Is your RSA a dark brown finish as well? Mine looks like its a dark dark brown, rather than a black metal...it's more noticeable when it's in my AR...I enjoy your videos..thanks bro!
I have no rails on my handguard. Do you think mounting the RSA to the very front of the flat-top receiver would be awkward?, considering the rear attachment point is the end-plate (magpul ASAP).
@VENAT0RIS I wouldn't get the RSA, unless you already own it. There are several options out there that are much better than the RSA. I know people out there do it but personally I wouldn't instal a sling attachment point to my gas block. My gas block clamps on to my barrel and I would never do that. I should clarify and ask what exact gas block do you have?
@MrKtn335 I would have to agree with you. It has some serious design flaws, number one being it easily has interference's getting your sling attach to it. I haven't done it yet but I'll probably just go back to my Daniel Defense QD Sling Swivel. Like you I'm very curious how the RSA turned out for the guy straightening it out. If he did the mod successfully I'm sure the RSA would works much much better.
Sorry to say, but the best place to mount the RSA is on the top rail, a few inches in front of your optic. The sling clip doesn't bind, the sling stays out of my way with a forward thumb over bore grip, and the bottom of the rifle and magazine don't twist inward when my hands are doing other things. Give it a try.
@032125 Hey man I totally agree with you. The only problem is that leaves me VERY LITTLE room to allow the MS2's lock jaw to actually fit between the RSA and XTM rail covers. I would love to run it up there but I just don't want to struggle with such small clearances. You do make some excellent points, I see you've really thought it out. Thanks man, I'll try it for a little bit and see if I can get used to the small gap.
@MustyYetisTacticalHQ What's your reasoning on the rail cover gaps? Is it a function issue, or just 2nd type of cool? Either ways is legitimate, I'm just curious. Thanks for posting great videos by the way. Come day I'll get my rifle finished and post a vid. It's Barbie for men, you know.
@032125 I'm assuming you are talking about the small gaps on both sides of the vertical grip. I simply had to choose between lining up my XTM rail covers at the edges having a small gap at the VG. Or run the XTM rail covers flush against the VG, leaving extra space on the ends of my rail which would make none of the rail covers line up... So I guess you can say it's just personal preference, I think it flows better. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for the kinds words brother, take care.
@MultiSr16 You can put the Magpul MIAD grip kit on there but you need to buy an adapter piece to fit an AR style grip to an AK. Oh and you can't run the back straps that curve up around the receiver like a 1911 beaver tail. You have to either trim it down or choose a piece that doesn't have it. Check out DaytonaRoadster's channel, he has the MIAD Grip Kit installed on his AK and probably explains it better.
@MultiSr16 Yeah I could do that, the thing is I run into the same problem... the XTM rail covers leave very little to no room for the MS2 sling to clamp on. Someone earlier said they were running into the same issue and they were thinking about bending the loop on the RSA up a little bit to get more realestate to work with. I'll probably try that myself here shortly.
@evankoeve What's up man. No matter where I mount this thing it's almost too low profile. Even with it mounted on top it would rid a little too close to the XTM rails covers, there just needs to be more space between them. Jamonrye said he was having the same problem and was thinking about bending it to make more room. If it works for him I'm doing it ASAP.
I know how you feel man. I waited for that damn RSA for a year.
I bought it the first day it was released and ran into so many mounting problems.
I'm tempted to bend it back and make the hook come straight out so i have clearance. I'll let you know if I try it out.
Oh...If you check the package it also is supposed to be mounted with a allen wrench instead of a flat head...another thing magpul changed just before it was released (i guess)
@jamonrye Yeah it definitely isn't the easiest mount to attach a sling to, it's almost too low profile. You need to let me know as soon as you try bending it, so I know if it works. If it bends without weakening the metal or breaking. I'm actually thinking about going to my Daniel Defense QD sling swivel. Seriously, let me know how that bending goes.
@boosted28 Well good man, It's always nice to hear my videos helping someone out. I can't imagine you having any problems with it, it's a solid sling mount. Take care man.
@Gmaker202 Well the RSA is much thinner than the DD Sling mount. The RSA weighs in at 1.26 ounces and the Daniel Defense weighs in at 1 ounce. I got those figures online and I'm not sure if the Daniel Defense weight includes the push button swivel or not.
@cypherbb6 Well the nice thing about the RSA is its low price. I think it sells for around 25 dollars, can't really go wrong with that. I think my Daniel Defense QD sling swivel was closer to 40. For such a low price I would just try the RSA. I don't own the AFG so I can't really tell you my thoughts. I do want to buy one though, give it a try and see how it works.
@MustyYetisTacticalHQ yeah i saw the first part of that video didnt see the rest before man they have got some great stocks for the 10/22 and the mini14 now it makes me wont a mini14 lol so we'll see after i get this 10/22 up and running i might have to buy 2 of them make one with bull barrel and one with out or just buy the 10/22 target tactical its an idea
Finally got the RSA! I felt the same way but theres simply nothing like it out there IMO and I think yours as well. Just mount that thing on the top rail, its gonna give the best range of motion and the gun will hang better.
@TheTactical6string Yeah I couldn't say no to the RSA any longer. I would mount it to the top but I would run into the same problems, the XTM rail covers don't allow much space for the MS2's clips to attach to the sling mount. Like I said in the video I just need time to figure out what will work best for me.
i was having MustyYetisTacticalHQ fever and the only cure is more MYTHQ lol good to see you again friend been awhile great video by the way also just bought a ruger 10/22 and ordered some upgradeds for it havent gotten them in but when i do i'll email you some pics but theres so much more to get for it well maybe not a ton more to put on it but enought to think i'll have to buy another 10/22 so i can satisfy my addiction right now lol later
@redmule02 Has it really been that long since I last uploaded a video??? Sorry I made you wait. Dude you just got a Ruger 10/22, I'm jealous. Im curious how the RSA turned out for the guy that was going to try bend it straight
Great video's.......love to see how other guys are laying out there AR's
