@WeAreFrakked Accounting -is- outsourced to India and other places. And if it comes to happen that enough jobs are lost then wages will go down and labor will return to the US. That's capitalism for you!
I am Indian and I support this video 100%. Why should American jobs go to India? Americans do not establish any businesses in India. Nor do American companies have any revenue coming from India. Then why should American jobs go to India?
agreed ..as long as the US cannot import products from any other country - no wood from the Amazon, no petrol from Saudi, no fish from thailand, no low cost Aluminium from India.
Nice work abhi2point0. Thanks for posting this video.
Americans blame Indians, saying they are taking away there jobs. But the real culprit are the corporations. If you want to blame someone, blame them.
Indians want jobs, just like everyone else. If it wasn't them, then it would be the Mexicans or Thai etc. So don't blame Indians. Blame your corporations.
Instead of hating Indians & subjecting them to racism, do something constructive, by trying to stop those companies from outsourcing jobs.

The sad part of the history is that any product that was manufactured in the United States, today's the outsourced version has the same price. Now all companies (including American companies) manufacturer everything in China. Unfortunately Chinese's don't English as well, so the use the Indians for customer service. As a result, we still paying the same price for something that maybe cost cents. Welcome to the United States of Outsourcing. Buy American (if you can find it) Help your economy!
hey why don't u guys who think all the jobs r taken by Indians...come to India......with all these dollars there in India u can live like a king.....life will be much better for u all there cos u will learn how to be happy in whatever u hav and come out of ur dreamy liitle world
It's what many American workers have been thinking and feeling: go back home to your wonderful country and leave us be, we'll be fine without you. I'm sick of greedy corporations firing American workers just to pad their profits a bit more; we all know it has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with bottom line. H1B workers come here and undercut the salary margins we all fought so hard to get in the first place. Time to reverse the trend.
The funniest thing about this video is the attempt to tie 'W' to the evil corporations who outsource our jobs. This all got spun up in the 90's when all you libs were drooling on yourselves about Clinton. Let's all go back to the '80s when we wouldn't think of sending our jobs overseas.
Jobs have been going overseas long before that. Where are the textile and clothing factories in the U.S.? They were outsourced to Asia long ago. Now you've got to offer a service that people need you to be physically present for if you want a "regular" job, or else be amazing with technology. It'll soon be the mega-rich and poor, with the poor in the U.S. having nothing to offer to the rich that they'll want to pay much for.
Worst thing about outsourcing is people with degrees & experience in specialized fields, lose their EXPERTISE overtime and do not grow due their hard earned expertise in the past.
Then they have to sell themselves for a lower price to basically survive in a fields that requires only general skills and, do no require their degree & previous professional skills.
Hey, I was just wondering: is this video scripted (i.e. all the kids are actors too)? Or was it a real talk Jason Alexander held some time in the past?
Someone could transcribe what he says in the video to text?, Since I do not speak much English, but I understand why English writing that the voices in the audio or video, and since I thank you very much. Alfredo Martinez, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Regulations on corporations make them go overseas to avoid complications and less union head aches, less lawsuits, environmental restrictions, etc. Don't protest our government. Protest the governments that don't have these regulations.
I agree with open market ideas, but I think that _strategic_ thinking would help US (I'm not US). It is ok to outsource in the short term, but long-term, the people you are teaching to do your stuff... will do your stuff.
It's enough that the US is losing the powerful position gained after WW2 when everyone was hurt: not the biggest economy, not the greatest military power, movies and music falling out of fashion etc.
Not only hi-tech jobs go to India. In America, more and more Indian IT "mgr" prefer using their folks, using tricky interview screening process to exclude other well qualify professionals. Surprise?
This movie is funny, and it's poignant, and if there are so many jobs in the movies in India, I guess that you wouldn't have any problem with our companies staying home, so we can have some jobs too.
Dear abhi2point0, I assume you are from India. I think that there are many issues related to the outsourcing of jobs, like for instance, that people in other countries have to work for companies that don't really care about their host coutries' well being. In the meantime, instead of giving back to the people that made them great, they stab them in the back.
Everybody must find something to do of value. If you don't have any obvious choices staring you in the face get creative. If all elsa fails relocate, retrain and down size your overhead. Take responsibility for your own future and don't rely on the fallacy of entitlement to keep you warm at night.
Right. Relocate and retrain with money you don't have. I thought people were taking responsibility when they went to college to be computer programmers, medical transcriptionists, and coders. Guess they'll all just have to relocate to India or Pakistan. BTW, can you spot me a few grand? I need to relocate.
They chose to invest in a set of skills that have made many people a good living. Just because they went to school does not mean they have total job security for the rest of their lives. The world changes and those who adapt will succeed that is the rule throughout history. The wealth of opportunities in this country are great and will continue to be great its just a matter of adapting to the new realities of an environment.
People invested in those skills based on reports by the government that those were the job areas to go into because they would be secure. No one has "job security" anywhere and I don't feel any sense of entitlement to my job. I do, however, feel that being good at what I do should provide some job security.
people are responsible for their own choices and that is a good thing .Those studies are simply data used to make choices and not a guarantee of the future. If you are good at a job that is in demand you will have plenty of opportunity. Life is really good now in
America and i just don't see how some people don't recognize it. Your loss.
