Whats amazing is how cheap we can get stuff from China. I have no idea how they build stuff so cheap. I just had a friend ask me to rebuild the cart on his pressure washer. I told him it would probably be cheaper for him to throw it out and buy a whole new pressure washer from china. It just cost me over $100 just to refill the tanks on my torches. I cant even buy the materials and welding supplies to make the cart for less money than a brand new pressure washer for China.
What happened to the promises/pledges associated to Change We Can Believe In made by the legitimate US citizen President Barack "Barry" Hussein Obama II while he was a candidate?
Morally corrupt Democrats (The Obama's, the Clinton's with so many others) support Walmart Stores Inc by doing nothing.
Walmart Stores Inc with their associations and followers have not been able to discredit / disprove / debunk critics; Robert Greenwald, Michael Moore, Keith Olbermann, Jim Hightower, and others!
Morally corrupt Democrats (The Obama's, the Clinton's with so many others) support Walmart Stores Inc by doing nothing.
Google this:(fvn.no>Ny oppdrettsfisk er gull verdt) This money will be paid in Norway for delivery of wrasse-fishes to the salmon farming of fish! These fishes eliminates the need for chemicals and antibiotics in salmon farming, because they eat lice (gyrodactylus salaris) directly from the skin of salmon.
See 2 friends diving among this kind of fish at the Norwegian coast:
You know what? When I was a kid, my parents didn't allow me to shop at Wal-Mart. I never hated it. As I got older, I didn't mind but... I work at Wal-Mart now. It doesn't matter how much they hate it, the customers still come. They hate us, and we hate our jobs. When I started there I gathered information from all of them... No one enjoys their jobs. Not one. No one is proud to work there, everyone wants out, or can't get out... It's depressing to be in those walls.
Play as much pretty guitar music in the background that you like. You can't convince me that selling me a product cheaply is "corporate fascism".
I've been in WalMart stores, I buy from WalMart stores, and I think that WalMart stores are good for communities. If you run a local convenience store with high prices, and would prefer not to compete, that's too bad.
@DrCruel I agree completely. If a smaller less powerful business isn't clever or crafty enough to compete they deserve to fail. If you can't get the Chinese or the Mexicans to supply you with products manufactured for 23¢ an hour then that's your problem. Providing your employees with health benefits is a socialist/communist ploy to control the working class. Freedom & Democracy are only possible through exploitation of the most vulnerable members of a society. (Sarcasm) America is so fucked...
@KingKook That's right. We don't need a UAW guild of thugs destroying our automobile industry. We don't need an AFT and NEA looking out for the interests of union teachers - to the detriment of everyone else, including students. We don't need the AMA making health care so expensive, by artificially raising doctor's fees, that no one can afford it.
And incidentally - the reason the PRC, Vietnam and Cambodia can compel laborers to work on the cheap is because they're Marxist countries.
@DrCruel You have clouded your vision with fanciful, impractical ideology. The reason the USA is in trouble today is that we've never confronted the fact that this country was built on the backs & blood of exploited people throughout its history. Slavery enabled the cheap production of so much, and after slavery officially ended it was blatant exploitation of other disadvantaged groups, namely immigrants who worked in horrendous conditions for obscenely poor wages. We screwed ourselves...
@KingKook So what you're saying is that the reason we shouldn't buy cheap goods from Marxist countries is because we had slaves.
Gee. The Muslims seem to have had slaves before we did. Some countries, like Mauritania, still do. They don't seem to be nearly as prosperous as the US. Think maybe there might be an error in your arguments about where US prosperity came from - and why, since socialist ideas have taken over, that prosperity has turned into a bureaucracy of government entitlements...
@DrCruel Oh Sweet Sandaled Jesus In Air Conditioned Heaven, you need schooling. The USA prospered because we had ENORMOUS natural resources across a MASSIVE country that were developed free from the hampering control of a totalitarian government, true. But what's critical today is that this process of unrestrained exploitation is no longer viable. We cannot chop down forests, destroy mountains for ore, or excessively fertilize the land for food. We are at or past the limits of sustainability.
@KingKook Industrial development was the byproduct of a lack of the sort of elitist parasites that had developed in Europe over the last few thousands of years. Once the US became prosperous, the arrival and slow dominance of that faction became inevitable. At present, that faction is best represented by the Left, or socialists.
These elitists prosper by extracting wealth from the productive portion of society. What is meant by "restrained exploitation" is this extraction process.
@KingKook This zealous interest in "restraining exploitation" has nothing to do with creating a sustainable (or, using the newest buzzword, "restorative") ecosystem. The intent is to increase the power and control of the managerial class of society. Our present problem is that this managerial class has become so powerful, and so large, that the present economy is incapable of supporting them even at their present numbers. Our national debt is a result of their increasingly outrageous demands.
If we are "screwed", it is because this faction happens to control our government, and is absolutely uninterested in what their activities have done and will do to our economy. They will not stop until they do to our country what they have already done to Russia and Eastern Europe.
