I can't say enough how impressed I am by the playing of Crispian Steele-Perkins. Everything he does is so masterful: impeccable rhythm, articulation, intonation, and marvelously tasteful style. He radiates both solidity and artistry.
The harpsichord player is really getting into the music. I bet he burned an extra 1500 calories playing this. I think it really adds to a performance when the performers are enjoying the music as much as the audience.
Not only is Crispian Steele-Perkins a fine performer in this group...but it might be worth mentioning the theorbo player...it seems like it's Christina Pluhar...could someone confirm this?...I know she has freelanced a lot with some of Europe's most renowned period instrument ensembles.
@djo028: Lynda Sayce is playing the theorbo in this video as far as I can tell. Great musician, lots of information about this fascinating instrument on her website (theorbo.com).
@Neverpiefly You can't say that. Just because another version of a piece appears in a different opus, doesn't mean that one or the other version is not... well... what it is. You should know that recycling pieces was very common during that time. Composers did not only recycle their own works, but also those of others (and usually, this wasn't considered "stealing"). Such pieces are called "pastiches" or - when they involve lyrics - "parodies".
The solo trumpeter here is Crispian Steele-Perkins - arguably the greatest exponent of the baroque trumpet in modern times. He is renowned for his recordings and performances on the modern vented baroque trumpet (as used here), the un-vented (or "no-holes") natural trumpet, the keyed trumpet, the various slide trumpets, as well as on modern instruments - he is a very nice man too!
@trombalontano Is this a 3 hole vented trumpet? I have been trying to find one online but of course it is difficult to. In the video it almost looks as if there are only 2 holes for the thumb and pinky. v

What is the 2nd song that they play here in minor key? It's not a part of HWV 341 I don't believe...

@jppuertorico85 It sounds like some kind of sarabande but it's definitely not from HWV 341.

@jppuertorico85 sounds to me like an arrangement of the sarabande from the the g minor harpsichord suite
