You know when he asked "Why is a raven like a writing desk," it immediately made my mind drift back to the original Disney cartoon where Alice askes that, and drives Mad Hatter and the March Hare chicken! lol
because they were both written on by Edgar allen Poe?...i love this move i wish some one would post the part where the mad hatter asks alice if hes mad and she says yes but all the best ppl are its so cute :)
@TheAngelSpeaks15 Easy, it's a joke. If the Hatter would surely know her anywhere, he would also know Alice is a girl. So saying that Alice is a man is a contradiction, which in the nutshell is the joke. Weither he meant it as a joke or not is not is up in the air, since he is mad.

My friends call me their personal Mad Hatter so I would be delighted to answer those of your quesitons. Why is a raven like a writing desk? Well the late great Edgar Allen Poe wrote about one and on the latter. Or the other to the layman.
the answer to the riddle as it says in the actual book is "although they can both produce notes, they are VERY flat but can never be put with the wrong way up" or somthin like that. i bought the book a while ago+its sooooooo good!!!

The movie was as great as books. Johnny Depp is awesome as always but the Chershire Cat and March Hare were brilliant ! xD especially the March Hare ;)
This whole scene was my favorite out of the film. I have to say the March Hare nailed this scene best performance, maybe, to me of the whole film. Just saying to me everyone else liked other people don't be hating lol
I would love to know the answer to his question, in all the versions of Alice in Wonderland I ever saw, I recall them ever answering the riddle. Why is a raven like a writing desk?
I love this clip, I just wish the monologues were easier to understand as you can barely hear what they are saying due to the clattering of the tea pots but then again that might've been what Burton wanted. Great clip!!!

The Dormouse in this movie reminds me of a female version of Reepicheep from the Chronicles of Narnia series.

I know what you mean - it does sound a little starnde and random.
I never understood that part either - I think its meant to emphasise the mad hatter's "madness".
Hope this helped,

Classic riddle and the answer is simple. "Why is a raven like a writing desk?"- Because Edgar Allen Poe wrote on both of them! Classic.