Now they want to legislatively control our purchase behavior. And you're trying to justify that control, because there were once slaves in the US? How does that justify enslaving all of us now?
@DrCruel You're giving WAY too much credit & power to the "managerial class" who largely are held captive to the false choices offered by the true criminals, the multinational corporations who hold NO allegiance or respect for any particular local concern. Mega-corps are operating at a level so far above the quaint laws that your "fascist leftist managerial class" spews out. Our governments, our entertainment, our education, our food supply, EVERYTHING is owned & abused by these demented corps.
@KingKook Again, the moonbat logic - I am supposed to assume that the targets of the rapacious interests of socialists - the people who make and provide the products people need and use - are the REAL criminals. The fascists who use race baiting and fear mongering to live like parasites off such people, and who demand that we live as they decide and do what they tell us, are actually our "benefactors".
No, I think the socialists can go piss off. I intend to keep on shopping at WalMart.
@DrCruel Insulting an idea that you do not agree with or understand does not prove your idea correct. Your reflexive denial of the "facts of life" is obscuring your view of how we're being sold out by the BIG MONEY interests. Just try & compete with the Big Boys & see what happens. Very very few industries tolerate actual innovation since it threatens their hegemony. The internet showed potential for challenging the status quo, but it too sold out. Walmart is a fat twisted whore. China Rules!!!
@KingKook The problem being that those big money interests run the unions, the public schools, and the welfare bureaucracy. And you don't see any of that, because these "monied interests" are part of the ideological faction that you favor.
As for China "ruling", I'm fine with it - so long as that means cheap, readily available consumer products of a high quality. Sounds like you want me to shop at WalMart.
@DrCruel CHINA RULES!! I was being sarcastic with that exclamation. Cheap foreign labor is what's eroding the American middle class, which historically had been the source of this country's strength. But with most of the manufacturing jobs oversees we are helpless to help ourselves. The rich are much richer & the poor are gradually getting poorer. You endorse, support, celebrate this condition by defending Walmart who profits from foreign slave wages & practices, but treats US workers like shit.
@KingKook A massive kleptocratic welfare bureaucracy is what's ruined the working middle class in the US - that is, the people who have been impoverished so that government employees can become rich. Raising the prices of the goods these working middle class people buy, to protect the jobs of lazy, overpaid union employees, won't fix that.
I'm all for treating workers in the US better. One good way to do that is to get rid of the welfare bureaucracy. Get rid of unions whie you're at it.
@DrCruel Do you know the percentage of aid dollars that go to the "kleptocratic" class - the poor welfare recipients - as compared to "assistance" lavished upon Corporations? It's not even close. Corporate welfare out strips poverty assistance more than 10:1. For every dollar spent on poverty Ten are spent on big corporate subsidies, grants, low interest loans, and outright graft. This includes the bloated corrupt military industrial complex that destabilizes our country. Reality, check it out.
@KingKook I know that over half of tax revenues come from the wealthy (top 5%). As for the "poor welfare recipients", they get practically nothing from welfare. It's the government employees that run the system that get the vast majority of money allocated to it. That's the "kleptocratic class" - the rich government employees, not the poor that live off their scraps.
Go on. Get rid of those "big corporations". See how long you can keep this scheme running without them.
@DrCruel Actually, from what the GAO reports, 50% of taxes come from the top 20%, so the ratio isn't quite so extreme as you state. You see, the top 5% - 10% are especially crafty at avoiding taxes through the myriad of tax loopholes & incentives, but have 80% of the wealth. The same goes for most major corporations who in fact pay less than any other class of "citizen" (corporations are people in the USA, now!). Big money talks. The Klepto class are small potatoes. Your are a bit mistaken.
@KingKook The Congressional Budget Office disagrees with you. Furthermore, the top 10% pays over 2/3rds of the tax burden. Indeed, much of the US tax revenue is drawn from corporate taxes - a real problem, as corporations like GM are driven into insolvency by rapacious unions.
As the government bureaucracy grows, the ability of the private sector to maintain it diminishes. These "small potatoes" have turned a vibrant capitalist society into a neo-socialist kleptocracy on the verge of ruin.
@DrCruel The top 10% do NOT pay over2/3rds of the tax burden. If you take into account the tax incentives, tax deferments & subsidies that the elite are party to, their actual burden drops considerably. The recalled capital gains tax nullified whatever increases the "reformed" code would have cost the elite. Then, the bulk of Obama's stimulus went to the top 10%. Then the profits of major corps continued to increase as the economic crash ravaged the lower middle "class". The richest are winning.
@KingKook Well we're in the process of finding out the truth of your claims, whether we want to or not. Our steel industry is gone, our shipbuilding industry is moribund and two of the three "evil" US car corporations are on the ropes. (Incidentally, they received an Obama "corporate" subsidy that went to preserve the overpaid jobs of UAW employees.)
