I saw Brad live in Georgia in 2002, the man was all over the stage and the chicks were goin' nuts. He was tearin' that guitar up he was all over it. He is quite the phenomenon.
@trexx32 What his voice lacks I think he makes up with his geet'. I like this the best as far as covers of this song go, but I don't think anyone will outdo the live at Folsom Prison version.
this is so old, looking back on how far Brad's popularity has taken him since this video. I'll wager a guess that this was taken in either 05' or 06'. Anybody that's been to one of his shows in the last 2 years knows how enormous the production has become. The stage is huge, with runways and lights and screens and all kinds of stuff. It's great
I love this video, i watch it over and over again cuz it's just so awesome. Thanks to the poster for keeping it up, it's one of my all-time favs. Cheers
I've searched the web and checked in every music store.. I have even had friends visiting USA who has looked over there, but nothing has been found.. I think it is about time he releases a concert DVD now!!
sigulst: Does Brad Paisley even have a live DVD? I mean, I've seen one called Mud on the Lens on Amazon, but I think it's out-of-print, which really sucks! I sure wish Paisley would have a live DVD out...and I'd love to hear his cover of "Folsom Prison Blues" on a CD!
pittsburghpenguins67: That's actually impossible...considering the fact that Johnny Cash died back in 2003 or something like that.
Now Slash--that guy would wish he could play half as well as Brad Paisley if all those close-minded rock guitarists (not all of 'em, but a lot of 'em) didn't make such a big deal over him. Slash is so overrated.
Well, Johnny actually wasn't a super good guitar player, he was actually a rhythm guitar player, but its HOW he played and he was a hell of a song writer, thats what made Johnny Cash a legend
And Brad Paisley wishes he could be the only person in the world to be in the rock, country, and songwriters hall of fame. And also have the 3rd most number ones in billboard chart history.
Alright before you have a heart attack, I wasnt knocking Brad Paisley i was responding to a comment someone made about johnny cash wishing he could play guitar like brad paisley. Im a big fan of Brad, and im sure any successful musician would die to have the career johnny cash had. Even Brad Paisley.
So keep swearing on youtube your making yourself look really intellegent
brad is absolutely a great great singer i love everything and im cool if i never hear this on a radio if this was just for fun you go brad you are a phenominal talent love your work
i dont like this but im not gonna put a death wish on him. hes doing his thing so it shouldnt bother us. if you dont like it nobody forces you to listen to it.
This is a great song...and this is a decent cover...but Brad Paisley hasn't gone through what Cash went though...and therefore will not be able to sing or play it with the same amount of soul that Cash did. So i don't hate the song, it's just nothing compared to the original...
There's a great cover of Folsom here on YouTube by Jon Christopher Davis that's worth checkin' out! It was filmed at Gruene Hall, Texas' oldest dancehall.
Imitation is the sincerest form of compliment. I think that's how the saying goes. Brad is honoring a great songwriter and country music legend by covering this song. I saw him do it live in Spokane, WA., last year...it was frigging AWESOME!

There is not a bigger douchebag on this planet than Brad Paisley. Get some talent....Johnny Cash actually went to prison pansy. Playing the guitar well doesn't make you a good singer
I've never been to jail but I cover Folsom Prison. You can check it out on my profile if you want. The band I had threw it together in about 10 minutes or so, along with the other songs we played from that show.
johnny cash got buster out here in my hometown of el paso, tx. he went to prison for pills, cmon man. johnnys my favorite dude, but i don't give a shit what you say brad's got some talent.
I bet Johnny Cash is turning over in his grave right now. I couldnt listen to the whole thing, I just couldnt stand to hear someone shitting all over one of the best songs ever recorded.
Johnny Cash himself has done loads of cover songs and didn't "shit" all over them (although some were certainly not that good). There is a such thing as reworking a song and that is what Brad chose to do instead of just playing it like Johnny Cash on the original recording.
How about Johnny Cash covering "hurt" by NIN... I wouldn't say he nailed that exactly true to the original, but people praised him for his efforts... WTF?!
when artists do covers in concert they are simply celebrating the past artists and keeping them alive through music i have no problem with artists doing this
actually didn't think this one was too bad. I am generally against anyone trying to update or improve upon Cash's work, but i've seen far worse this than this.
Brad has a bunch of prized guitars. he actually has them custom made or altered that is. His fav. is a 1968 telecaster. The guy that makes em is amazing. They also cost about $2500 each.
saw brad play this in Indy a few days ago... incredible entertainer. will definitely go again next year! the jams are the best part of the concert because you dont get to see them on CMT etc
This is spectacular! I didn't know they covered this song! I know they do Walk of Life because I've seen them twice playing that one but this is just fantasic. Do you have anymore of this show? The band looks like they were in top form!

yeah, the post date being october 2006 made that guess real hard i bet.

that doesn't necessarily mean it was taken on that date. the poster of the video might not have uploaded immediately after it was taken.
i saw paisley in '05, the stage setup was the same. that was my clue.
