Kihon Kumite are very hard. They look really simple, but when you do them they take a lot more practice and effort than you'd think.

@trslickpie you are totally right. I'm learning Sanbon sets 1 through 4 and they require a great deal of accuracy, timing, and speed. Wado is really a bad ass martial art. No fluffy moves. almost all Sanbon ends up with a junzuki to the floating ribs or else an empi to face. ouch!

in wado kai, my sensei teaches us to lower our head as we do the should thrust, its to get your head out the way if the opponant happens to counter.

um.... shotokan was the first karate introduced to Japan from Okinawa. Alot of Japanese Karate COMES from shotokan.
