  • u can get same thing recording ur stuff on sound card or on mixer.. the mic is the things that's crucial and of course room

  • my video is sad compare to this :(. but i got 24gig pc >< . Can i come to ur studio ill buy the beer. maby u could show me a thing or two on what to do or have.

  • Thanks for the vid. Good info man. Quick question I have ableton program and would like to record audio and midi at the same time using Roland fantom. Do you know what's need. Thanks

  • does anyone now whats better, mixers or sound cards?

  • You don't require much to start making music; this is what I own and end up makin quality material. You can even get gear from ebay and save around 35%:

    computer with 4GB ram, HP

    sound card, M-Audio Delta 1010LT

    MIDI controller, M-Audio Oxygen25

    subsidiary MIDI controller, Akai MPD18

condenser microphone, AKG C214 with pop filter

preamp, M-Audio DMP3 (most audio interfaces have that built in; also has phantom power)

    DAW, I have Cubase 5

    studio monitors, Alesis M1 520

    VST instruments.

  • Now do you produce the music first and then compose! Like you create the instrumental first, and then the words or do you do it at the same time? whats the easiest?

  • come through and check out how i built my home recording studio. it wasn't rocket science and it's def official

  • Slim Thug rag on the wall. R.I.P.

  • he said its "unlimitless" which means there are limits

  • cool stuff

  • How much do u charge?

  • what do i need if I want to make music but I am deaf?

  • @DJKRON1 turn on the radio poof instant music no work required

  • @DJKRON1 either read your favorite tracks in brail by some traintracks so you can feel that bass pumping out XD , on a serious not my cousins deaf and he just has to feel the vibration of music, but if your being serious here just read the names of the instruments and get someone to tell you what noises are high pitched and witch ones are low and frequency and eq's

  • Do you like garageband?

  • Now all this is in one mic called the Yeti!

  • i Have a Mac Pro with 12 cores and 32 Gb of Ram 8 Tb Hard drive :)

  • @KalenoStar over kill much?

  • @KalenoStar dont forget the firewire 800 port that links straight into the core of the space time continuum ahaha

  • do i need the mixer if i record punk rock?

  • @alpunkbrewster A mixer would give you the ability to manage the sound level of your instruments individually, if your recording live, which will give you music better sound. Now I know that most music production software comes with a "So called" mixer built in, but it really doesn't beat a real mixer. (Not in a live recording situation). Now, if your just using program sounds from your production software, the built in mixer is fine. (Personal opinion from experiance. Do whats right for you)

  • @FantasticIsMyLife thanks man. But you know what fuck the mixer id rather buy new equipment for my band like a mic than this.. thanks! \/,,

  • how much are the sound cards?!

  • i feel so lost right now... Whats firewire?

  • Hey man could you check out 'new song' on my you tube channel (ttocsqwetrty)

  • what is firewire

  • My phone has 1gb of ram

  • Comment removed

  • @davidthegreat99 whats a firewire cord? when i make music i dunno wat im doing wrong but when i have alot of sounds and then add sounds from cytrus it starts sounding funny.why is that cud you message me back bro?

  • unlimitless hahaha double negative

  • Is he really saying unlimitless???

  • Holy crap, someone who actually knows what they are talking about! Haha! Thank you so much man, this was exactly what I was looking for!

  • Nice job man! Runnin pro tools. works excellently for me. I got some video of my studio on my channel if anyone is interested.

  • We are the top of the line niggas hear 24/7 my nigga!!!!!. "JBL, TASCAM, CASIO, YAMAHA, PEARL, IBANEZ, FENDER, GIBSON, SONY, ROLAND, and more top of the line shit hear my nigga 24/7!!!!!.

  • UNLIMITLESS???????

  • what does unlimitless mean?

  • The very first thing is to get fcking money! :D

  • What about making a studio for rock music with guitars, and drums? What equipment would i need

  • Can you give us an estimate of how much all of this would cost?

  • im a rapper

  • i have a mac, which program do you recomend me?

  • @rabbsneitor did you really watched the video above?

