  • Why don't you take a review of a 1990s Mercedes 190 2.5 Turbodiesel? My uncle has one.

  • Why does every 84 have that CD player mine had it when I got it and everyother one I've seen has it

  • Loud diesels are better

  • turn the fucking new radio off^^

  • Americans buy cars according to audio...Always turn the first audio :DD

  • shit american edition lights

  • She's a noisey old beast but it will run forever! :)

  • had a 300d and other than rust...it was just beginning to "run" at 195999! Awesome tank of a car! would still drive one...!

  • the buzzer sounds like the emergency alert thing on TV!

  • it nails... the right sound for old mercedes diesels... all i wanna do is have some fun :)

  • @JiPaLa78 I learnt from another video that fitting Volkswagen AAZ injectors can quieten this engine.

  • the tecnical its out of date,,,but never trouble with it....

  • I have an 87 260E and the FIRST thing people say when they sit in the seat is "oooh. bouncy" -.- every. single. time.

  • the engine on the 1979-1993 (sedan) 1981-1992 (coupé) Mercedes-Benz S-Class Engine Straight-5 3.0 L OM617 diesel Straight-6 2.6 L M103 2.8 L M110 3.0 L M103 3.5 L OM603 diesel V8 3.8 L M116 4.2 L M116 5.0 L M117 5.6 L M117
  • It would look much better with original Bundt rims

  • Why does that not have the proper headlights fitted?

    is that a car auction?

  • @iib8903

Those are the US Spec sealed beam headlights they used from 1980 to 1985 in the united states only. Germany couldn't sell the car with the original headlights or bumpers to the US because of department of transportation restrictions. Also notice that the bumpers are a few inches longer than the european counterpart.

The way I see it is the US was trying to dumb down the Mercedes since it looked so good compared to any american cars at the time. lol.

  • @C06coolvette they did that with the volvos too, they look silly :/

  • Grandfather has a 560 SEC that has done 216k miles with an utter lack of consistent maintenance, so a 300SD in moderately well-maintained shape should do 300k easily. Love these older Benzes, the dual bonnet latches are a trip, and when you close it you have to push down on both sides to get them both secured.

  • Nice horn at the 5:17 mark.

  • Lets see a newer S Class go hundreds of thousands of miles...Highly doubt it with all those electronics and computers!

  • Ive got one 546,000 miles

  • Thats not very many miles for this car. Mine has nearly 400,000 and runs great.

  • Very nice looking car. I've always liked Mercedes-Benz diesel cars.

  • thats back when they made cars, Sigh

  • "Not gonna rev it too much, got that high mileage... " brah, you can drive that engine at 120mph for 9,000 miles before it siezes up, an your worried about revving it. It'll pull you're soul outta that statement :)

  • So he thought is was bouncy! :D

  • i own a 1986 300SDL yes sdl that looks just like this one and only 165000 miles and the interior is perfect ...i love it , wouldn't trade for a newer one ..... my runs quieter than this one ...lots of room, power and 30 mpg ...go figure

  • I love my old 300sd. She still turns heads and people ask me what year she is frequently, and my interior is perfect, the body has some minor cosmetic challenges, but overall, I love her.

(BTW, dear husband gave me a 2 year old e55 AMG, but I made him take it back because I wanted an '85 300sd.

  • Sounds like me school bus

  • The 3.0 5 cylinder turbo diesel is designed to go a million miles with proper maintenance.

  • WOW! The engine sounds like our 1996 Nissan Patrol here in the Philippines =)) :-bd

  • My dad had this same model car and it was in silver as well....

  • old junk

  • I have 500,000 miles on my 300SD. I wouldnt be scared to rev the most reliable diesel put into production.

