another video it seems you prefer the drystack method? or am i missing the binder? i am curious how you can have a somewhat wobbly wall and a top joint that won't immediately crack and crumble...

@dasearsestower part 3 should answer your questions. I can just tell where it needs the cement. usually every foot I cement it to tighten it up. but enoungh to let the water get through. thanks. Mike

@dtmbcorp its hard to explain. but this wall is in pennsylvania and sometimes the winters will take the frost line over 5 feet deep. If you put the wall on a footer the frost might get under part of it and pick it up and drop it down. this wall is put on gravel the same principal as a railroad track. every mason has his own style for their area. I never had a problem using gravel. I learned it from the old timers,.always ask the local builders for their adivice. hope that helps Mike

Great. 1x2 cement- sand. The trick of the sponge is new to me, it´s great. Thanks.

@heliosium I use 2 buckets of sand and one bucket of portland cement. (never had a problem with portland) the trick of the sponge is to make sure you rinse it out good before you use it and always keep changing your water. If you have a film you can scrub it off the next morning. practice first on some old stones. thanks Mike
