  • Damn! I love it.....

    I love old times

  • My god this is so beautiful...makes me feel like these Pilots are like Gods..i love aviation pilots but this ones require much more skill and precision and thats a fact!!! man this was beautiful...the sound of the car...i i thought i was happy and good at F1 2011 from codemasters...this is the real thing

  • I seem to have attracted a lot of replies from my comment! nice that 35 people actually agree with me though! The key word in my statement was 'seems'

Anyway I will watch this again just to enjoy that glorious V12

  • hungaroaring!

  • 3.5 v12 1991!!!!! yeah biggest times biggest motors engines

  • I WANT THOSE SOUNDS BACK IN F1!

  • i'dd kill to test this car only few hours ! xD

  • checkout the sparks at 51 seconds in

  • awesome quality!

  • that's real racing!

  • look at the high kerbs! i like that, no chance to cutting or making advantage.

  • Best ever sound

  • Una vuelta con berger cuanto todavia tenian palanca de cambios manual

  • What's this ?! A F1 circuit with grass & gravel??

We need to bring back punishment for mistakes!

  • @KINGOSWALD

So you want the drivers to be injured? Wow you're a real dali lama aren't you, such compassion. Go crash yourself and save us your brilliant "opinions".

  • Berger haha

  • was it a jump start?

  • I can watch this all day....a perfect example of just how hard F1 is and was- by the end of the first lap, berger is nowhere.

  • The sound is awesome!

  • How to make F1 exciting again:

    1. Bring back the V10s and V12s!!!

    2. Remove all those computer gadgets, they just make the sport artificial.

    3. Did I say bring back the V10s and V12s?

  • @Malinth66 V10 andV12 were at the limit. nothing new to developed. with V4 turbo F1 and AERO, times per lap will be same as now.

F1 car is not about engine. engines are the same these days, as said marc gallagher from cosworth..

F1 is about technologies. KERS and aero, is the way.

  • Now this is real F1... beautiful sounding V12, manual transmission, real men with driving skills fighting powerful cars without all electronic gadgets and gizmos!

Today it seems like the drivers just point the cars in the direction of the corner and the computer does the rest.

  • @r66chs they didnt use clutch, it was sequental i think.

  • @vprmn The car in the video is a Mclaren mp4/6 it used a H pattern box

  • @r66chs you do actually realise they havn't had any driver aids on the cars for about 7/8yrs. the driving just looks easier, 'coz we cant see them working away so well, 'coz modern on board cameras have built in electronic steady cam, 'coz the levels of downforce they produce mean that they don't slide quite as far. that said, they are constantly beyond the limits of traction, the cars are constantly sliding, and at far greater speed than they ever have before. arguably it's more impressive now.

  • @MrTautologist Err didnt they ban TC again in 2008? also I understand about the image stabalisation on the cameras. I'd say the additional downforce DOES make the driving easier although they are trying to rectify this now with the narrower tyres. Yeah technologically it may be more impressive now but I found the 90's more exciting.

  • @r66chs Wouldn't the extra downforce make it harder to drive due to higher cornering speeds therefore greater force on the drivers?? I would personally say the drivers of today are greater than ever with more training than ever before available to them its really impossible to say that one era of driver is better than another without like for like comparrisons. I admire both

  • @pillowhead4000 Harder on the drivers physically yes, they are much better athletes today then they were in the past thats for sure. But harder to drive todays cars... i'm not so sure. Still respect to drivers of today, this years championship was the closest for years.

  • @r66chs Dam how many more times will I hear this crap.. while it's truth that older F1s were harder to drive, it's NOT because of any computers. They don't have any computers aiding with driving itself today. The only reason why todays F1 are easier to keep on track is because of better tires and huge downforce, with engine power is more or less the same.

  • @mrpowcz Hardly crap then is it if you are admitting they are easier to drive today. they only banned TC in 2008 so ok this season they dont have driver aids I admit but they did have for a long time. Also you cant say that you don't find todays engines muted compared to this? even in V8 configuration they are capable but restricted you hear the drivers complaining of bouncing off the limiter whilst trying to overtake. u telling me the Mclaren above does not sound better than todays cars?

  • @r66chs Show me where I'm talking about sound.. of course they sounded much better than they do now! I just don't like the fact many people consider today's F1 racing easy. Unlike them I can imagine how stressful it must be to brake or corner at 5g at 300+kph.. .tl;dr: driving f1 is easier than it used to be, but still damn hard

  • @mrpowcz I never said it was easy, just as you said.... easier than it used to be thats all! I still watch it afterall!

  • @r66chs

While that may hold some truths, you cannot deny today's driver's skills. The cornering speeds are higher and the cars don't slide much, they either stick or you crash, the older cars had some leeway in the sliding around department. Epic driving none the less.

  • @eraseyouu Yeah its that sliding that caused alot of the enjoyment for me! I understand that todays cars are harder to find the limit in, its like they will let go suddenly rather than progressively. I'm hoping that the new downforce regulations add to this reducing grip. the V12 though I will just have to dream about lol

  • @r66chs

"Today it seems like the drivers just point the cars in the direction of the corner and the computer does the rest."

Fore sure to drive now day cars is easier than old cars, but you are really talking shit here

Today F1 cars are not "videogames", they are real cars wich requires A LOT of driving skills, they are just easir than old cars.