  • Very informative thanks for doing the video, don't listen to the haters they are losers that don't understand helping other people. Thanks

  • Need Cd's To Pass Out? Google Us empirelabz cds Thanks!

  • ...for people who want to build a home studio for their homes

  • His monitors arent placed right. They are supposed to be at ear level three feet apart facing you at a 45 degree angle for proper mix downs. PEOPLE SEEK PROS WHO ARE ACUATALLY DOING IT FOR A LIVING AND NOT SOME JOE SCHMOE BEDROOM WANNA BE PRODUCER.

  • @giftedindividuals

You're doing this for a living?

The fuck you doing on YouTube? Shouldn't you be editing some Justin Bieber songs?

  • @musicfloable, It all depends on which DAW you're running. If You're using a large DAW such as ProTools or Cubase than 4GB-8GB is a must. 1GB is fine for those running Cool Edit, REAPER, and the likes.

  • whats the purpose of the soundcard?

  • Great video mane. Good job bro

  • mo what 7:21

  • unlimitless...is that even a word?? lol

  • How about for Garage Band?

  • A home studio in their home DUH

  • 1gb of RAM?? lol guy told me at bestbuy told me 4gb to 8gb of ram.

  • @musicflowable He made this in 2008. Technology...

  • @musicflowable you can still do work with 1gb of RAM, not ery body makes bank to spend on a 4-8gb computer!

  • @musicflowable Look at the date, this looks to be recorded 2008... :P

  • @SoreBeard NO SHIT!

  • @musicflowable This was made in 2008! :O)

  • @musicflowable yea no shit so they can make money haha does everybody at bestbuy have a studio like this man?no i dont think so soooo SHHHHHHH

  • @musicflowable they just say that to sell u a more expensive item

  • @musicflowable 4 to 8 is probably a good idea, especially as cheap as RAM is now-a-days. Do yourself a favor though and don't ever talk to a Best Buy employee for a recommendation.

  • @musicflowable this just depends on where u r at production-wise. if you r just starting off above 2 gigs of ram will work for a while, but after u start learning all the different production techniques and adding more detail to your songs u will start having more and more tracks that take up cpu.

  • hey bro can I use my laptop?

  • hey check it out.

a quick picture slide of my recording room built in stages.

did it all by my self. took me a few days and a bit of cash too... but it's worth it.

  • awesoooooooooooooooome, really great...

  • Can anyone tell me what you would call that little keyboard in front of him?(Between his monitor and computer keyboard)

  • @Muso992 that would be the Novation 25 SL MkII

  • can someone tell me,can i use logic pro 9 on pc? peace.

  • @IndexMusicProduction

No, Logic is owned by Apple. It is purely Mac software. But Cubase can be used on Macs as well as pc. Peace my brother

  • @jasonsaxo ayt cool,thanks bro

  • vacano parcero te felicito

  • Before moving on, how much will i need to get all of the above, so i dont watch these videos 2 times?

  • Can i use a laptop aswell? or for now?

  • why do yu have a mixer when you have logic pro? isnt the mixer old style

  • Great informative video!

  • A computer with software doesn't mean you have a home studio. You have...a home.

  • It's Unlimitless ... XD awesome

  • well put

  • I diff need to make a home studio tryna step my rap game up with my goons too

  • What is the diffrence betwen USB Audio Interface and Fireware Audio Interface?????

  • @TheLiquidBeats different port's but basically do both the same thing.. fire wire ports are on all mac's ( should be) and pc us usb ports.. but its very easy to install a fire card on a pc comp.. i recently done it

  • So I could just do my setup like this:

E609 to Mixer to Audio-Interphase to Computer/DAW. and be able to just sufficent recordings.

  • @ThePresitge350 From what I've heard the mixer is not really necessary. I'm just trying to get the bare essentials, lol.

  • Yeah what he said is true. DAW's are all preference. I'm an electronic artist so I use FL studio. You can use Reason or Logic for this too but really its all preference.

  • Good advice. Check out my music i made it with my home studio.