I don't have a problem with certain types of jobs going overseas. The issue I have is the massive numbers of jobs that are being lost so quickly with no plans to retrain or relocate displaced workers, some who have put in 30+ years with those companies and don't have the resources to relocate or go back to school again. I also have issues with the fact that in several cases, offshore employees have threatened to sell personal medical and financial records of unsuspecting persons in the US.
activity like selling personal records or anything that will hurt consumers or citizens should be brought to light by consumers who have been burned, watch dog organizations, competitors within that same industry and investigated and prosecuted by the government.
There of course needs to be protective measures within a market but typically after the basics the less the better. My point is that all the jobs being lost are going to be replaced with different jobs. Only the individual can choose best what to do in this situation. Centralized planning for large problems like this will only stagnate economic development and hinder the natural flow of our growth.
In the meantime, our trade deficit with other countries has skyrocketed and is expected to increase by 100% by 2010. In my opinion, 100% increase in trade deficit + lack of taxes being paid by displaced American workers = bad things to come for our country.
America now has become so wealthy though that people think they are entitled to so many things that have always been considered luxuries. Very few people in America have much to complain about and yet they do. They bitch about how hard their lives are as they drive around in a car, eating hamburgers, listening to cds. They go home and turn on the heater/AC and watch the T.V or get on the computer. These people have it great by historic or international standards and yet they feel deprived.
Yet, companies are offshoring medical transcription and the quality of the documents coming back has for the most part been atrocious. If those errors aren't caught by the staff here in the US, how many people do you think will die because someone in another country typed the wrong drug name? Is that worth the "savings" that we, by the way, have yet to see?
The fact is the world never stops moving forward and in order for Americans to maintain their relative wealth they need to maintain their high level of marginal utility. Americans should not expect to have guaranteed jobs that could be performed for a fraction of the cost somewhere elsa. We cannot grow comfortable and stop competing and expect the world to stop also. Life is a struggle and will always be one to deny this is unrealistic.
Why is it that "American" cars that are manufactured in Mexico cost just as much as foreign cars that have to be imported to the US? When is the last time the price of anything come down once the mfg/service started being outsourced? The only people benefitting from this are the CEOs.
The car manufacturing question you posed could be answered with a complicated explanation that i am not sure you care to get into. Basically though the US car manufactures have been operating on outdated strategies and have become much less competitive and are losing big money because of it.
You are entitled to your opinion and I will respect that if you do the same. For every bit of proof you can show to back your statements up, I can show you one to back mine up. Until some accurate studies are done by people who aren't on one side of the issue or another, the true facts aren't going to come to light. But thanks for a good discussion without personal attacks! That's hard to come by on the net :)
How does obstructing efficiency and economic evolution benefit us? The changes that the industrial revolution brought about wiped out tons of farming jobs. The country was better off having a more sophistcated workforce who manufactured things instead of growing and harvesting things. Now we are getting ready to make another paradigm shift away form manufacturing. We need to embrace this and retool accordingly.
With those jobs go the taxes that the American employees paid, increasing the deficit and decreasing funding for education programs, social security, and all other programs meant to help the people of our country that our ancestors worked hard to build.
Jobs are lost and created all of the time. This is a natural process and it is what sparks creativity and innovation. The deficit as a percentage of the GDP is actually decreasing. Our ancestors built a country that did not have social security system or the large set of entitlement programs that we no unfortunately have.
As I said before, I don't feel entitled to anything. I don't feel it is our responsibility to be the main financial contributors to another country. Especially in cases where the people of the country look at us with disgust and would like nothing better than to see the US fall.
wat shit r u talking about tell me who Americans are .....r they the tribal native Americans or the'British,French,Dutch etc etc ....I have a long list of immigrants who r called Americans now.....and I know how Britishers looted our country India and now the conclusion is that all the money u Americans have actually belongs to the the Indians of Asia...
Out sourcing most things makes since me. Only a very small number of jobs should really be protected under the banner of national security. Other than those N.S related jobs the markets should be free to play out in deciding were labor is used from. Our economy is moving away from manufacturing and therefore the workforce has to adapt. The fact is different countries have different advantages in the market place.
So, medical and financial records complete with SSNs and other identifying info of everyone in the US should be free game? So much for protecting your identity.
Anyone with half an ounce of brain should know that this 'unfunny' film is just what it was intended to be. Our President and his corporate cronies is selling us all here in the US right down the river. Wake up America!
Indeed. We are selling our souls and giving away good jobs for cheaper trinkets. Maybe when enough people are screwed, not just factory workers and programmers, Americans will start to do something about it and tell the free-trade lobbyists to shove it. Thank You Jason Alexander.
see, it works like this, miss token black girl: jobs go overseas so that big buisiness can pay their workers even less. apparently, the extra wealth that the corporations make will "trickle down" to the consumers.... somehow. or ceos can just make billions in profits, whatever.

These "american" companies should think a bit. If everybody fires their american workers, who is going to have money to buy their products in the US?
On the other hand, if they don't want to sell to americans, why don't they just move to india and stay there?
The truth is that they want american workers, but at slave wages.
