May sound silly, but I thought Pak sao da was literally trap/punch on the same beat? Like with Lop sao you don't pull the hand THEN punch, you pull AND punch. Does anyone know what kind of attributes this training will develop? I am curious.
Ps. I don't think it's good to judge capability on the quality of a beginning level instructional viideo.
i am curious as to why you have missed out so many of the positive things about wing chun and taking certain techniques and modified them so much, such as your elbow postioning during punch and It also seems you have completely misplaced the relaxed state that is so important to wing chun. i am not hating on you at all so please do not misinterpret my questions i am just curious as to why you do it this way instead of the way it is taught?
@digitalrealms Who said I fought a pro mma fighter? I'm talking about street here against losers who thought they were hard cause they were in a group
In response to some of the comments about them not punching "in range". The point of this drill isn't to be trying to punch each other, it's to teach you how to "feel" the different sensations of push and pull ( See Lop Sao drills for another example ). If you'd ever studied JKD in the slightest you'd under stand this. As for it not being as accurate as traditional wing chung, this is because it is an adaption of a wing chung technique. JKD is not about moulding arts together.
The bottom line people is this is a sensitivity drill. It has a very real practical application. For anyone who practices Martial Arts.. either Wing Chun or JKD or even Filipino Martial Arts understands this. This is a very good starting point.

