RHaffer- the one namecalling and trying to shut down the Sheriff was Supervisor Ron Briggs. I hear they have a history of not playing nice with each other.
This board is a bunch of arrogant bastards that disrespect the County's staff on a weekly basis. They micromanage the entire County and create more work for the staff they are constantly reducing. Go Sheriff! Unfortunately it took an elected official that they can't fire to stand up to them. Sounds like the citizens of the County have had enough of this Board by the reaction of the audience.
I have known and worked with John D'Agostini for ten years in Amador County. He always exemplified a professional and no nonsense approach to law enforcement and I can say it is refreshing to see he has tackled the challenges of his new office with the same. He is one of very few with the morals and fortitude in public office nowadays to stick to his guns where people's lives and ability to provide for their family's are at stake. Sheriff D'Agostini is my new hero! Givem hell Jonny D! - Robert
I was once a citizen of good ole El Dorado County, I have to say now that I live out here in Texas, and see how Law Enforcement is and should be treated, with respect and dignity for the job that they do, I am glad to see that this Sheriff stood up for his department, and quite honestly, it is not the sheriff that should be reprimanded for speaking the truth by the board, but perhaps the good people of El Dorado County should band together and elect a new board. Just my 2 cents.

Listen to the first 2 seconds over and over to see how Politicians feel about a Sheriff who believes in serving his people. I am glad Ray Nutting respects the process and his Sheriff, it seems. But we voters of EDC need to kick this board between the legs and get them on board with the whole "Public Servant" aspect of their job.

Did you know that every county from tiny Mariposa to Alameda County has an Undersheriff and so did EDC? EDC only eliminated it for budget reasons when Undersheriff Fred Kollar was elevated to Sheriff in the interim after Neves quit and before the new Sheriff was elected. That was less then one year. It seems that insiderinpho is the only one inventing things.
@insiderinpho Not only, best. It is clear from his record north of sac that he is qualified experience wise, but that is not the only attribute, trust of your number two man is an important element also. Coming into a department with ingrained issues, I am not at all surprised that he would want someone that will have his back. It is well known that several of the Capts were supporting D'Agostini's rival for the job of Sheriff.
Is this the same Sheriff who invented a position using taxpayer money and then gave it to his Brother-In-Law? The ONLY qualified individual for the job? Nice.
I don't live in that county or state, but I wish I could vote for that man!

Good for Sheriff D'Agostini! Very unusual to see a sheriff be so direct and call like it is. El Dorado County is fortunate to have this new sheriff.

watching Cops and being one are not the same. strap a gun on the board memeber and let him shag some calls.

Good job, Sheriff! It's comforting knowing that we have that kind of confidence and leadership in EDC law enforcement!

Arrogant BOS members throughout this state ought to be put in their place as the Sheriff did on this one. You go Sheriff!

@PlacervilleInfo Fair enough. So why was his brother-in-law the only one qualified?