Soon, we may very well see a US without any US corporations. Then we'll see who you blame all our problems and all our debts on.
@DrCruel Unfortunately the truth we're about to discover won't be revealing the cause of our demise, just that the whole experiment failed due to corruption, deceit, indifference & ignorance. They'll be no pint in sitting around debating the "what ifs" after it all collapses, we'll all be too busy scavenging for scraps...Howz that for a grim picture? Actually the fighting will only get worse as the elite privileged masters viciously defend their hard won, immoral booty. Road Warrior with SUVs...
@KingKook The "elite privileged masters"? Do you mean the Chinese Marxists, selling their slave labour in the name of proletarian liberation? How about the leaders of the AFT, the AMA, the UAW?
Meanwhile our union employees try to cling to their bloated salaries and benefits while the businesses they vilify are driven into debt and bankruptcy. The worst are unionized government employees, who shut down government when they don't get their payoffs.
@DrCruel OK, Enough already! You're starting to repeat yourself, & it's so tedious. Unions don't control SHIT in America anymore, unless we're talking about supermarket cashiers, but only in some states. Yeah, yeah, now you're gonna spout off about teachers... Jeez, you're like a trained parrot. You had just a couple interesting points & very little grace & style expressing them, so I think we've exhausted this interaction. I get your platform - down with anything not making YOUR life better...
Long story short - you can't fleece the business people and expect them to sit down and take it. They'll either move or close shop. The populists of socialism have had their way in the US, but their kleptocracy is unsustainable. What's been happening right before your eyes is the result.
But close them tight, if that makes you feel better. The result will be the same. The well is dry, and killing a popular retail store chain won't change that.
@DrCruel (Please read with your voice dripping in sarcasm) Oh, you DO suppose I'm aptly named?! Well, WHO do you suppose aptly named me?!
You really have no grasp of the concept of irony, do you?
You come off as a pompous belligerent blow hard. You don't see the noxious clouds of venom billowing from your gaping jabbering mouth...Picturesque, aye? Anyway, we both seem to agree the country's in serious trouble but we differ on where the real, core problem is. Ya see, there IS no core problem...
@KingKook I'd just as soon not put up with you being a vulgar jerk. If you can't maintain a base courtesy, I'd just as soon not have anything further to do with you.
I know where you stand, and you know where I stand. I intend to continue to shop at WalMart. You can do whatever you damn well please.
Incidentally, I've been typing my responses. If you've been having problems with a verbal dialogue in your head, that's not my fault.
@DrCruel You not only are completely oblivious of the concept of Irony but you're also lacking a working knowledge of Analogy. I am fairly aware that you were not actually vocally communicating with me. I was implying that I could easily IMAGINE you speaking your dark, vile words, and that I could picture them escaping your equally dark, repulsive mouth in billowing green toxic clouds. See, I was painting a mental picture. That takes imagination, something else you seem to lack. You Dullard...
@DrCruel Please read my comment which follows this one knowing that I believe that I've responded appropriately to a comment that was left for me by someone who chooses to identify themselves as DrCruel, which pretty much rules out taking ANYTHING that person has to say seriously. So I'm not taking you seriously. But I am responding as though you are a semi-mature, capable individual who should be able to emotionally tolerate a little bit of non-violent, but aggressive interaction. Am I right?..
@KingKook After being insulted repeatedly by Leftists, I took the name as a matter of defiance.
Go buy what you want, where you want. I intend to do as much, more often at WalMart as not. If you want to abuse someone with a smile, go find an S&M board.
@DrCruel You allow your most intimate, personal decisions, like your identity, to be governed by the forces you fear. That makes you a Reactionary. Do you understand the truth of this statement? You're a textbook reactionary, acting out against your perceived enemies by adopting the attitudes & behaviors that you believe will most antagonize them, even if you don't really believe these things you say & do. Do you see it, or are you in denial about the nature of your psychological condition?
@Freedan111 Unions in California are a small minority of the work force. Do you mean the entertainment industry? If that's your "world" then it might seem like unions are everywhere, but they're not. Farm workers in California deserve a fair living wage & decent humane treatment & recognition of the value of their work but they're treated like slaves, like animals. The farm workers union has no power because BIG money corporations are so despicable. TV & Movies are more important than food...
@Freedan111 Don't bother me with your stupid questions. Find things out for yourself. Research, investigate, do something other than assume you already know the truth.
Walmart takes insurance policies out on there employees!!!!... Watch Capitalism A Love Story By Michael Moore.... The man that lost his wife, & walmart got lots of money while his family struggled to pay her hospital bills, & funeral expenses.... Sad, very sad!
I have a co-worker (we dont work for Walmart) who has a roommate that works for Walmart. This roommate has been timed.... timed while doing her job. She's not the only one. they time alot of their employees. I notice they only harrass very skilled workers because management views them as potential threats. My friend has had raises and now management wants her gone. This roommate of my co-worker has received raises, now she's being harrassed.
