  • I saw Brad live in Georgia in 2002, the man was all over the stage and the chicks were goin' nuts. He was tearin' that guitar up he was all over it. He is quite the phenomenon.

  • wow this douche took the balls out of this song

  • @trexx32 What his voice lacks I think he makes up with his geet'. I like this the best as far as covers of this song go, but I don't think anyone will outdo the live at Folsom Prison version.

  • That is freakin awesome!!! Only Brad can pull off a cover of Johnny Cash, & make it that great. "Camera person" did a good job videoin it too.

  • even though the sund sucks and you can here some fat chick this is a great video

  • Very very good........Brad is one of my Favourite guitar hero.........

P.S. Sorry for my english I'm italian :-)

  • i like the original by johnny cash better but this puts a nice spin on it for something different.

  • Brad Paisley is a legend of this time

  • hm awe bang

  • this is so old, looking back on how far Brad's popularity has taken him since this video. I'll wager a guess that this was taken in either 05' or 06'. Anybody that's been to one of his shows in the last 2 years knows how enormous the production has become. The stage is huge, with runways and lights and screens and all kinds of stuff. It's great

I love this video, i watch it over and over again cuz it's just so awesome. Thanks to the poster for keeping it up, it's one of my all-time favs. Cheers

  • yeah, the post date being october 2006 made that guess real hard i bet.

  • that doesn't necessarily mean it was taken on that date. the poster of the video might not have uploaded immediately after it was taken.

i saw paisley in '05, the stage setup was the same. that was my clue.

  • I LOVE THIS

  • Not too bad. There aren't too many people that could do a Johnny Cash song and not butcher it. But Brad did a pretty good job on this.

  • hmm... to be honest i dont think he is the right singer for this type of song i am a brad fan and a cash fan but not a fan of this...

  • i really wish brad would do a cover of this song and put it on a cd it rocks

  • Who is the older guy playing guitar along side? I have seen him in a few Brad Paisley videos and he is bloody amazing!

  • that's Gary Hooker, he's played with Brad for years.

  • I've searched the web and checked in every music store.. I have even had friends visiting USA who has looked over there, but nothing has been found.. I think it is about time he releases a concert DVD now!!

  • love this cover

  • This is just... GREAT!! too bad this isnt on a Live DVD!!

  • sigulst: Does Brad Paisley even have a live DVD? I mean, I've seen one called Mud on the Lens on Amazon, but I think it's out-of-print, which really sucks! I sure wish Paisley would have a live DVD out...and I'd love to hear his cover of "Folsom Prison Blues" on a CD!

  • OMFG brad is a guitar god and his band kicks ass

  • pittsburghpenguins67: That's actually impossible...considering the fact that Johnny Cash died back in 2003 or something like that.

Now Slash--that guy would wish he could play half as well as Brad Paisley if all those close-minded rock guitarists (not all of 'em, but a lot of 'em) didn't make such a big deal over him. Slash is so overrated.

  • Well, Johnny actually wasn't a super good guitar player, he was actually a rhythm guitar player, but its HOW he played and he was a hell of a song writer, thats what made Johnny Cash a legend

  • And Brad Paisley wishes he could be the only person in the world to be in the rock, country, and songwriters hall of fame. And also have the 3rd most number ones in billboard chart history.

  • How do you know he wishes he did? Did you fucking interview him? I didn't FUCKING THINK SO!

  • Alright before you have a heart attack, I wasnt knocking Brad Paisley i was responding to a comment someone made about johnny cash wishing he could play guitar like brad paisley. Im a big fan of Brad, and im sure any successful musician would die to have the career johnny cash had. Even Brad Paisley.

So keep swearing on youtube your making yourself look really intellegent

  • brad is absolutely a great great singer i love everything and im cool if i never hear this on a radio if this was just for fun you go brad you are a phenominal talent love your work

  • Brad is alright but he shouldn't do Cash songs in my opinion, like others, he just don't do them justice.

  • i dont like this but im not gonna put a death wish on him. hes doing his thing so it shouldnt bother us. if you dont like it nobody forces you to listen to it.

  • what the hell...i'm shocked...folsom prison is not a happy song, like the way he plays it....love brad but this song im afraid he destroyed

  • This is a great song...and this is a decent cover...but Brad Paisley hasn't gone through what Cash went though...and therefore will not be able to sing or play it with the same amount of soul that Cash did. So i don't hate the song, it's just nothing compared to the original...

  • Damn good! Record it on a cd right now!:)

  • after you

  • There's a great cover of Folsom here on YouTube by Jon Christopher Davis that's worth checkin' out! It was filmed at Gruene Hall, Texas' oldest dancehall.

  • I love this cover! I did a cover of this song too, if anyone wants to watch just click my username of paste this above watch?v=UrOcdzUPCi4

  • Terrible!!! Johnny Cash is the ONLY one that can sing this song!

  • Killed it.

