  • Absolutely beautiful. He has the most amazing voice.

  • Im in love. He is amazing. Thanks Raul.

  • Where you been Raul?

  • who in the world could be talking while this song was being performed?!?!?! really amazingly underrated,

  • Roy has always been my hero... saw him in person,... Raul and Roy would have been great in concert. They will be... in heaven..

  • @TheCougar001 If you have never heard the duet of them together from 1998 "Bridge Over Troubled Water", message me in private mail with your email address and I will send it to you, its still unreleased, the original is Roys original 1973 version from his final recording session, and Raul added his vocals to it, and for some reason, the powers that be, never released it.

  • Roy has always been my hero... saw him in person,... Raul and Roy wold been great in concert. They will be... in heaven..

  • I would of loved to see Raul Malo and Roy Orbison in concert in the same stage.

  • Excellent ! ...

  • RAUL IS SIMPLY THE BEST!

  • good job raul, it still belongs to roy O.

  • anyone who chats at a Raul Malo concert is missing out big time. shut up and listen to this unparalled

    led

singing his heart out...people chatting in the audience...shut the hell up and listen to this genius!

  • Wow...again..Roy would be proud!

    Awesome!

  • @SuperHarrygeorge KD Lang's is as good or even better, which shocked me because I thought Raul's version had to be as good as it gets

  • This man has a wonderful unique voice.

  • SWEET GOD IN HEAVEN, THAT WAS SPOT ON!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, I got freakin chills.

  • Anybody know what his guitar is?

  • @1Ma9iN8tive - It's a Fender Jaguar

  • @jmoore122869 I want one

  • @SuperHarrygeorge Chris Isaak does a pretty fine job singing them as well.

  • The Big O, K D Lang and Raul Malo.....they all know how this song should be sung!!

  • this is beautiful, seems like the people would have been quiet while he was singing!

  • If I hadn't heard the Roy Orbison version first, I would say that was the most beautiful song I had ever heard. Believe me. That is a compliment.

  • kd lang used did this song....amazing too

  • Just amazing!!!

  • the unappreciated voice of country ...love this guy

  • @barrackbuster Amen to that!Tim McGraw wishes he could sing like that.

  • Wherever that venue, the audience should've sat in stunned silence, listening to Raul's beautiful covering of one of the greatest songs ever written. Instead they chuckled, blabbed and ordered drinks. They were given a gift from Raul, and from Roy, given so very much. They barely realized it till the end. Over such boorishness, I'm crying...

  • @billotsad

    Well said, couldn't agree more.

  • @billotsad that is for sure, they were so rude, you know some people have no manners, do they?

I wish that I could have been there, I would have told them the SHUT-UP!

  • he does ol roy proud.

  • It's one thing to play in a bar. It's another thing however to quiet what was a talkative crowd into silence. Then get a standing O.

  • any of this songs available on cd?

  • His voice...powerful!

  • Not Many people can pull off a Roy Orbison song. but Raul is a talented man.

  • Saw him live for the 1st time last night, at the Coach House. Magic!

  • Sounds like Orbison!! Raul Malo is absolutely awesome!!!

  • That's P U R T Y!

  • Fantastic...

  • Nailed it.

  • @drumrnva

    Nailed is right..damn tootin!

  • if someone tried to talk to me during this I would just politely lean over and head butt their face and sit back and enjoy this awesome performance ..even those ignorant people can't help but keep quiet at the end. I wish I was there Raul Malo and Chris Isaak have the best voices

  • @polarbeach I love your comment!! How can they not show the respect and awe he inspires when he sings. I can't imagine how he must love what he does to be able to take that! But at least they finally caught on I think, that it was a privilege to be there.

  • BRILLIANT!

  • Roy would be proud!

  • Every one of those stupid louts yakking while this Raul sings this song should have been taken outside and stomped on.

  • 100% correct !

  • I $^$^#^& AGREE!!!!!!!!!!