  • very good computer for recording on,my computer has a great sound card, built in fire wire, its made for studio recording its called a HP pavilion a111 8x

its on Windows XP,it doesnt cost alot too

  • Comment removed

  • 1 gigabyte ram reccomentation depends on the operating system. Windows XP, 32 bit will perform well with 512Megabytes, anything after that allows you to run more at once and use more memory intensive programs, Audio creation tends to be somewhat of a memory hog. if you are running windows vista or windows 7 you should have at least 2gigs for the operating system by itself. so that means you are going to have to buy more than that to get performance. 32-bit systems limit 4 gb ram.

  • hey man nice vids. do you have any gear that you don't want/need because im making a studio

  • is the sound card the same as an interface?

  • @mrt8rock Yes.

  • outline of video is written on menu. LOL

  • Can you use a laptop instead of a pc?

  • Nice video but if you're making a home studio don't get the KRK monitors.

Go with the Yamaha HS series. They're much more honest and will help your mixing

  • about how much is this gon cost whats the cheapest i will spend for a good quality to start i am interested in recording my voice

  • By the way instead you could buy a stereo receiver hook it up to your computer and use some surround speakers and some subwoofers . .

  • Thank You very much! :)

  • i use my room as a studio and looking for some stuff to add, just a little tip if you have tile walls in your bathroom it is very good acoustics to record vocals

  • What about mic preamp, does your sound card has one?

  • the only thing im missing is a sound card i wanted summet like urs but everytime i search for 1 it shows a board for inside computers so thanks for this vid,the only other problem iv got is plug ins (vst) have u got a link to get some for good ones for free

  • Unlimited/ limitlis two diffrent words. But nice vid.

  • good stuff mah man

  • ILOVE YOUR VIDEOS! They are the most helpful. The second you said: "one, get a computer" I knew this is the right video for me because I starting at the very beginning is best for us beginners.

  • Can you buy soundcards for laptops too?

  • Thanks man

  • hey man, this helped a lot! thanks for takin the time to make these

  • "Unlimitless" is a double-negative. Take that out of your vocabulary, please.

  • @larry52333 lol, when he said that, i went like :s what?

  • Will a laptop work? or do I need a desktop computer?

  • @NightFire201

    ive got the same question

    so what do you think?

  • @NightFire201 Yes, a lap top will work as long as it meets a few requirements. CPU speed should range from 2.0Ghz and up for optimal performance. Again, RAM should be at least 1GB, 2GB or more for best results as well as of the fast DDR or DDR2-RAM type. As far as storage space at least 120 GB hard drive with a speed of 7200 or more. I would recommend a CD/DVD reader/writer, as well as an external hard drive to store your work to keep your laptop running smoother.

  • unlimitless? Did he make that word up? Its either unlimited or limitless, but I have never heard them put together in that way. I had to giggle when i heard that.

  • @FantasticIsMyLife It wasnt an accident either, he said it twice.

  • This guys so called "Vocal Booth" is terrible, honestly you might as well not have posted it on the wall anyhow those arent built to absorb sound waves at all so...."GET THAT OUT OF YOUR HEAD" hopefully he's upgraded cuase he's not that bad of a singer.

  • "its a popaler sound card"- davethegreat99

  • Thanks bro, your video is amazing! Im already working in my home recording studio. I just need my monitors and a MIDI controller. Im working on Mac too with Logic. I personally thing is the best DAW.

  • Clear, concise n to the point, thanks!

  • I liked it ... Why does everyone want to give this guy grief? At least, he's out there doing something ... Good luck. Thanks, for your insights.

  • "Check Out" PINK ROSE - THA Rii ZIN

  • Hi Are your monitors too low, could the be mor level with you ears? How about absorbtion and diffusion in your room, it comes across like slightly echoey on the vid but it could be just me. Like that you use Cubase, I do too! Can anyone give me some advice on mulitple in and outs? The M-Audio interface I use is just 2 in 6 out. I want to be aboe to route out to an anologue mixer from Cubase but I'm new and have no clue at the moment! PM Me

  • 1GB cant get you nowhere i got a 40GB ps3 and its already full-_-

  • He's talking 1GB of Memory (RAM). Your talkin 40GB of Hard Disk Space. Two different things.

