the walkie talkies went crazy when the monorail hit

  • Very sad story and soon we will know what happened........these trains have been operating for 38 years with not one fatality. The system is incredibly well maintained and super safe. I was a "pilot" as we were called during summer vacations. We went through SO much safety training. Safety was always the #1 priority. Condolences to the family of the lost cast member. As of today the entire system is shut down pending investigation.

  • There was a, you know, mono rail crash at the, um, you know, disney world, um... its tragic. You know? Dude, you are a nervous idiot and this video serves absolutely no purpose.

  • lmfaolmfao, ahhahahahahahahahahhaahhaahahhahaa

    i agreeee..