  • it's awesome when you turn the car off but the engine still keeps running. My dad has one of these, not nearly as nice on the inside though

  • i live in the philippines and been driving in a black 85 sd. for 3 years. funny thing is young guys in new rice cars don"t have any idea what the sd is capable. I leave them once red turns green and let them eat black smoke. at he next red light i can"t help but smile. their faces, in disbelief. lol true ithink it"s the last merc. built with reliability and quality in mind. the sd will be my last merc.

  • Damn i wish mine looked like that inside =(.

  • This car has never been sold in Germany with a Diesel engine !! Export only.

  • I Love The Sound Of Old Mercedes Engines

  • oh dear, it sounds like a bus lol!

  • It's a Diesel engine my friend, that's why is so loud...

  • saabkyle04,you're great! =)))

  • you sound like Tiger Woods

  • Beautiful car man. Happy trails!

  • This doesn't have that high of millage...for the type of car.

  • What a great caddylack!

  • @tommysbrowncaddy in Soviet Russia caddy-lack YOU!

  • 26 years old an still looks great

  • That pinging noise has got to be annoying especially when you hear is all day in the car. And the buzzer too.

  • engine sounds epic

  • Sounds like a truck. About as tough as one, too.

  • fail mercedes.

  • Not a lot of miles for a diesel engine. If properly taken care of diesel engines can run a million miles or more.

  • Ive still yet to see why people always say mercedes benzs was better than Cadillac. The Interior in this thing is horrid. Id much rather have a deville!

  • @Motorfordtoyota Hmm, I would say that the Mercedes is a better car, but I would rather drive a Cadillac Deville too :)

  • @Motorfordtoyota Its a German car, we Germans are not big fans of flashy interiors or flashy anything.....if you love car interiors that look like liberace's bedroom then caddys are your best bet. ;)

  • @maurigian1 When was a 1984 Cadillac Deville's interior flashy? It may have some chrome but thats it.

  • @maurigian1 I am of German heritage and I completely agree with your statement!

  • And your trained ?Trained what horn blower? The classic M.B. were built better than the M.B. today the reason I know is I've owned the classics and a new one, The classic were much better, and 216,000 miles it's just broken in or lossen upto where it will run better and last .

  • What a beauty! That's nothing for mileage on a diesel, it's like brand new.

  • Loved the video. It was entertaining at least, watching someone unfamiliar with it, figuring out how things work. I've driven them for years. My 1984 300SD has 680K miles now. Replaced the transmission a year ago, but the engine's never been touched. Greatest machines ever put on the road, and still are to this day. Your "blast from the past" is my daily driver!!

  • I love the purr of the older Mercedes diesels!

  • Beautiful car. German quality. BTW, that really isn't a lot of mileage for that car. It will go another 200,000 easy (probably more) with proper oil changes. Thanks for the video.

  • now that's one great video

i mean all of kyle's videos are great

  • like the old tune of the good old diesel

  • most beautifull s-klasse ever made

  • I have a black 1985 300SD at 518k miles and still running strong, planning on going to a dealer and picking up my 750,000 km grille badge.

  • 216k miles high! no way i have one with over 300k runs great! this is a nice car with care 216k more will be easy !!

  • That engine is gonna outlast most people currently on earth.

  • i just bought a 1985 300D turbo diesel today, aside from being sluggish from some things being clogged up, these diesel cars are tanks im sure with proper maint. it'll last a long time

  • I have to admit that I dislike all diesel cars, specially for their noisy and clunky engines. I love W126s as long as they run on gasoline. A gasoline engine is always the best option for this car, even if you choose the small 6-cylinder 280 version. They run smoothly and start up better, even in winter.

With the 300SD Turbodiesel engine you certainly save fuel, but it´s too sluggish, underpowered..... and makes the car look heavier than it is.

  • sounds like the nozzles could be replaced you should repace them about every 130,000 miles

  • didnt think it would sound like a semi

  • my friend had this car....it caught fire not too long ago

  • for an euro car it looks very american dosen't it?!