Haha she's pretty cute ^_^ i took wing tsun for a year now I take krav maga been doin it for about 8 months now but this kifightingconcepts is pretty cool I'm going to have to get me some videos
PS: Relax when throwing those punches. You want the fist to be like the end of a whip. Deliver the power from your hip and root. Don't leave the fist out there, snap it back, and collect something on the way back. Don't come back empty handed. A fight is very much like chess. The first few strikes are often a setup. Remember your footwork, don't lunge in reaching for the strike, earn it. All I could get into 500 chars. Sry.
I'm undecided about this style. Tons of variety, but with variety you need basics. It seems to be a hard/soft style, so depending on your preference it could be offputting. I know I'll get the comment, so ... No, I'm not one of his students. However, we could sit here and get in a pissing match for weeks, if you think your style is better, there is only one way to find out. Spar. Also remember to empty your cup, you don't know everything.
@Mider999 Bjj works better on the street than any other stand alone style. And yes I get into fights alot.... thought I always use my jits for positioning and never take it to the ground other than a few times cause the dudes were bigger than me
@SandToof Thats a load of CRAP even BJJ masters admit that what your saying is crap. Go ask the Machados what they are versed in they will tell you BJJ and then they will say OH AND we also do muay thai, or kick boxing, or jiu jitsu (japanese) or Krav maga. You BJJ guys are hilariosu you say stuff even your masters dont have the gaul to say. Carlson Gracie was friends with Sam Kwok a wing chun master one of the supposidly useless systems i hear from MMA guys
@SandToof Oh and by the way mate wake up before you find yourself in a situation were your attacked by more hten one person and is there arts that teach you to deal iwth more hten one person? UH YEAH there are. Do tehy work? Well sometimes yes sometimes no it depends on the person and the attackers and what the person is willing to do to the attacker. If you get taken to the ground in every fight then you obviously dont know how to fight
@SandToof Ok you dont take it to teh ground? Then whta BJJ are you doing? Thats the jiu jitsu part of BJJ which is japanese isnt it? There are no original arts BJJ has things from other arts. Aikido probably came out of aikijujitsu or aikijitsu. Boxing came from maybe panantukan. MMA came from things like Sambo or Pankration
@Mider999 It isnt crap and you almost sounded like you know a thing or two. but to put it simple. I have been in and out of martial arts my whole life, but before jits it was kick boxing cause there is nothing that prepares you for the street better than the street itself and in that kickboxing class we did full contact fights not sparing, But since getting punched in the face 4 times a week started to take its toll on me I switched, So yes I have back ground it a few other things,
@SandToof Full contact sparring is not always great. You can cause some serious damage whats the point of putting half your class in the hospital i say that they should have the type of sparring like in Krav maga were they have body protection but people just dont think of this stuff. They wanna make people into fight machines when not every situation requires a fighting machine most of these fighting machines probably will end up in prison
What a useless system? But he's got this chick sold for some reason? She made it past AZ's border check and found her dream guy who for some reason is slathered in self tanner? I have no idea what in the hell is going on here. After watching this slappy happy silliness in this clip and what looked like his purple belt level in Kenpo; I now know why he loves knives so much---because he'd need them since he can't fight empty handed.....
one problem here: Pak Sao do not looks like anything in here... I hate been the one delivering the ''bad'' news, but I couldn't not hold myself from doing so here.
The Pak Sao you are doing is so ineffective against even an orange-belt of Wing Chun because it is on the wrist.
Proper Pak Sao is almost on the elbow. why? because otherwise a swift swing turns the punch into an elbow and then you're done. (respecting all concepts, using opponent's own force, body tilt, centerline.. and so forth)
@lympheneas I hate to deliver the bad news to you but you sound like the Orange belt you mention. Try to be more open minded and stop expecting everybody to do things only one way. This is more of a real world JKD approach here. Notice how they are not both squared off in horse stances? Not to mention the size difference and distance between the two. It all makes a difference.
@dutch04 ?? so you think that Wing Chun's basic stance is not Yee Gee but a ''horce stance''? well I'm surprised how I managed to actually spend the time answering!
@lympheneas Thanx for updating me on my terminology. If you know Siu Nim Tao you know the stance I mean and yes it is different than a traditional horse stance. Again though don't get too hung up on stuff like that or you will always be way behind those who take a broader view of martial arts. Look for similarities and for what works rather than what tradition imposes on you.
@dutch04 And I suppose by ''Siu Nim Tao'' you mean ''Sil Lum Tao'', correct? anyway I'm just messing with you, I know what you mean about ''broader view'' and I perfectly agree. Then again let us not forget ''properly performed techniques'', which -at least in martial arts- is -if not the only- one of the central aims.
@lympheneas True but one must reach a level of profieciency and then look beyond that. Any martial arts style is just a human interpretation of what is proper action and response,it should not be seen as Gospel truth. That is my opinion anyway.
@SenseiWayne actually it's pretty accurate, but what i think he meant to say against another trained martial artist .in a street fight would work fine most street fighters swing wildly or try to box and are very tight but wing training will collapse that arm and can turn it into a few other methods for regaining the centerline to attack or divert oncoming force. still a great drill...and a well made video
@lympheneas Remember though, the pak sau as he is doing it relates to JKD, so it will look a little different. As long as it works, it's good to practice it in many ways. In a real fight you won't have time to think if your technique is technically correct. As long as you get that fist from hitting you, you might just survive. But, I do understand that if you're a wing chun practitioner, you would have a problem with a bad 'looking' technique.
@Trinivalist 1) that's why you practice the correct way, because in a real fight you don't have the time to think ''oh, on the forearm, not the wrist'' so your technique must be flawless.
2) ''as long as you get that fist from hitting you'', you *won't* get that right, that's exactly why there a correct and a wrong way to do things.
3) as a wing chun practitioner, the last thing that worries me is how techniques ''look''. efficiency is the issue here.
@Trinivalist Your answer is delightful! Not because you agree with me, but because you are honest (since pride has not taken over you) like most people nowadays! Take care and god bless us all.
I agree with what you say, however, this is a drill so in this context I don't see a problem. They are drilling speed of hand movements and for me this works as a drill. With a forward step in this would become a valid pak punch defence, as you say with the pak directed at the elbow.
agree with you. this kind of pac sao is not suitable for all kind of punches because it may turn to the elbow punch because of the momentum also if the oopponent is moving to you and with that extra force it may be dangerous for you.
this is shit it is terrible not even in punching range when they do the paksoau drill wahat use is there chain punches if you dont have the ability to keep them on the enemy. if i even miss the first punch i at least have the footwork, power, and speed make sure the rest dont. and another tip why we weight the back leg. opens up the ability to apply 3 limb attacks with no telegraph. and tucking your chin in doesnt help when i can grab your head and lifting punch(uppercut) till ur in pieces.
The tip around 1:45 is excellent for application of wing chun pak sao drills. Once actual fighting starts the speed and adrenaline make strict wing chun impossible for most practitioners. Early in the fight though it's great for teeing off on someone or overwhelming them with a flurry of sharp hits.
I read people saying 'block this'... and 'block that'.
Wing Chun most often uses 'deflections' of force! Which in the true sense of the word... is not a block. The more power from an opponent, the more to deflect.
