These days, what can be more pretentious than some asshole who gets a $15 haircut w/ spike gel, spent $3k in stupid fucking tattoo's , and yet plays a $150 guitar with the ability of a month of Mel Bay's book 1 "lessons", and yet he is now an "artist".
The whole thing makes me sick. Support independent artists, real ones, who promote themselves via the internet - let the Record Co.'s DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It should be no surprise that today, the image of the guy with the guitar, or the guitar player extrordinare, or the "rocker"/"punk"/"artists" - whatever,...is now just an image. It has become a joke.Now the whole family can be a "rocker" with 'Rock Band' video games, they can watch really "cool" "bands" on Nikelodeon "battle" it out with their other middleschool friends's "bands", or watch Hannah Montanna really "rock the house" etc.... -- it's a fucking joke!! A commodity!! A laughing stock!
1990-the present : Rock is now a "culture", and "artists" are only encouraged to have an image. Everything else is handled by a "team" (songwriters,producers,press agents,managers etc..).Talent is no longer a pre-requisite.Record Co.'s realize that a "career" is not in their best interests for the "artists" anymore, it's WHAT IS SELLING NOW, that counts. "One Hit Wonders" are simply tax write offs,thus they are still valuable to the Rec.Co's. - ROCK IS D*E*A*D................
Evolution of Rock N Roll: late 1800's to 1950 Jazz & Swing & Blues/Country, 1950's: early Rock is born & the Rocker persona is started by Elvis ,Perkins,Cash,Holley etc.,1960's Brits reflect the rich American blues influence to Rock and begins a new era 1970's:Rock becomes a full scale business,artists are encouraged to explore and meld forms & styles.1980's:Rock becomes a major form of industry with media outlets other than radio, 1990 - present : CONT>>>
@hazor777 I know you're kidding, but that's Roger Clyne
@stevecurwin That's what brought me here -- I was watching A channel here in Southern Ontario, and a commercial with him came on, and I was like, "WAIT, I KNOW THAT GUY!"
It also looks like Brian is back on his feet in Tennessee, he is with The Toluenes. I personally wish him the best of luck.