CONNECTION: TWO WOMEN (one black one white) both harrassed by management because they are good workers actually beginning to make some decent money there at walmart.
i HAVE a friend who works at wal-mart. Her co-workers don't understand why she has to lift heavy extremely heavy stock and she only weighs 127 lbs. I KNOW THE REASON: She is the highest paid stocker (because she's been there the longest) so management is trying their best to get her out. She knows it, but her co-workers don't. They even appealed to her supervisor (the men that stocks along with her) to give her lighter stock to put on the shelves like food, or hair care, but he said "no".
Capitalism is not the EVIL here. Capitalism usually involves competition. Sam Walton devised a SINISTER strategy to only move into small towns where there was no competition. He shoved his oligopoly down the throats of the Mom & Pops he put out of business. I HATE WALMART.
Do the right thing?By who?yourselves and your greed?Do the Right Thing>Pay your employees a living wage, train managers and assistants people skills and how to treat employees like humans, hire more workers and quit slave-driving,Stop blocking walmart unionization, quit training managers how to cheat and block workers unemployment benefits. But you won't because you, your company and your attitudes suck.
This is a classic example of the imbalance of wealth and mistreatment of fellow human beings on a global scale ! Everyone should watch this ! This really is capitalism unchecked. I am very disappointed !

If you hate Walmart, you hate America. The reason Walmart is successful and others aren't is because they give people what they want. Tough shit if your business can't keep up.
@DarthHater100 at what cost do you get what you want & do you know what they do for this sounds very ignorant ~ One day you will learn the price of CHEAP & slave labor ! Bless you
@Maiyaee It's not slave labor. Nobody forces them to get the job. They wouldn't work there if they didn't realize that they would rather work there, than not work at all. I've worked jobs for minimum wage too, and it was because that was the best I could do at the time with my resume. Do you think working at Walmart is a hard job or something? BTW Walmart is on the stalk market which EVERYONE can share in the profits. You obviously don't understand how the free market works.
@DarthHater100 So this justifies taking advantage of Ones situation for profit ? This is not a matter of hard or intellect it is the point of dignity & humanity . This is not a free market , it is a fixed market ! Do you have any idea at the behavior Walmart has practiced over the years on its way to mass proportion & mass cheap consumer consumption ? I only hope you don't ever end up in a position where You have to work for such a inhumane & unethical establishment ! Peace ~ happy holidays
Walmart is not taking advantage of people for profit. Walmart has is a successful business model and lazy people with no education or skills get paid to pretty much do nothing. When I worked for minimum wage, I was busting my ass ten times harder then they do. They don't even break a sweat or have to make hard decisions. How is it inhumane and unethical to work for minimum wage? Those people are lucky they have a job. - happy holidays:)
walmart creates and economies of scale that does more to help poor people, than the government. Its sad when small business goes out of business, walmart creates many more jobs and savings that creates a net bennefit for all. The small business just cant do it. For example, If we protected the horse and bubby, no one would have a car. Whats the greater good?? Walmart should be everywhere
Sure we'll have wealth but it's going to be concentrated in a small % of the population and the rest of the American population will be at their mercy. O wait ..i think i just described America as it is now.
The irony is these people are conservatives, however the Republicans in congress are for big business, the same big business that are driving those hard working small town americans away. I don't get it. Shoot yourselves in the foot much?
@Shannonmrgrt American products are actually bad, automobiles especially. They are gas-guzzling monsters that eat too much fuel. My dad used to own an American SUV in the early 80s and got rid of them in favor of Toyota which is a lot more economical.
I don't understand one thing: if everybody is so against it, why do people still purchase their things there? I mean, you can choose where you can buy your stuff, and if they are making so much money and dropping all other competition, that's because a lot of people are giving their money to them.
@bsdslacker in this trying time, it's economically feasible for those making ends meet to shop at a store with the lowest prices, even if it's minimally smaller than other retail outlets (I've noticed other discount chains, like Target, sell their goods at just a slightly higher price).
@cajayson8301 Then I find it hard to complain if they are just offering better prices to the people, which is what they are looking for. Of course, small enterprises get affected when such a monster decides to settle in. I suppose their commerce practices is what they are complaining about....
It has not hurt as much as it helped.I personally choose to shop at the Dollar General just cause it's cheaper if you have no where else to shop.Shop on line so please don't feel you have to be a Wall Martian like their employees lol.
The bigger u r the harder u fall. It is hard to say weather wall mart business practices are sinical or not American like.It is every American s dream to grow and prosper. The right question should be are the Waltons sympathatic or just monguls.Well based on the video I saw they are typical right hard line cash conservitive s which are mostly hurting other conservitive s.As in the great state of NJ where their are three with in a ten mile radius
@TheIlluminism the business practice isn't what you need to worry about a corporation, it's their mission statement. which pretty much says profit comes first. Before people, before morality, before the American people. PROFITS WILL DESTROY AMERICA.
i dont know why people hate walmart. Buisness is buisness, if I owned a company I would try to destroy my competition, and your only fooling yourself if you say you wouldnt.