Hey piker2007. You bring your MMA ass into a streetfight and actually fight someone. Why disrespect this guy? While you have me in an armbar, my friends will be doing the hillbilly stomp dance on your face! That is the reality of the street. Sensitivity drills are great for developing attributes conducive to streetfighting. This is a "training method." This is not how they approach a fight. Compare it to football and running tires. Do you see tires on the field during the super bowl?
the last words were pure poetry! you take all your mechanisms to your martial arts, be it from playing chess, kicking a bag or reading. I think Bruce Lee understood this way of expression perfectly, so, after feeling the Wing Chun experience ( I don´t think he learned Biu Jee ), he hungered for more
They gave me a thumbs down because they don't understand JKD. It's okay though. Bruce said that one out of every hundred people can grasp the JKD process. Can't expect eveyone to agree. I just don't like when people put down training methods they don't understand. This stuff is self perfection and it is blended with healthy doses of sparring and application. It's only a piece of the pie.
what about blocking take downs, the way she is doing "Pac Punch" her punch dosn't looke like it would have enough leverage do enough damage. Would it be better to " pac, chop or gouge to the eye"?
I don't want to disrespect or something, but your Wing Chun is not really what it should be. ou don't even have the concept of fixed elbow and centerline. So with this your Pak sau is less effective, this also applies for your punch
But then again good job in teaching some handy moves to people for self-defence.
@DonIsj he doesn't do traditional wing chun. I wouldn't want to do traditional wing chun. The stance is awkward, and the blocks don't work well with powerful punches.
@carbonlaminate Well The stance maybe is akward, but the stance helps you increasing the strength of your blows AND blocks. Without the stance Wing Chun is less effective. You should search a few video's about the force generation of Wing Chun, in this you can see how powerfull your stance can make you. And a block is only effective if you use it right.
@FMAStudent Yeah, I was wondering the same. You see that look she gave at the end. I'd say "yeah". Don't get me wrong, there could be a platonic relationship, and I respect that. On the other, he's bad ass. She probably feel secure and protected. He doesn't seem like a dork. Why wouldn't she want to fuck him?
Haha that's funny, untill I fake a jab, smash your leg with a chop kick... Oh what's that?!! Liver punch? double leg? I got bas rutten DVD's son!! Bring the ruckus, cause bas rutten shit is nothing to fuck with!!!
@piker2007 some one with a true discipline would be able to watch this and know that what is being taught is a basic drill for beginners and that this guy or women would be able to take to you and break your double leg while crushing your liver. i am a jun fan practitioner and would be happy to give you a lesson on what they are talking about so you an learn a little respect for a true martial artist that has a disipline not a "dvd" fighter.
More effective even is using elbows to shock the system. An elbow-strike anywhere on the body is devastating and will open up striking with the hand...
If it is good, then grasp it. If its not good, just keep quiet and search for the next better clip. You guys are so quick to judge people. Shut the fuck up...you think you are better?
Obviously dirtydodger really has no clue what he is seeing. As Guru Dan says...you give a child a diamond and they think it's rock and have no understanding of it's value
Hypothetical question - If a teacher learned silat from an Antek, would you have an issue with learning silat through him or her even if you knew he was credible, highly skilled, and of high character even though he or she is not recognized as such. I love the art, i like our gym and my teacher, should i worry about lineage, certifications, etc?
No, you shouldn't. Unless you're looking for meaningless bragging rights ("So-and-so is my teacher!" "I'm a black belt!") don't concern yourself with lineage and certifications. It IS helpful to know the lineage of an art to understand its history and path-of-travel and to know who your grandteachers are. Beyond that, don't worry about it. Just learn, think, and practice. Don't forget the "think" part...a lot of people do, and end up swallowing whatever is fed to them.
dan inosanto is a living legend within the martial arts community. that being said, i also do not believe danny holds the monopoly on insight or innovation within this community. I believe danny is expressing 1980's level technology in his teachings.Danny inosanto has become irrelevent when discussing todays perspective innovation and function. Danny has built his entire career Selling us his relationship with Bruce Lee and his Ah shucks humble inflections. Now everyone is selling danny.
@kifighting Mr. Simonet...by your own statement of Guro Dan then all the things you are showing w/ respect to "traditional" systems is also irrelevant when discussing today's perspective, innovation and function. Whether it comes from the 1800's, the 80's or today...whatever works...works!
@kifighting What are you talking about? Inosanto teaches what works today you go up to him with your new stuff and try to kick his ass he'd kick your ass so fast you probably wouldnt even know you started or ended. He is doing things these days like doing Shooto and Brazilian JIujitsu you obviously dont know what the hell your talking about. All the arts he's done still work today
@kifighting Your full of it as far as im concerned. Inosanto teaches what is relevent today or have you never heard that he started training in Shooto that is japanese mixed martial arts or that he trained in BJJ and earned a black belt in 3 years? He is also versed in Savate, Muay Thai, Judo, Jiujitsu, American Kenpo and as everyone knows Silat, JKD, Wing Chun, and Filipino Martial arts. Inosanto is a legend he doesnt have to sell his relationship with bruce lee His students are world renowned
@Mider999 Ron Balicki, Paul Vunak, Kent T Nelson, Erik Paulson, Denzel washington. You all talk about this and that oh look im in MMA i know kickboxing WHO DO YOU THINK WAS ONE OF THE PERSONS WHO BROUGHT KICKBOXING OT THE USA? BRUCE LEE. Oh im great in Muay Thai INOSANTO TRAINES IN MUAH THAI PROBABLY UNDER THE BEST TEACHERS YOU CAN THINK OF. Oh this stuff doesnt work today EVER HEARD OF THE DOG BROTHERS? THEY'D PROVE YOU WRONG
@kifighting I don't think that's accurate. I think that Inosanto immediately began emphasizing the exploration of BJJ, SE Asian arts, French systems, whatever. He could have stopped at Jun Fan/JKD, but he continued to research fighting.
Otherwise, the man practices intensely into his 70s. He's an inspiration and a true teacher, and if he is humble, this isn't affected; I would hope it'd be par for the course for a human being who has lived this long and seen so much.
You're preaching to the choir on this one. In 92,93,and 94 I had the chance to train with Paul DeThouars and I agree the Paul is far superior than VDT. I have no associations with Victor and his idiots. Silat is a very small portions of what I do. Please don't confuse me with them.
@kifighting Is that who you learned martial arts from like Silat and Filipino martial arts and wing chun from Dan Inosanto? Your very privleged i think anyone who talks bad about Dan is usually an ignorent idiot the older you are doesnt mean your not a good fighter. They talk about oh BJJ is the best blah blah blah and then they say Oh Inosanto is to old but Helio Gracie was way older then Dan Inosanto And even Carlson Gracie was into other arts
The problem with drills like this is that people think its all about repeating the same techniques the same number of types. Many Wing Chun schools do this but its wrong!
A compliant drill like this will not really teach you anything, the techniques need to be practised Alive against resistence with real movement and timing. Not just static repetition.
The hands simply slapping down/away anything from the annoying pointing finger to an attempted grab, slap, or punch is sound. The follow-up of vertical fist strikes in that circular, almost machinelike motion, makes good sense to me. I liked the drills, and the overhead camera shots gave a different perspective. Nicely done.
Well out of respect I would like to know what lineage your wing chun is from.Ialso do Wing chun myself I do shaolin hung fa yi wing chun and northern 7 star preying mantis and done boxing grappling, wresting, groundfighting.I've study and teach for over 30yrs in kung fu.I just wanted to know your wing chun lineage is my grandm
This is rubbish, post a video of this technique vs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, both black belts...