Im sure any actual driver can drive fine a old f1 car praticing a little.

  • @brunoiwa I never said todays drivers do not possess skill they clearly do, they are probably fitter and better athletes than 80s and 90s era drivers ever where, but that doesnt make it more exciting.

  • @r66chs

F1 cars of 1991 probably had more computers doing things than F1 cars of today.

  • @PulletSurprise Yeah like H pattern gear boxes?! if you had said mid 90's I would have agreed with you!! :)

My comment has attracted a lot of replies but the one thing nobody has argued against is that the 3.5ltr V12 in this car sounds beautiful and is a sound we will never hear in F1 again, we will be getting 1.5 turbo's soon, a blast from the past you might say, but you know they will have limited boost and revs unlike in the 80's where they would tune them up for qualifying 3 laps and pop!

  • @r66chs semi-automatic gearbox, active suspension, traction control, start control were all electronics gizmos used by the cars of that era!lets be realistic here, driving an F1 car of any era is not a stroll in the park.nowadays they have more grip because of the extra downforce the cars produce, but in no way any computer does the driving.

  • @eloria1965 "emi-automatic gearbox, active suspension, traction control, start control were all electronics gizmos used by the cars of that era!"

By Williams and Ferrari maybe yes, not on the car in the video! I know formula one is still a difficult sport. its the high grip levels from the modern cars that make it appear video game like, im hoping the new rules get them sliding around a bit more.

  • @r66chs - I think it has a lot to do with the cameras. Put cameras from the 90s in today's cars and see how "easy" it looks then...

  • @r66chs Clearly you haven't been keeping up with the times.

  • @r66chs v10

  • @l0dgey The MP4/6 was Powered by a Honda V12

  • @r66chs yo, do u remeber how many liters that v12 was. i know v8 2.4l and v10 3.0l but i dont remeber them using v12s.

  • @TheZoelzer2 this was a 3.5l Honda V12 :)

  • @r66chs manual transmission is in these days too, driver is shifting by clicking his finger under steereing wheel ;) clutch is automaci...and this is only one electronic thing. all other elecronic AIDS are banned

  • @r66chs Yes, although it could be much worse. Remember that active suspension, traction control, launch control and fully automatic transmissions are still banned in Formula 1 by the FIA and quite rightly so in my humble opinon.

  • wow, this is from before i was born, back when they used a real manual transmission instead of the paddles

  • @gotmewrong93 There is nothing manual about that transmission. It's a sequential box, they just use a stick instead of the paddles. Ferrari started using the paddles as early as '89.

  • @mrsiCkstar It looks like he's using a h pattern. Maybe he's shifting without the clutch on upshifts but it still seems like a manual box.

  • @420Vali You're right, sorry. I checked and only Williams and Ferrari used a sequential semi automatic in 1991.

  • @mrsiCkstar Yeah its fair enough. Its hard to tell in the vid as the shifting is ridiculously fast and the throws on the gear shift are extremely short.

  • Man! Nice video, can anyone bring back good old f1 time ;-)

  • ...and you could really hear and see different drivers using different techniques, such as Ayrton Senna blipping the throttle on longer radius corners. The mad downshifts with heeling and toeing...I can go on and on!!

  • Around this time, F1 was at its peak. I stil love F1, and we are set for a very interesting season in 2010, possibly a real cracking one, but I will never forget how beautiful F1 was in the late 80s en early 90s. I feel priviliged to have seen the likes of Senna, Berger, Mansell and Prost tackle Spa-Francorchamps in cars like this. The sound was unbelievable, the sparks from the cars bottoming out onto their titanium rubbing strips...(tbc)

  • Finally a sane person who appreciates, every era in F1 for what they are, and their differences!

Usually its: the old days where ALWAYS much better, and ALL driver today are imbeciles who would never have lasted 30 years ago (despite they have carted before they could walk, and know pull gs that would rip the head of most people, sitting so low in the car that almost all corners are now blindyep thats a walk in the park!!!).....

  • Every era has their own charms! And the many great things about F1 years ago, does not in any way contradict that there should be many great things todaywhich there are indeed!

But A LOT of people sadly seems to think so!

We have just had some of the closest seasons everjust think of 07/08! 3 and 2 drivers with in 1 point from the WC! And yet people claim non-stop that F1 where much closer back when bla bla bla! And todays drivers is all is just bla bla bla!

  • A good mix could be:

The close competition we have today time wise! Both between drivers and teams!

Also keeping the very high cornering speeds and braking ability of today!

Then mix it with the super cool look of the especially early 90s cars!

Bring back the flat floors with the low ride height and hence the SPARKS! (If it could be made safer)

Then at last, some larger displacement, but lower reving engines with a deeper, meaner sound!

And maybe more points for a victory?!

  • I love how we progress over the years. I grew up watching GT's and the 24 hr races but in the mid 90's I fell in love with F1. The shifting -- and one hand on the wheel, way to much going on in the seat.

  • geez i think some of those down changes were harder on the engine than when the car was on the straights

  • agreed

  • What a sound.

  • 確かにセナに比べてオーバーレブしやすいシフトだな

  • Awesome vid, love the sound of that engine.

  • the V12 sounds awesome!

  • real cars. thanks.