@gunslinger97658 watch the entire thing, then tell me you do hate them, and if you condone what wal-mart does, your are evil...EXAMPLE: wal-mart asks its workers to donate a few dollers from their pay for charity, total wal-mart workers gave 5 million dollers, the Waltons gave 6,000 total. each of the Waltons are worth about 20 billion. Tell me thats not evil.
@spartanmstrEB so they ASK their workers to donate to charity, same as a boy scout does, they can say no. Even still its not like the moneys being used to buy hookers, its going to a good cause. Also, the entire family is worht $20 billion but that doesnt mean they have $20 billion in their bank accounts. Its all tied up in stocks, what people do with their money is no concern of mine, buisness is buisness and if people go bankrupt because of it, welcome to america, home of capitalism.
This hardware store closed 3 months before Walmart opened in the area; The owner said Walmart had nothing to do with it. Another hardware store opened in the same spot, and has done well for itself. Do a Google search for 'High Cost of Low Credibility' and read the article; This 'documentary' is full of lies, just like something Michael Moore would make.
@DevSodDribble so what if one of the examples wasn't true. I think you're missing the main point of this whole documentary. And yes I know it is very biased
fuck walmart, good employer, ha, thats bullshit, they screw you over every chance they get, fire you for no reason, let the boycott of wal-mart begin!
I am a conservative Republican and I just want to say this.... My party has lost it's way many years ago.... Instead of becoming a party of individual rights, they have become a puppet of corporate interest. They are bought and paid for as much as the Democratic party is hence the "neo-conservative" moniker they have earned. There are very few true conservatives left in my party. The so-called "Republican Leaders" nowadays are just paid hacks.
@clusterfocked We need another Republican like President Theodore Roosevelt Dwight David Eisenhower and Earl Warren California Governor and Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. Rob Walton, H Lee Scott and many need to be expose with facts not innuendos. Read Made in America and compare with what they actually do. Rob Walton and Costco cannot refute most of the their critics.
This is the proto-typical neo-con corporate wet dream. Let me tell you something people.... Neo_Cons ARE NOT TRUE CONSERVATIVES!!!!! There are very few of them left. True conservatives believe in individual rights not corporate rights!!!! Both parties are to blame for this nightmare!!!! Our government is bought and paid for and it's both parties!!!!
AT&T was essentially a monopoly. Wal-Mart has competition from Target, Sears, Costco, Best Buy, Lowe's, Home Depot, Kroger, TJX, JcPenny, and at least a dozen others. Still, Wal-Mart is harmful to their suppliers and to retailer smaller than another major retail chain.
I work for this company. I am sick and tired of people telling me to "quit if you don't like your job." The way it used to be in this country was that if you didn't know what you wanted to do with your life, you could go to the local factory and make a decent living and retire some what comfortably. Now that isn't possible. You either spend a shit load of money on a degree that may or may not get you a job, you go into the military, or you go to jail. God bless the American dream!
lowering wages for americans, importing chinese products made by exploited third world children for the most part, running local merchants out of business takes away our quality of life and ruins local economies, lowers property values of every town they move into, forces unpaid overtime under threat of job termination, any workers rights we have now had to be TAKEN....because multi national corporations have never and will never give people anything they arent FORCED to.........~ecruels
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
1) If you don't like working for Wal-Mart, than QUIT.
2) If you can't get a job anywhere else, Wal-Mart will at least give you one when no one else will. At least your income is greater than ZERO. And thats if YOU CHOOSE to work there.
3) Lastly, a business will not succeed unless people BUY THEIR PRODUCT and people will do that FOR A REASON. People choose to make Wal-Mart successful.
Yeah...Stop whining!! If you're thrown in Gitmo you should be thankful that you have a cage to protect you! If you're rejected for health care treatment, you should be thankful that you can die in the greatest country on earth! You should thank the IRS and the Fed for allowing you to contribute to the slaughter of innocent people and the enslavement of your country! Don't forget to thank Bush for 9/11 too!
Just because it COULD BE WORSE does NOT mean that it SHOULDN'T BE BETTER!! Remember that!
Typical neo- conservative mentality. Go have Herbert Spencer, Rush, and Glenn fuck you up the ass! Then you can crack your Bible open and poison the minds of some impressionable children by telling the they're going to spend eternity in hell if they don't follow your straight and narrow path. Go preach fiscal conservatism while planning to slaughter hundreds of thousands of innocent lives in the middle east to protect our freedom, while running up record deficits at the same time. Fuck you!
If you're looking for record deficits, look no further than the current administration. Wal-Mart is not all bad; it brings jobs to communities of people around the world. It also saves the average American family about $1,000 a year.