Carlson Gracie was friends with Sam Kwok a wing chun master one of the supposidly useless systems i hear from MMA guys
Mider999 1 year ago
@SandToof Oh and by the way mate wake up before you find yourself in a situation were your attacked by more hten one person and is there arts that teach you to deal iwth more hten one person? UH YEAH there are. Do tehy work? Well sometimes yes sometimes no it depends on the person and the attackers and what the person is willing to do to the attacker. If you get taken to the ground in every fight then you obviously dont know how to fight
Mider999 1 year ago
@SandToof Ok you dont take it to teh ground? Then whta BJJ are you doing? Thats the jiu jitsu part of BJJ which is japanese isnt it? There are no original arts BJJ has things from other arts. Aikido probably came out of aikijujitsu or aikijitsu. Boxing came from maybe panantukan. MMA came from things like Sambo or Pankration
Mider999 1 year ago
@Mider999 It isnt crap and you almost sounded like you know a thing or two. but to put it simple. I have been in and out of martial arts my whole life, but before jits it was kick boxing cause there is nothing that prepares you for the street better than the street itself and in that kickboxing class we did full contact fights not sparing, But since getting punched in the face 4 times a week started to take its toll on me I switched, So yes I have back ground it a few other things,
SandToof 1 year ago
@SandToof Full contact sparring is not always great. You can cause some serious damage whats the point of putting half your class in the hospital i say that they should have the type of sparring like in Krav maga were they have body protection but people just dont think of this stuff. They wanna make people into fight machines when not every situation requires a fighting machine most of these fighting machines probably will end up in prison

