  • More milking in this plot than in The 12 Days of Christmas.

"Your floor, sir" Droopy reference, eh?

  • NOT SURE IF SOMEONE ALREADY MENTIONED IT BUT " DER LÖWE" IS GERMAN FOR "THE LION" GREETINGS FROM GERMANY

  • 01:33 That was from Roger Rabbit, right? Been a long time since I've watched that movie. ;)

  • I sympothize with Heiss. He had to be slayed off in order to save the world? How is that fair to him? Same applies to Ernst. Heiss saved Ernst. I can see the world and ritual as being the antagonist of the game. Heiss is probably a tragic character and Stocke is a mere victim.

  • Those giant crystals are Heiss' patented Wall Crystal™!

  • 5:00 seems to me Stocke WASN'T oblivious about it, but he wasn't sure so he wasn't making any uneducated guesses.

All through the game he's asking questions, but he wasn't gettinh answers, so he never actually went out and said it.

  • 11:46

    Like Mother 1/ Earthbound Zero?

  • 11:07 I think if the music would have kept playing this scene would have been epic and more emotional

  • HCBailly Der Lowe is german and means The Lion.

Fitting name for Rosch's best weapon.

  • @SolidJCP curses I wanted to tell him the translation

  • id love to see a game in wich they actualy have an item called god damn tea xD

  • @PortalFreak1996 I shall make that game...

  • "indeed. I am younger brother to the late king Victor, and the Sacrifice in his ritual." well now we got 3 of the royal family of granorg alive, the siblings Eruca, Ernst and dear uncle Heiss.

  • How are you recording a DS game...? Are you using a studio setup with a handy cam type setup? Your video quality looks flawless and amazing. Good job.

  • @LunarianCrystal He's using an emulator. Desmume.

  • You know, I have my own theory as to why Stoke isn't surprised.

Who knows how many times he's actually gone through this. The player is going through this for the first time, but Stoke himself may be going through it the tenth time, or something.

  • ...huh. Not the plot twist I was expecting. I was kind of expecting "Heiss is future Stocke (who is also Ernst)!"

  • @TrueHitoare I think everyone was expecting that. That would be an extremely cliched plot device, though.

  • @Skavoc

Don't think it would've been any worse than "I am secretly your relative!" XP

  • Me too!

  • 11:46 Is That A Reference to Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia HCBailly ?

  • @11:44 FFX reference, the Hymn of the Fayth...lol

This plot device does remind me of the Summoners sacrifice and Sin returning every 10 years.

  • @RobGreenEyedTiger. yes, but i play dissidia where it's considerably more prominant.

  • You gotta feel bad for Raynie at this point. The journey's ending, and instead of marrying her like he promised, Stocke's decided to make use of a convenient opportunity for suicide. There are some definite commitment issues at this point,

  • 8:31 well how you you launch Air Tornado enemies into the Air?

  • Heiss kind of reminds me of Kefka during his little speech. Wanting to destroy the world as he does. Anyone else think so?

  • @RobGreenEyedTiger Nah, that's kinda the super villain standard, really.

  • More important than how you put cyclones to sleep- how do you even cut one?

  • SILENCE WOMAN! GET BACK IN THE KITCHEN!!! XD

  • I wonder if it matters how old the sacrifice is. If it doesn't matter they could have just sacrificed someone when they reached like 80 years old.

  • I'm so glad there was one more god damn tea reference, I love it. Also, I would guess that Heiss has shown more aging because I would think he's had the chronicle for much longer than Stocke has had the white chronicle, and apparantly has had to use it a lot as well in order to figure out the right history changes to get the results he wanted.

  • This is a jRPG, there will be some way for Stocke to live through the ritual. Either he will get his original soul back (that is Ernst's) or they will figure out a different way to fix it.

  • not remotely surprising (except him being the King's brother, but even that isn't completely surprising, although i admittedly didn't see it coming.)

  • Oops... I meant Standard History...

  • Good God this game sure knows how to milk a plot that's for sure

  • So.... What's important about Alternate History again?

  • @11:45

If I didn't know any bother, I'd say that's a Final Fantasy X reference, but knowing my JRPGs 'singing a song to save the world' is probably a common plot device. :/

  • @aetherstormXII: *Remembers beating Giegue in Mother 1 by singing*

  • @bigjew899 See what I mean? Typical JRPG logic.

  • i caught that reference to ff10 at 11:46 have you been playing it lately? or do you still dislike it

  • @HCBailly Was that a "The Legend of Heroes 3" reference with the singing of a song to save the world?

  • Victor disliked

  • Word of the day: SUFFERANCE

Yes, it's a real word, and no, it doesn't have anything to do with voting rights. (That's suffrage.)

(n.) 1. Patient endurance. 2. Sanction or permission implied by failure to prohibit; tacit consent. [Source: American Heritage Dictionary, 3rd Ed., 1994.]