  • this is pretty good but i like it better with johnny cash

  • i think that was an excellent cover

  • Imitation is the sincerest form of compliment. I think that's how the saying goes. Brad is honoring a great songwriter and country music legend by covering this song. I saw him do it live in Spokane, WA., last year...it was frigging AWESOME!

  • If anyone can figure out how to play this version on the guitar with solos n stuff, get a hold of me...

  • if you had half the talent on guitar that Johnny Cash had you would be able to figure it out on your own

  • wow Johnny Cash never served any time at folsom prison its a song calm down even if he butcherd this song he sang it to show hid respect to Cash

  • butchered it???? did you hear it???

  • yeah man it was good. not as good as johnny's, but c'mon.. its hard to replicate a legend..

  • john is a good songwriter but not that great of a musician

  • I totally it was alright the best cover ive seen of this is when i saw Kid Rock in concert he played it acoustic like it was meant to be played

  • This doesn't really sound like Brad. Maybe it's just the camera.

  • for one brad paisley rocks, johnny and brad are my two favorite artists. and brad is one HELL of a GOD at guitar!

  • Johnny Cash was always VERY honored when another performer covered one of his tunes.

  • On the contrary...Johnny Cash NEVER went to prison. He did time in jail but NEVER prison.

  • That's what I meant....Brad Paisley has probably never even gotten a speeding ticket....not cool...not cool

  • I've never been to jail but I cover Folsom Prison. You can check it out on my profile if you want. The band I had threw it together in about 10 minutes or so, along with the other songs we played from that show.

  • johnny cash got buster out here in my hometown of el paso, tx. he went to prison for pills, cmon man. johnnys my favorite dude, but i don't give a shit what you say brad's got some talent.

  • I bet Johnny Cash is turning over in his grave right now. I couldnt listen to the whole thing, I just couldnt stand to hear someone shitting all over one of the best songs ever recorded.

  • Johnny Cash himself has done loads of cover songs and didn't "shit" all over them (although some were certainly not that good). There is a such thing as reworking a song and that is what Brad chose to do instead of just playing it like Johnny Cash on the original recording.

  • How about Johnny Cash covering "hurt" by NIN... I wouldn't say he nailed that exactly true to the original, but people praised him for his efforts... WTF?!

  • when artists do covers in concert they are simply celebrating the past artists and keeping them alive through music i have no problem with artists doing this

  • Brad Paisley is one of the few country artists I like, and he is one of my favorite guitarists.

this was a very upbeat take on Folsom Prison.

    I kinda like it.

  • Brad Paisley is the only artist worthy of covering this song. He is great.

  • not bad Brad, you're very cool but Cash was and always will be THE man

  • seen him in saskatoon..... great show!

  • Brad can certainly play, but that's about the worst butchery of a good song that I've ever heard.

  • actually didn't think this one was too bad. I am generally against anyone trying to update or improve upon Cash's work, but i've seen far worse this than this.

  • WTF!

  • I saw him in West Palm Beach (Miami area)... amazin show... seen him 2 years in a row... will see him again

  • Brad has a bunch of prized guitars. he actually has them custom made or altered that is. His fav. is a 1968 telecaster. The guy that makes em is amazing. They also cost about $2500 each.

  • ha ha great singer love the song. live on johhny! i named my kid after brad! hell yea

  • I really envy you guys, i'm from Holland, am a big fan of Brad but he'll never play all the way out here... Such a shame, he's really great!!

  • J.Cash is way better!!!

  • :D:D:D yihhhaww

  • awesome! brad is fit!

  • I just found this by accident and have had no idea about this guy until now, God damn. I'm getting me some of his albums!

  • he is the best newer country guy. he is amazing on the guitar and actually writes meaningful songs.

  • nice! I enjoyed the cover!

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting!!!!

  • saw brad play this in Indy a few days ago... incredible entertainer. will definitely go again next year! the jams are the best part of the concert because you dont get to see them on CMT etc

  • Brad paisley is such an awesome guiatr player. He could play any song he wants to. His concerts are amazing!

  • Brad Paisley, singing a Johnny Cash song? It's alomst too awesome!

  • Wow I never knew he covered this song or that he could even jam that well, for that matter! Now I'm an even bigger fan!

  • how many guitars does this guy have? every vid i see of him hes playing a different one

  • i remember the first time i saw Brad live he covered Roger Miller's "King of the Road". That made me cry because it was my grandpa's favorite song....

but anyway, i love Johnny Cash and Brad did a really great job on this!!

  • Man I wish he would tour here in Scotland.

  • HELL, YEAH!!! Thanks for posting!

  • They're playing in G!?!

  • Probably had to. I don't think Brad could get as low as Johnny could.

  • This is spectacular! I didn't know they covered this song! I know they do Walk of Life because I've seen them twice playing that one but this is just fantasic. Do you have anymore of this show? The band looks like they were in top form!