    I LOVE IT! :D

  • this will run till they stop selling parts for it lol

  • Gotta love that sound mtygrandpa has a 98 turbodiesel and its awesome

  • Are these expensive to restore? I always see several for sale in my area for $1-2k. I love their body style and reliability.

  • is this for sale? and if so, where is it located?

  • @cjh661 I GOT ONE FOR SALE CHECK OUT MY VIDEO

  • whats the mpg

  • @1987hemi THERE ABOUT 25 MPG YOU'LL BE SURPRISED FOR ITS SIZE

  • you HAVE to test drive one of these lol

  • A nice vid.

Steady camera work and good commentary..

    I would buy this car.

  • awesome video, i wish i could afford a car dealer license.

  • A nice car, sympathetically reviewed and a good, steady camera.

    A pleasure to watch ,

  • starts perfect :-)

  • just bought one... it should be under way to Europe shortly. 257 K miles, and some wear n tear... but all round great driver. up and down a bunch of CO mountains (the rockies) last week and it just kept going.

love it cant wait to drive it up an Alp...

  • Makes me miss my old 300SD :(

  • i got a mercedes benz 1984 300 cd turbo diesel and it sounds FUCKING AWESOME

  • Did they ever make this car in a standard transmission?

  • @DjEndurancE Yes, 5 speed manual was available iirc.

  • Hey this looks almost exactly like mine. Any Ideas on how to repair the interior wood finish? I am working on restoringmine. It is certainly a tank of a car!

  • I have a 1984 300D Turbo Diesel with 154K on it. Silver. Still runs well, but does need some cosmetic work(windshield, front bumper, A/C needs to be replaced because these used old FREON type of A/C+ it seems to leak). Sounds much worse than it is. Just will take time and elbow grease. But still love it. Will get around to it soon, and change ownership/registration to that of a Classic which will allow for only 1000 miles/year MAX put on it.

  • 216K miles are nothing for these 300SD.

  • @zech007 I got an 280S with only 147K :D

  • @zech007 I had that car, the only issue was to clean the gas tank from the inside cus it was full with rost :) the hard part of the work was to figurate it out what the car need:) it is a good car tough, I loved it..oh and one time the key (starter key) was stock in tho lock so I had to change the complete part, cost me about 350 dollar plus tax also 420.

  • best car ever made!!!!

  • oh look, its 245*C where are you? hell?

  • Can i buy this benz from europe ? let me know pls.

  • I don't have a diesel mercedes, but I do have a Mercedes that runs on gas, lol, great car, very good car

    GO MERCEDES!

  • ahhaa

  • i ♥ diesels....

like my 4d56 Mitsubishi L200 engine

  • sharyl crow, lol

  • its a good car if you need to go long ways to work every day, and the S-Class is very save.

  • just my seeing the ziptie around the steering column tells me its at an auction... or insurance sell.

wonder how much it went for

  • You're almost out of fuel!

  • Cool video. My parents just ditched the 380se they bought in 1991. A little underpowered for an S-Class. I still wonder why Mercedes uses those mesh seat back pockets. They always sag and look horrible after a while.

  • do u still have this diesel for sale i really like it a lot

  • sound off music.. love those Diesels. I had one that had 435000 miles

  • thing sounds like a truck

  • the engine is a truck engine

  • Love these W126s! We never got the Diesel models in Australia.

  • hi kyle, your videos are cool.....!!!

  • Its funny that they put that stereo in a car like that!

  • great car!!!

a pity that has those ugly headlamps.

  • I've always wanted one of these.

  • Tank! The Europeans know where its @.

I am going to open a Mercedes- Benz dealership where I live soon! Its just like a Mc Donalds. Depending on where you live, "if you build it they will come"

  • In Kenya , qw have the right hand drive Benz 300 SEL with the v6 and they had the flush Headlights instead of the North American Headlights.Still one hot car.