one problem here: Pak Sao do not looks like anything in here...
(respecting all concepts, using opponent's own force, body tilt, centerline.. and so forth)

kaindrg 1 year ago
@lympheneas I hate to deliver the bad news to you but you sound like the Orange belt you mention. Try to be more open minded and stop expecting everybody to do things only one way. This is more of a real world JKD approach here. Notice how they are not both squared off in horse stances? Not to mention the size difference and distance between the two. It all makes a difference.
dutch04 1 year ago
@dutch04 ?? so you think that Wing Chun's basic stance is not Yee Gee but a ''horce stance''? well I'm surprised how I managed to actually spend the time answering!
lympheneas 1 year ago
@lympheneas Thanx for updating me on my terminology. If you know Siu Nim Tao you know the stance I mean and yes it is different than a traditional horse stance. Again though don't get too hung up on stuff like that or you will always be way behind those who take a broader view of martial arts. Look for similarities and for what works rather than what tradition imposes on you.
dutch04 1 year ago
@dutch04 And I suppose by ''Siu Nim Tao'' you mean ''Sil Lum Tao'', correct? anyway I'm just messing with you, I know what you mean about ''broader view'' and I perfectly agree. Then again let us not forget ''properly performed techniques'', which -at least in martial arts- is -if not the only- one of the central aims.
lympheneas 1 year ago
@lympheneas True but one must reach a level of profieciency and then look beyond that. Any martial arts style is just a human interpretation of what is proper action and response,it should not be seen as Gospel truth. That is my opinion anyway.
dutch04 1 year ago
@lympheneas Pak sao is on the forearm. Just so you know.

SenseiWayne 1 year ago 2
@SenseiWayne actually it's pretty accurate, but what i think he meant to say against another trained martial artist .in a street fight would work fine most street fighters swing wildly or try to box and are very tight but wing training will collapse that arm and can turn it into a few other methods for regaining the centerline to attack or divert oncoming force. still a great drill...and a well made video

lympheneas 1 year ago
@lympheneas Remember though, the pak sau as he is doing it relates to JKD, so it will look a little different. As long as it works, it's good to practice it in many ways. In a real fight you won't have time to think if your technique is technically correct. As long as you get that fist from hitting you, you might just survive. But, I do understand that if you're a wing chun practitioner, you would have a problem with a bad 'looking' technique.
Trinivalist 1 year ago
@Trinivalist 1) that's why you practice the correct way, because in a real fight you don't have the time to think ''oh, on the forearm, not the wrist'' so your technique must be flawless.
2) ''as long as you get that fist from hitting you'', you *won't* get that right, that's exactly why there a correct and a wrong way to do things.
3) as a wing chun practitioner, the last thing that worries me is how techniques ''look''. efficiency is the issue here.
4) do it the WAY YOU WANT, not my problem!
lympheneas 1 year ago
@lympheneas I agree... I may have been quick in saying what I said.

I agree with what you say, however, this is a drill so in this context I don't see a problem. They are drilling speed of hand movements and for me this works as a drill. With a forward step in this would become a valid pak punch defence, as you say with the pak directed at the elbow.
deputyVH 1 year ago
agree with you. this kind of pac sao is not suitable for all kind of punches because it may turn to the elbow punch because of the momentum also if the oopponent is moving to you and with that extra force it may be dangerous for you.

this is shit it is terrible not even in punching range when they do the paksoau drill wahat use is there chain punches if you dont have the ability to keep them on the enemy. if i even miss the first punch i at least have the footwork, power, and speed make sure the rest dont. and another tip why we weight the back leg. opens up the ability to apply 3 limb attacks with no telegraph. and tucking your chin in doesnt help when i can grab your head and lifting punch(uppercut) till ur in pieces.

