when i save my character in milkshape i save it as autodesk 3ds but i cant open it under material editor ( it says its a .3ds ) i can see yours says .pgn?
1 when i go and export my model into 3ds, fbx from wow model viewer its always is missing the armour (only happens when i make my own character from the character section)
2 - when i load the model into milk shape it appears as a big deformed blog of verticies.
im using wow model viewer v0.7.0.1 r500 windows 32-bit
nice video. have some of you guys looked at the wow cheats pack from warcraftbotsXinfo (replace X with .) ? its incredible, i just downloaded the pack. it's got absolutely every thing in it, gold guides, bots, hacks, glitches and even the newest arena glitch. i probably shouldnt tell people about this however at least this offers you all a reasonable chance to get it before i pwn you all!
@Lolbrosproductions Calm down, joints to the skeleton They're just overly huge! This is what you do. Click File> Preferences > Misc tab > Under Joint Size put "0.1" - click OK then click on a view port. Now the joints should be smaller. If you don't want to see it at all on the default UI go to the joint tab and uncheck "Show Skeleton" and poof its gone.
Sorry but i didn't here something clearly. After you have the model in Milkshape, Where do you export it to? There is so many file types in that list and i don't want to mess it up.
This video is really great thanks, I've been fiddling around and got my models into Max without Milkshape (is that the name? I couldn't quite hear) but the textures were driving me nuts as they just turned everything a blank grey.
One quick question though, like FizzleyFizz said. you say the texture files "get packed up with wowmodelviewer" what do you mean by that exactly? cos there's a button on wmv marked export texture I thought that was it or is it something from Milkshape?
Yea, wmo bakes all the data in texture ie the alpha's, spec etc into one jpg and kinda flattens it. Or at least it did, havent use wmv for a long time,
when you say "they all get packed up with wow model viewer" when reffering to the textures, i didnt get textures when i saved, i got the models into 3ds with no problem, im just curious if theres a setting or anything else i missed about how i would get the textures
Something like blind is pretty straight forward and easy. Blind is very good from a machinima point of view but from a 3d persons point of view its nothing special. If it was done in 3d which i assume it was, it lacks many many things in terms of anim, texturing and modeling.. But its still a nice vid.
dude,. you dont put enuff detail into what your doing. like u say. go to wire frame. im sitting here wondering. how the hell you doing it. be more detaled!!!

Apparently, even importing the .3ds fails horribly, as it claims that it's an improper format, so even dealing with a mess isn't possible.

It doesnt matter, just export it from wow modelviewer as a milkshape file, load it up in MS and export it out to 3ds. If the head is above the char u just move it in max.
Yes some geosets come in dupes but this is down to how you export from milkshape. Its always worth checking however and deleting the extras.. Please check my rigging tutorial.
Just a tip for people that have trouble smoothing their characters afterwards or get alot of bad edges after exporting their characters to a 3D printing tool.. Sometimes the geosets come out in duplicates aswell! In my case, the bottom part of a robe. Check it before you attach them together for the body.
Its really hard to make a wow movie nowadays. Not only do you have to use every single trick all the others before did in the machinima world, but you must also find some means to edit the wow models or even retexture them. The animations are getting too old and the best way to counter this, is to make your own animations. Thanks for your guide, this will certainly come in handy with the movie making I'm about to do:)
Then I apologise for the attitude comment :).. No, its not machinima but then when you break out of the box of what machinima is suppost to be then your can class it as hybrid. Movies made with model viewer (90 % of wowmovies) is not machinima too.
Thank for your comment. I am planning to make a rigging one with biped but am bogged down with zbrush atm. Im chosing biped because my aim is for beginners in max, tutorials should leave a lot open for the individual to learn. I would work on pulling out the bones and anim from wow with a max script but it would defy the point of learning to rig with biped/bones but i can see your point of getting them, it would make it easier to make vids :)..

ey iwkya1, is there any other way of importing the models as this doesn't work for us ?
Remgorze 1 year ago
well this modeling is cool and so. but all the items lost much of the style and enchants and things like that. so it looks like hmmmm. clay.
eikira 1 year ago
That has to do with lighting and the way the light is configured to effect the textures... not the models themselves.
