@captainfroghammer No guitar player is as good as Glenn. He may play extremely fast, but he is just so much more precise than any guitarist who can just shred or 12 bar blues, or jazz licks. He really is the king. I think Yngwie Malmsteen or Michael Angelo Batio are the other two greatest guitar players alive, next to him. Kirk Hammett gets boring, all he does is play in the same key and finger picks alternate picking in the same stroke and manner every damn solo. Glenn Tipton, he's the master.

@Noah58 yeah, I agree with your post, and to be honest my comment was a dorky joke. lol (of course Mr Tipton is 1000 times better than me :) ) I just saw Judas Priest in Denver 4 days ago! they were awesome, Tipton was very cool, he actually jumped out in the crowd at the end which surprised me. :), he is my favorite guitarist. Richie Faulkner did a great job also. Halfords voice was incredible, I didnt know he could still sing like that. Was great. :)

Great long time partnership.....Thank God, KK and Ian were able to get Glenn from The Flying Hat Band in 1974, right before Rocka Rolla was recorded.

@MikeLamb24 Their latest tour was great. Granted he may not be as schooled as a lot of the newer guitarists out there, but few can say they started a musical revolution. The fact that Glenn moved away from Crate and went to a Mesa rack system helped his live sound tremendously. Perfect volume settings, effects, the whole production that they lacked live for years was finally there.

These guys wereplaying as a famous duet long before most of us were even conceieved. The very word "Heavy Metal" was just being coined. Judas Priest is one of those seminal bands who have laid the foundation of Heavy Metal as we understand and enjoy it today.

Whats more, it might be the only reference in the whole world to the "emotional" quality of Herman's playing...

That is with each successive Priest album both of their technical skill and song writing prowess is always at least one up from their lest efforts. For over 30 fucking years. Not to mention probably the best metal guitar duo alive. Listen to the solo layout on "The Sentinel" that dueling guitar/dual guitar arrangement was miles ahead of their peers.

Wow I can't believe he's using a Crate head. Not that there's anything wrong with it. Now I don't feel so bad using my Line6 75, in fact, I used to own a Crate single stack back in the day. Marshall amps rule, but the Crate & Line 6's of the world are more versatile allowing you to have a lot of effects without spending all day hooking up pedals, preamps and so on. Fucking eh!

This guy single handidly projected JP above and beyond most bands of that time. While KK is great, Glenn really was the best writer for them.

JP hit a second level of musicianship with Les Binks as well, with his writing and progressive style.

Dave Holland suited them best though by keeping things simple.

Scott Travis marks all the declining years and albums. Too modern, too fancy, and has utterly killed JP's music by forcing them towards an incorrect drummer for this band.