  • Raul Malo is just as magical as Roy Orbison & wouldn't they have been amazing singing together?

  • I personally preffer Roy but raul malo's version of crying is very cool.

For the duets,if you search on the channel of my friends tinorbison, you'll find bridge over troubled water by roy and raul but really,I'm not shure it's real, roy is dead in 1988 and I find on wikipedia the mavericks (then raul malo) started in 1989.

  • This is the 'uppermost of the toppermost'!!!

  • His voice makes me melt.

  • I saw Roy do Running Scared at Expo 86 in Vancouver, the crowd was so loud,...after he finished the song and the thunder died down,he very quietly played it angain,...other than Roy and his guitar you couldnt hear a peep outa the crowd! You have to respect performers that are that talented, let the show off their craft,..thats what we paid for, and give them the thunder after the tune.

Learn from the Beatles, they hated live shows cause no one could hear them over the thundering screaming!!!

    !

  • A bunch of rude dumb fucks trying to dround out his singing sounds just like a bunch of assholes

  • I agree, your there to hear an amazing voice. If your there to talk, go to a fuckin ACDC concert. People are just stupid and fuckin ignorant!!!

  • roguefella present - is there love

  • Thank you for allowing me to listen to another god-like voice. You truly are magnificent!!!

    BRAVO

  • Awesome performance. Didn't think anyone could get this close to the Big O's ethereal rock-operatic version. Having said this, it's still Roy's song, just because of his unmatchable voice but you can't beat Raul for the emotion that gives me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes.

  • OMG I love this ! :)

  • Yea. Shiver-inducing voice. One of my most favorite vocalists, possibly ever. A rich, deep, soulful, fragile, but hauntingly beautiful voice.

  • Where in the world was this made? What rude

jerks in the background? Shut the hell up...

  • It's Gruene Hall in Gruene, Texas.... There are more 16 year olds there on any given summer night than there are weirdos in Austin.... They don't know who Raul Malo is.... they don't know who the Mavericks are / were .... and they certainly don't know who Roy Orbison is.... There are probably some of their PARENTS who don't know who Roy O is.....

Sort of like me & Jimmie Rogers, Jim Ed Brown, and others.... I guess I oughta' shut up...

  • I listen to this beautiful voice and have this urge to scream to the rude people talking ... to Shut the Fuck up!!

Why bother to come and see an entertainer and then talk all throughout his performance of stage??!! NO CLASS!!

  • This voice is IMO the closest we'll ever get to Roy Orbisons....not sure it will ever be matched so Raul coming this close is good enough for me. And yes, the people talking throughout this performance deserve a slap, mannerless twerps

  • Couldn't agree more.

Raul is fantastic but will always be in Roys shadow. Both tremedous though.

  • the people in the background talking are idiots!!!how and why in GODS name would you talk during this amazing performance?

  • i love raul, but roy was so great, this song is owned by him,but good effort raul, think roy would have liked it,but it lacks the power of the BIG O.

  • I love Raul's voice but I don't know where he was singing this , the people are not very smart in the background, they need to listen to such a great voice !!!

  • Thanks for posting this vid Shirley - great version.

  • Yeah, not only does he do it great but you have to have some serious guts to even attempt this song-especially live. It can go so, so horribly wrong in so many different ways. I think he did a great job. And only his own accompaniment at that. Excellent.

  • Hat tip to RO....super job Raul...be well your old bud...Lou

  • Thank you posting this. Raul is one of my favorites of all time. Rock solid talent!

  • I think Roy Orbison would be very pleased with Malo's version and I can't think of any other contemporary singer who could do it better.--arnie113

  • Chris Isaak

  • I ment to giveu a thumbs up ...hit the wrong button .

  • K D Lang and me!

  • The spelling is "you're" (a first class idiot) rather than "your." OK? I'm a terrible speller too but I hate it when one person is insulting another and they mispell words. It make 'em look dumb.

