why do people always get in this indie argument? if you compose and produce your own material, create the artwork, and dont pay for studio time and all that you are still an indie band. I love the Germs, but it is ignorant to imply that they are the best. I think they are one of the best punk bands, but it is something completely subjective. I personally like Modest Mouse and the Pixies better, but that is simply because I am more into Indie music of the 80s/90s than I am Punk of the 70s. If it was the other way around I would probably like the Germs better.

No there not dude Darby commited suicide on December 7, 1980 so there is no way they could be a band from the 80's. The Germs were originally active from 1977 until obviously Darby commited suicide. I'm not going to get into any other details of the band because I don't feel like it but I just thought I'd let you know that info for your own knowledge.