  • I dont get it. whats the point of having headphones? Are there any you guys recommend?

  • @JesusMIXtapes

When your recording vocals, its the best tool you can have. You hear exactly whats being recoded, and helps you stay in key with the music. I always recorded without them, and after i tried them out, i was amazed at how much easier it was.

  • @JesusMIXtapes so when your recording vocals you don't get any feedback into the microphone and distort the sound quality. That is why you need good headphones.

  • computer or laptop

  • did anyone else notice he keeps sayin "its UNLIMITLESS"?

  • @burberry861 RIGHTTT

  • home studio in there homes haha

  • what do i need to connect my mpc and my two keyboards to logic studio 9 on imac g6? help please

  • ok personally what do u think is the best beat making software

  • Can you use your build in sound card until you get enough money for a professonal sound card?

  • @flaxj Good question but its answer is no.I tried hard singing with my dynamic mic but it still records with feedback (In reality, dynamic mic cancels feedback and hence it is used in live shows). And I tried buying and using my new sound card.It worked properly. The reason is b'cuz recording in built in sound card is built only for communication where feedback is okay as said in video. In songs, the sound should be crystal clear. So I and he recommends you to buy a new sound card.

  • Unlimitless. What do you think that means?

  • and how much would all of this cost?

    because i don't have a big budget.

  • if i was doin alot more vocals the beats but stol wanted beats whats a good program to use i have a pc

  • @TripleTone505 i ment stil

  • does a laptop count as a computer?

  • @bellamcwatch good laptops are more expensive but yes! sure

  • @bellamcwatch Sure you just need a USB Interface to run a mic that uses phantom power ;)

  • When talking about sound cards too if you are going to be using virtual instruments at all I'd suggest making sure your audio card has ASIO drivers as well.

  • prtty nice video, but this stuff about the mixer .... don´t get a mixer, why not use the monitoring of your daw or the controlroom mixer to sort out what everybody wants to have on his/her phones/monitors

  • u call this extensive instructional guide?... man, u keep going around the bush,

  • black people are so hot =)

  • @davidthegreat99 Do you got some experience with the M-Audio Fast Track Pro?

  • to skip the intro go to :55

  • thx bro, cool tutorial, keep up the good work man

  • how do you hook up a yamaha psr e223 keyboard with a midi cable and which controller?

  • I don't understand why you need a mixer and a soundcard can someone explain?

  • @drgrules You don't need a mixer unless your recording live sounds such as an entire drum kit snare bass hi hat cymbal tom all indivually with different mics. soundcards are preamps for your microphone and for your monitors and they have drivers for lower latency and better sound qualitty

  • 1 or 2 gigs of ram? what is 2001? 4gbs is standard now.

  • You should make a note for pc users: Make sure your firewire card has a TI (Texas Instruments) chip! It will save you many many headaches down the road. Same is true with USB interfaces. Also, that Duet would sound WAY better if you didn't run a Behringer mixer into it...

  • You should make a note for pc users: Make sure your firewire card has a TI (Texas Instruments) chip! It will save you many many headaches down the road. Same is true with USB interfaces.

  • "It's unlimitless what you can do" love it

  • @leConquier

    Meaning its limited right? lol

  • i want you to came to my house

  • i like how hes not all about name brands and tells us to get what feels right w us and w/in our budget....preciate ur time bra!

  • i would like this.. but it's at 1337....

  • ...unlimitless means limited. just sayn

  • I rap but i dont have any knowledge on how to record or anything on my computer.. what do i need? i have a pc. i have reason. id like to produce later however right now im just focusing on recording over beats ive already heard.. (cover) HELP YOUTUBE GENIUSES...

  • @rgar1694 i have just started and not really that experianced but you will need a mic thats compatable USB ones work, but not the best quality your will need a usb interface if you want to use mics with XLR connection, you will also need music software to record over you can youtube free mixcraft 5 software sand it should have a video that will give you links to you free download that should get you started

  • u need some skullcandy or sony headphone