SenseiWayne 1 year ago
The tip around 1:45 is excellent for application of wing chun pak sao drills. Once actual fighting starts the speed and adrenaline make strict wing chun impossible for most practitioners. Early in the fight though it's great for teeing off on someone or overwhelming them with a flurry of sharp hits.
ScottishFoxx 1 year ago
why are they leaning in surely they are off ballance this is not wing chun teaching!
bakstaber111 1 year ago 4
I read people saying 'block this'... and 'block that'.
Wing Chun most often uses 'deflections' of force! Which in the true sense of the word... is not a block. The more power from an opponent, the more to deflect.
MrSoulSong 1 year ago
Hey piker2007. You bring your MMA ass into a streetfight and actually fight someone. Why disrespect this guy? While you have me in an armbar, my friends will be doing the hillbilly stomp dance on your face! That is the reality of the street. Sensitivity drills are great for developing attributes conducive to streetfighting. This is a "training method." This is not how they approach a fight. Compare it to football and running tires. Do you see tires on the field during the super bowl?
MrMysticknight 2 years ago
the last words were pure poetry! you take all your mechanisms to your martial arts, be it from playing chess, kicking a bag or reading. I think Bruce Lee understood this way of expression perfectly, so, after feeling the Wing Chun experience ( I don´t think he learned Biu Jee ), he hungered for more

KrackDealinNinja 1 year ago
They gave me a thumbs down because they don't understand JKD. It's okay though. Bruce said that one out of every hundred people can grasp the JKD process. Can't expect eveyone to agree. I just don't like when people put down training methods they don't understand. This stuff is self perfection and it is blended with healthy doses of sparring and application. It's only a piece of the pie.

iwanttofight69 2 years ago
I don't want to disrespect or something, but your Wing Chun is not really what it should be. ou don't even have the concept of fixed elbow and centerline. So with this your Pak sau is less effective, this also applies for your punch
But then again good job in teaching some handy moves to people for self-defence.
DonIsj 2 years ago 2
@DonIsj he doesn't do traditional wing chun. I wouldn't want to do traditional wing chun. The stance is awkward, and the blocks don't work well with powerful punches.
carbonlaminate 2 years ago
@carbonlaminate Well The stance maybe is akward, but the stance helps you increasing the strength of your blows AND blocks. Without the stance Wing Chun is less effective. You should search a few video's about the force generation of Wing Chun, in this you can see how powerfull your stance can make you. And a block is only effective if you use it right.
DonIsj 2 years ago
why would you pak punch someone pointing at you? that's against the law and will get you arrested.

4848beans 2 years ago

Now everyone is selling danny.
kifighting 2 years ago
Dan Inosanto is irrelevent? You're kidding right? Sifu Dan has forgoten more than you'll ever know
kaliprophet 2 years ago 20
@kifighting Mr. Simonet...by your own statement of Guro Dan then all the things you are showing w/ respect to "traditional" systems is also irrelevant when discussing today's perspective, innovation and function. Whether it comes from the 1800's, the 80's or today...whatever works...works!
unclebraddah 1 year ago
@kifighting What are you talking about? Inosanto teaches what works today you go up to him with your new stuff and try to kick his ass he'd kick your ass so fast you probably wouldnt even know you started or ended. He is doing things these days like doing Shooto and Brazilian JIujitsu you obviously dont know what the hell your talking about. All the arts he's done still work today
Mider999 1 year ago
@kifighting Your full of it as far as im concerned. Inosanto teaches what is relevent today or have you never heard that he started training in Shooto that is japanese mixed martial arts or that he trained in BJJ and earned a black belt in 3 years? He is also versed in Savate, Muay Thai, Judo, Jiujitsu, American Kenpo and as everyone knows Silat, JKD, Wing Chun, and Filipino Martial arts. Inosanto is a legend he doesnt have to sell his relationship with bruce lee His students are world renowned
Mider999 1 year ago
Mider999 1 year ago
@kifighting I don't think that's accurate. I think that Inosanto immediately began emphasizing the exploration of BJJ, SE Asian arts, French systems, whatever. He could have stopped at Jun Fan/JKD, but he continued to research fighting.
Otherwise, the man practices intensely into his 70s. He's an inspiration and a true teacher, and if he is humble, this isn't affected; I would hope it'd be par for the course for a human being who has lived this long and seen so much.
Peace

The problem with drills like this is that people think its all about repeating the same techniques the same number of types. Many Wing Chun schools do this but its wrong!
A compliant drill like this will not really teach you anything, the techniques need to be practised Alive against resistence with real movement and timing. Not just static repetition.
tillerbear 2 years ago
I have to agree....best way to learn a skill set is to use it in the real world.
Though also practice does help but its different kind of experience.
I am not expert but this is how my father always taught me.
Twisted86 2 years ago
The hands simply slapping down/away anything from the annoying pointing finger to an attempted grab, slap, or punch is sound. The follow-up of vertical fist strikes in that circular, almost machinelike motion, makes good sense to me. I liked the drills, and the overhead camera shots gave a different perspective. Nicely done.