  • My parents had a silver with grey interior when I was in HS in 1985. I looked up some of these YouTube for old times sake. The one they had (which was a 85') sounded like loud crickets at idle when brand new. I guess things wear out over time.. Nice exterior on this one. Other than the wheels it brings back memories...

  • That mileage is nothing for this engine. Don't worry about revving it, as long as it's warmed up.

  • that is to be expected. UR WRONG someone didn't take care of this one. I have seen a many of these cars on the road that put this one to shame. IF you take care of these Benz's they will last forever. AND take care of the interior, DONT smoke in ur car. and IT will last forever.

  • wow...didnt know they had electric seats back then...

  • its a mercedes, a german company. most of the electric items in our vehicles today come from things the germans put in their cars 10+ years ago

  • its a benz

  • It goes back to idle really fast. My parents used to have one of these but it wasn't a diesel. Older Mercedes are well-known for their bouncy seats lol.

  • blue interior turned me of a lil bit on this car

  • I know theses cars can do riddiculas ammounts of milage there fucking quality like the 1995-1999 mercedes c250d and e300 d there all like that.

A mercedes sprinter on a 1994 plate thats done 333000 miles nd that running like new that engine will last another 300,000 miles easily.

  • now thajts ture luxctly car not the plasic crap we have today

  • I agree that stupid CDI engine they make today or even the car is not a patch on them cars back then

  • when you get to 600,000 miles then you can say about revving that motor!

  • You say you're "not going to rev this one too much....got that high mileage"...??? Dude, this car is just getting broke in good at 216,000; that engine sounds perfect and very strong! I have a 1982 300D with a lot more miles than that and it is still going strong. Yours has plenty of life left.

  • there was a corvette next to it an old but still nice benz the alarm sounds like bee

  • LOVE Mercedes. thanks man.

you think you could find the first-gen S-class, the W116?

  • this was when Mercedes actually had quality and reliability

  • @mabdiuhrman they still do, at least in the E-Class

  • @michaelpack1988 yes bcz the special klass (2001-2006) has lack on interior quality the e-klass is well balanced (u not feel drive a boat like the S class) and finitions quality is a level heigher.

  • Looks in pretty good shape for over 216,000 Miles, I'd buy it!

  • Next time you go to auction, would you please put a lot of cars into one video, like everything in the row?

  • 10 min video limit

  • I always like the feel when you close the door of these old benzes, particularly W123, 124 and 126 (this one)..... then you can feel it is built with ingenuity and absolute perfection... I'm wishing todays mercs are as "stone" as these... thanks for posting!

  • Beautiful car and really good condition for the mileage, you'd expect some tears, but I'm amazed that the exterior is so mint.

  • nice old benz! Not bad for a 25 year old car.

  • what was that sound after you shut it off

  • The buzzer that tells you the door is open.

  • Nice! Thanks! Im a sucker for old German autos. Next time you see a Mercedes or BMW, check out the windsheild wipers on them, they are double jointed on one side to get a better sweep. This one has a weird wiper set up too, check it out if you can.

  • very nice gauges

  • wooohoo, finally, a diesel car making an apearance on your channel!!! I like diesels, i wish they sold more of them here in north america! They seem to last for freaking ever!!!

  • Yeah man that's for sure, I actually got another diesel mercedes video coming up haha, a 2008 GL350 CDI, that thing was pretty sweet, a lot more refined than this 1984 haha!

  • Is it just me or was the oil pressure really high?

  • haha yeah it was idk why though lol

  • one of the bigger luxury car. but still a beautiful

  • you got that right

  • hmm needs a quick detail and come better rims and it will be good looking

  • oh yeah, the only thing really wrong with it was that rip in the seat

  • its not only beautiful but big and luxurious

  • I wish I could've driven it :/

  • Beautiful Benz!

  • Good ole classic

  • got to love ur diesel benz

  • got another video of one coming up, 2008 GL350 CDI!

  • nice video!!!

  • Thanks!