I'm not talking about the national deficit. That's a different topic that has nothing to do with what I'm getting at. Jobs at Wal-Mart rely on exports from other countries where their citizens are producers and savers. They ship their crap to us expecting buy it with credit that is no longer available. A nation that doesn't produce it's own goods cannot survive. Wal-Mart jobs should have never replaced our manufacturing base. Service sector jobs cannot sustain us through a recession. It's simple
@ImperialOrwell - However, it costs the taxpayers billions in government funded healthcare that they encourage!!!! Are you retarded or just ignorant???
Your typical neoconservative party line opinion is why people are on welfare, you fucking choad! When there aren't enough companies making capital investments, there aren't going to be enough people who are working. You have to encourage jobs to be created in order to get people to work. Wal-Mart contributes to the trade deficit which in return destroys everyones standard of living. This is something you would know if you were so far up Rush and Glenn's ass. You neo-con party line prick!
What companies do they serve so well? How do they save us money so we can live better? Live better than who? Not a Walton they make millions every year off of the hard work of others.
I don't like Walmart but, damn it. They are the only major store where the cashiers don't hassle customers to "sign up" The competitions needs to get a clue!
Wal-Mart saves no one money. The majority of their workers are on welfare - they don't pay their workers a living wage so the tax payers pay for them. Why doesn't Wal-Mart have to pay its workers?
Why are the given millions of dollars in corporate welfare each year - money for land, free land, tax breaks, etc. This comes out of your pocket. How is that saving you money? It is helping with their bottom line.
If you love your country but don't like where its headed then please visit my website for some great, factual and scientifically based information:
@BoneThugzNHarmony Capitalism is an economic system that is much like what democratic republics are to government systems: a flawed but relatively good choice among many, many bad options. If you don't like capitalism, then can you suggest a practical alternative that doesn't involve central planning or standing on line for government cheese?
dude I'd love to argue this, but i've been doing it for so long...So what would you rather have instead of "waiting for cheese" having it so only those who can afford line up? And those who can't let them starve?
How about socialism - not lemon socialism like we have here in the U. S. where corporations are given millions in corporate welfare while the people suffer.
@stassiface But..the eveil here is not capitalism. Capitalism usually involves competition. Sam Walton devised a sinister strategy where there was no competition and purposely put the small Mom & Pops out of business. Other stores develop a target market and go after that share of the market that's... competition. Sam Walton forced his small town oligopoly down the throats of Mom & Pops in every small town he could. I hate Walmart.
@stassiface Capitalism is not the EVIL here. Capitalism usually involves Competition. Sam Walton devised a SINISTER strategy to move only into small towns where there was NO COMPETITION. His philosophy was to shove his oligopoly down the throats of the Mom & Pops he put out of business. I HATE WALMART.
I've supplied Wal-Mart with my speaker enclosures. They can care less about made in the USA. They purchased my products for a short period of time then sent a auditor to check my manufacturing cost and profits. They came to the conclusion that I could give THEM a better price if I had it made in China. I told them that I've never dealt with anyone in China and wouldn't know where to start. They said that they had connections and they would help. I declined and 2 weeks latter they dropped me.
I hate to tell that guy with the glasses Sam is smiling his ass off in his grave. Sam was openly against minimum wage. He felt it was wrong for the government to tell him waht to pay HIS employees, so this crap where oh Sam this or oh Sam wouldn't this is a load of bullshit!!!
yes and that is entirely walmarts fault. millions of families can either find another job or move to canada for health care. but you can't tell me you honestly beleive that it is ALL walmarts fault. dont be a retarded american.
did u really just say that they can find another job? that millions of people looking for new jobs when millions of people just layed off because of the economy. And dont call me a stupid American when America is the most powerful country in the world for a reason
just because america is powerful won't stop me from freedom of speech. what are ya gonna do? go up to obama and say "this guy was mean to me online, go blow up canada." you are a stupid american if you think your countries power matters to me. to be frank, i dont really care about this topic anymore, i just wish you americans would stop bitching about everything, get the mcdonalds out of your face and do something with your lives except for complain. (yes i see the irony right now, haha)
This was ridiculous. They showed a furniture store out of business because of Walmart. Have they never stepped foot into the furniture department of a walmart? It will never cause a furniture store to go out of business. Or any specialty store for that matter. And does anyone realize how Sam Walton started? He started off like that man near the beginning. He didn't have money. He had a small building and he was practically selling things at cost so people could afford it. And he was successful.

DrCruel 7 months ago
@DrCruel I agree completely. If a smaller less powerful business isn't clever or crafty enough to compete they deserve to fail. If you can't get the Chinese or the Mexicans to supply you with products manufactured for 23¢ an hour then that's your problem. Providing your employees with health benefits is a socialist/communist ploy to control the working class. Freedom & Democracy are only possible through exploitation of the most vulnerable members of a society. (Sarcasm) America is so fucked...
KingKook 5 months ago
@KingKook That's right. We don't need a UAW guild of thugs destroying our automobile industry. We don't need an AFT and NEA looking out for the interests of union teachers - to the detriment of everyone else, including students. We don't need the AMA making health care so expensive, by artificially raising doctor's fees, that no one can afford it.