  • semitar6 Nix

  • He is the best male singer around today! Hands down....No one compares...

  • THE VELVET VOICE! Hands down the best male singer ever!

  • Dr Apologetics, you're a wanker pal, nothing more and nothing less. Why is the net full of jerks like you who post comments simply to try and goad people into agruements although i've already answered my own question....you're a wanker!

  • Raul has a fabulous voice but, this song scares the heck out of the best of singers.

It's hard to relax and belt this one out. Though Fred Foster is the credited executive "Producer" on the original Roy Orbison song, it was if fact, my husband who produced "Crying." He is credited as "Conductor" but the truth is, back in 1961, Fred Foster couldn't even tap his foot in time let alone produce a record.

  • hey Kitta, your right and when I sing this song i sing it in Roys key but I have to change keys of the song to stay with it. It's hard to sing as low as roy

  • i can't believe this hasn't been viewed millions of times...my 2 year old and 3 year old kids ask for it by name and we watch it almost every day...I am in love with this man's voice

  • Wow - what an incredible voice! Love Raul's rendition of this old Roy Orbison song.

  • I came across him by accident in iTunes couple years ago and fell in love with his sound!! Since then, bought many of his songs, love his voice. I will always think of Roy Orbison though when hearing this song.

  • "This man has the best voice I've ever heard and if you don't agree you can kiss my ass."

    -David Letterman

    (that's a paraphrase but it's close enough!)

  • OMG..Such an amazing voice.

  • If I were a woman, I'd want to marry this guy...what a voice! I always thought Sinatra was the epitome of the male voice, but this guy sets a new standard.

  • Hey I'm a woman and I'd marry this guy in a heart beat :P

    His voice is soooo enticing.

  • This man speaks volumes through his powerful voice and music.

He sang "Moon River" once here in Pittsburgh and it brought me to tears.

I'll be seeing him this Thursday as he returns to Pittsburgh.

    What a performer!

  • It's amazing how you can see Raul evolve from the clips here on youtube .. from the slim clean-shaven guy leading the Mavericks to the bigger buy he is today. And I much prefer his current look! Makes him look a lot friendlier and cuddlier ..

    His voice is just immaculate.

  • He is just to good. Admit it and get over it okay ? Just joking. He can call it country all he wants, but as long as he sings, I'll be willing to listen :-)

  • god that man can sing, ive been hooked to his voice for years now

  • What I want to know is... how can people TALK during this performance??? Clueless....

  • i agree...silence would have been so much more appropriate at the end..instead of a drunken whoop...

  • I was there!!! I have never heard this man sing a sour note. Some of those people there didn't understand the presence they were in.

  • You are so right! They had no idea, that this man is a voice from heaven. He picks up your spirit and gives you part of his energy, with each perfect note he hits. Don't ever stop singing Raul!

  • He is the BEST!!!! You should get his 2007 ACL live CD. I was there too. It's great! I'm so in love with this guy!

  • I have him singing with Roy ' Bridge over troubled waters' I think it was one of the last things Roy did............ Raul seemingly mixed it later ......... correct me if I am wrong.

  • Raul's definitely up there with Roy!

  • Incomparable.

  • This is one of the best things I've heard him do, which is really saying something! I just LOVE his voice....

  • I'm speechless...he is better than anyone!

  • Shiiiiiiiiiitttt......Raul's da man...

  • best voice in our universe today - raw pure unadulterated talent, without the usual "side effects /sex" other musicians need to sell their CD's....

  • Best voice on earth.

  • I have been a Mavericks and Raul fan since the debut album came out prior to From Hell to Paradise. I love these guys and Raul has a voice that was given as a gift from God. My wife and I saw him at Philadelphia a while back and he sang "In Dreams" The way he sang it brought me to tears. Not many singers have that amazing gift, but he does.

  • This man has the best voice in music today!