And incidentally - the reason the PRC, Vietnam and Cambodia can compel laborers to work on the cheap is because they're Marxist countries.
DrCruel 5 months ago
@DrCruel You have clouded your vision with fanciful, impractical ideology. The reason the USA is in trouble today is that we've never confronted the fact that this country was built on the backs & blood of exploited people throughout its history. Slavery enabled the cheap production of so much, and after slavery officially ended it was blatant exploitation of other disadvantaged groups, namely immigrants who worked in horrendous conditions for obscenely poor wages. We screwed ourselves...
KingKook 5 months ago
@KingKook So what you're saying is that the reason we shouldn't buy cheap goods from Marxist countries is because we had slaves.
Gee. The Muslims seem to have had slaves before we did. Some countries, like Mauritania, still do. They don't seem to be nearly as prosperous as the US. Think maybe there might be an error in your arguments about where US prosperity came from - and why, since socialist ideas have taken over, that prosperity has turned into a bureaucracy of government entitlements...
DrCruel 5 months ago
@DrCruel Oh Sweet Sandaled Jesus In Air Conditioned Heaven, you need schooling. The USA prospered because we had ENORMOUS natural resources across a MASSIVE country that were developed free from the hampering control of a totalitarian government, true. But what's critical today is that this process of unrestrained exploitation is no longer viable. We cannot chop down forests, destroy mountains for ore, or excessively fertilize the land for food. We are at or past the limits of sustainability.
KingKook 5 months ago
@KingKook Industrial development was the byproduct of a lack of the sort of elitist parasites that had developed in Europe over the last few thousands of years. Once the US became prosperous, the arrival and slow dominance of that faction became inevitable. At present, that faction is best represented by the Left, or socialists.
These elitists prosper by extracting wealth from the productive portion of society. What is meant by "restrained exploitation" is this extraction process.
DrCruel 5 months ago
@KingKook This zealous interest in "restraining exploitation" has nothing to do with creating a sustainable (or, using the newest buzzword, "restorative") ecosystem. The intent is to increase the power and control of the managerial class of society. Our present problem is that this managerial class has become so powerful, and so large, that the present economy is incapable of supporting them even at their present numbers. Our national debt is a result of their increasingly outrageous demands.
DrCruel 5 months ago
If we are "screwed", it is because this faction happens to control our government, and is absolutely uninterested in what their activities have done and will do to our economy. They will not stop until they do to our country what they have already done to Russia and Eastern Europe.
Now they want to legislatively control our purchase behavior. And you're trying to justify that control, because there were once slaves in the US? How does that justify enslaving all of us now?
DrCruel 5 months ago
@DrCruel You're giving WAY too much credit & power to the "managerial class" who largely are held captive to the false choices offered by the true criminals, the multinational corporations who hold NO allegiance or respect for any particular local concern. Mega-corps are operating at a level so far above the quaint laws that your "fascist leftist managerial class" spews out. Our governments, our entertainment, our education, our food supply, EVERYTHING is owned & abused by these demented corps.
KingKook 5 months ago

KingKook 5 months ago
@KingKook The problem being that those big money interests run the unions, the public schools, and the welfare bureaucracy. And you don't see any of that, because these "monied interests" are part of the ideological faction that you favor.
As for China "ruling", I'm fine with it - so long as that means cheap, readily available consumer products of a high quality. Sounds like you want me to shop at WalMart.
DrCruel 5 months ago
@DrCruel CHINA RULES!! I was being sarcastic with that exclamation. Cheap foreign labor is what's eroding the American middle class, which historically had been the source of this country's strength. But with most of the manufacturing jobs oversees we are helpless to help ourselves. The rich are much richer & the poor are gradually getting poorer. You endorse, support, celebrate this condition by defending Walmart who profits from foreign slave wages & practices, but treats US workers like shit.
KingKook 5 months ago

KingKook 5 months ago
@KingKook I know that over half of tax revenues come from the wealthy (top 5%). As for the "poor welfare recipients", they get practically nothing from welfare. It's the government employees that run the system that get the vast majority of money allocated to it. That's the "kleptocratic class" - the rich government employees, not the poor that live off their scraps.
Go on. Get rid of those "big corporations". See how long you can keep this scheme running without them.

KingKook 5 months ago
@DrCruel Actually, from what the GAO reports, 50% of taxes come from the top 20%, so the ratio isn't quite so extreme as you state. You see, the top 5% - 10% are especially crafty at avoiding taxes through the myriad of tax loopholes & incentives, but have 80% of the wealth. The same goes for most major corporations who in fact pay less than any other class of "citizen" (corporations are people in the USA, now!). Big money talks. The Klepto class are small potatoes. Your are a bit mistaken.
KingKook 5 months ago
@KingKook The Congressional Budget Office disagrees with you. Furthermore, the top 10% pays over 2/3rds of the tax burden. Indeed, much of the US tax revenue is drawn from corporate taxes - a real problem, as corporations like GM are driven into insolvency by rapacious unions.
As the government bureaucracy grows, the ability of the private sector to maintain it diminishes. These "small potatoes" have turned a vibrant capitalist society into a neo-socialist kleptocracy on the verge of ruin.
DrCruel 5 months ago
@DrCruel The top 10% do NOT pay over2/3rds of the tax burden. If you take into account the tax incentives, tax deferments & subsidies that the elite are party to, their actual burden drops considerably. The recalled capital gains tax nullified whatever increases the "reformed" code would have cost the elite. Then, the bulk of Obama's stimulus went to the top 10%. Then the profits of major corps continued to increase as the economic crash ravaged the lower middle "class". The richest are winning.
KingKook 5 months ago
@KingKook Well we're in the process of finding out the truth of your claims, whether we want to or not. Our steel industry is gone, our shipbuilding industry is moribund and two of the three "evil" US car corporations are on the ropes. (Incidentally, they received an Obama "corporate" subsidy that went to preserve the overpaid jobs of UAW employees.)
Soon, we may very well see a US without any US corporations. Then we'll see who you blame all our problems and all our debts on.

I don't understand one thing: if everybody is so against it, why do people still purchase their things there? I mean, you can choose where you can buy your stuff, and if they are making so much money and dropping all other competition, that's because a lot of people are giving their money to them.
bsdslacker 1 year ago
@bsdslacker in this trying time, it's economically feasible for those making ends meet to shop at a store with the lowest prices, even if it's minimally smaller than other retail outlets (I've noticed other discount chains, like Target, sell their goods at just a slightly higher price).

@clusterfocked Republicans = Confederates.
JinxOz 1 year ago

This comment has received too many negative votes show
1) If you don't like working for Wal-Mart, than QUIT.
4) Stop your whining.
tbdave88 2 years ago

Fuck you!
rosiechanel 1 year ago
If you're looking for record deficits, look no further than the current administration. Wal-Mart is not all bad; it brings jobs to communities of people around the world. It also saves the average American family about $1,000 a year.
ImperialOrwell 1 year ago
I'm not talking about the national deficit. That's a different topic that has nothing to do with what I'm getting at. Jobs at Wal-Mart rely on exports from other countries where their citizens are producers and savers. They ship their crap to us expecting buy it with credit that is no longer available. A nation that doesn't produce it's own goods cannot survive. Wal-Mart jobs should have never replaced our manufacturing base. Service sector jobs cannot sustain us through a recession. It's simple
rosiechanel 1 year ago
@ImperialOrwell - However, it costs the taxpayers billions in government funded healthcare that they encourage!!!! Are you retarded or just ignorant???
clusterfocked 1 year ago
Your typical neoconservative party line opinion is why people are on welfare, you fucking choad! When there aren't enough companies making capital investments, there aren't going to be enough people who are working. You have to encourage jobs to be created in order to get people to work. Wal-Mart contributes to the trade deficit which in return destroys everyones standard of living. This is something you would know if you were so far up Rush and Glenn's ass. You neo-con party line prick!

Why do they saw squiggly? That is so idiotic.

IBMeddling 2 years ago
Wal-Mart saves no one money. The majority of their workers are on welfare - they don't pay their workers a living wage so the tax payers pay for them. Why doesn't Wal-Mart have to pay its workers?
Why are the given millions of dollars in corporate welfare each year - money for land, free land, tax breaks, etc. This comes out of your pocket. How is that saving you money? It is helping with their bottom line.
Wal-Mart saving them money so they can make more!

BoneThugzNHarmony 2 years ago 4
@BoneThugzNHarmony Capitalism is an economic system that is much like what democratic republics are to government systems: a flawed but relatively good choice among many, many bad options. If you don't like capitalism, then can you suggest a practical alternative that doesn't involve central planning or standing on line for government cheese?
dancinginthedarkroom 2 years ago
@dancinginthedarkroom
dude I'd love to argue this, but i've been doing it for so long...So what would you rather have instead of "waiting for cheese" having it so only those who can afford line up? And those who can't let them starve?
BoneThugzNHarmony 2 years ago
How about socialism - not lemon socialism like we have here in the U. S. where corporations are given millions in corporate welfare while the people suffer.
How about Participatory Economics?

@stassiface NOT CAPITALISM... CORPORATISM. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE! UGH!
Bulldog22031 1 year ago 2
@stassiface But..the eveil here is not capitalism. Capitalism usually involves competition. Sam Walton devised a sinister strategy where there was no competition and purposely put the small Mom & Pops out of business. Other stores develop a target market and go after that share of the market that's... competition. Sam Walton forced his small town oligopoly down the throats of Mom & Pops in every small town he could. I hate Walmart.

China-mart started out advertising that everything was Made in the US. They bought up all their suppliers, closed them, and sent the work to China.