Examples: HCBailly would show great sufference of J-Pop if he sat through an entire LP episode of The World Ends With You. HCBailly will not suffer a viewer to post "FIRST!" on one of his videos.

  • "So Heiss was the king's brother, Stocke was the prince, and the two of them were Sacrifices..?"

Good job Marco, you just summed up the big secret that the game was built around.

  • I wish the character portraits showed the emotions of the characters during dialogue, I keep imagining that Stocke's kept that face in his portrait for the entire game...makes his character seem a lot different than they're trying to portray.

  • "It's better than singing a song to save the world."

Is that a Tales of the Abyss reference?

  • The tornado is watching you...

  • If Stocke is in his 20s, the signs of aging would be very minimal at best. No need to change sprites over details like that! Or perhaps the Black and White Chronicles work differently in these matters.

  • LOL the tags are awesome

  • Curse your cliffhangers! *shakes fist at screen*

  • Heiss is on the list of "evil" guys in rpgs that i can see Why they hate the world they live in. a few others are "sirius off of dark cloud 2" and.......dam what other evil guys are turned evil be humanity anyone?

  • Because Stocke declared "ALL IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE!!!" before he did cancelling the age effect out.

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that plays during this dungeon?

  • @walkernintendofan Memories of the World

  • @ZealSeraph Thanks a bunch

  • @HCBailly arr you gonna "finish" the vainquer sidequest

  • How has Stocke put the robot's to sleep? Well the robot's May be huge machines full of destruction! But They are run on window's Vista program. So naturally hitting it 1-7 times it just shuts down and the robot's have to reboot.

  • @snowmanland24 LOL should have got the XP program.

  • Nobody sticks their nose in Heiss´ business.

  • Luke, I am your uncle!

  • My only question is if Stocke can go into the past before his soul implementatio- Ah, I'll wait until the ending, they may reveal it there.

But yeah, That was an interesting reveal. Something about Heiss from the very beginning felt like he was a part of Stocke's family. Reminds me of FFIX in a way.

  • Maybe Stocke is that young age that aging year or two doesn't change that much about him.

  • Nice Droopy impression...I'd give it a...6.5/10 And of course, always nice to see a Who Framed Roger Rabbit reference.

  • Is the "singing to save to world" thing a Mother reference?

  • Nice reference to Droopy at around 1:40.

  • Great plot for radiant historia. This is so much easier to understand than final fantasy 12 and 13. I like fantastic plot but here at least you can understand what is going on. I dearly hope that FF versus and agito get a good plot in the future.

  • Finally caught up with this LP. I wasn't sold on it at first but it really draws you in after a relatively short amount of time.

  • All good things come to a end except for HCBailly hes immortal.

  • this plot seems to be ripping off ffX with the whole its unfair that one person every once in a while has to die so that evil can be temporarily defeated and man kind can be safe for a while

  • @jgween1 it wasnt unfair in X because they chose to, in this they are being forced, but it is kinda the same but i much prefer they dealt with it in this game

  • You put a tornado to sleep by knocking the wind out of it, ha ha ha. I know that was bad lol.

  • Well, at least Heiss is more reasonable than most people in JRPGs about why he wants to end the world. Game implies that the world has seen many iterations, and this one seems borked.

This wouldn't be a JRPG unless there were a better solution most likely though.

The other approach is complete insanity, which worked for kefka but really wouldn't fit this game well.

  • Heiss all of a sudden looks like Smeagol when he RELEASED the seal. That stance..

  • they should have made one more bad ending where stocke decides to side with heiss

  • the too much time travel aging thing reminds me of porky from mother 3

  • Ernst was killed and brought back with a piece of Eruca's soul........ soooooo, Stocke is a zombie? :P

  • @Jimbobob5536 Uh, yes, technically.

  • Der Lowe means the lion.

  • So Stocke is.....and Heiss is.....I guess that's ok for a plot's big revile. I'm surprised Stocked took to the news so well.

  • Countdown to Extinction

  • I just thought of something. What's to stop a wielder of a chronicle from continuously living in the past? They could warp to a point in the past, and live out their life until they're old. Then they can return to the present, having lived a full life, and sacrifice themselves without remorse. Because you have to die anyway, at least you can choose to die for the greater good

  • @ChimericDragon They explain more about why that wouldn't work for the ritual.

  • @HCBailly thats sort of a good point. In the bad ending where he hooked up with rainy, he stayed with her like 10 years. Yould think someone would have noticed that he instantly looked 10 years older the next time he went to a node lol

  • @Loffter He only stayed with her for a few months, at the most a year. The world would be long dead in 10 years.

  • @HardToFindGoodNames huh... ok. I Thought it said they had watched the world end together or something, that's why I said 10 year.

  • @ChimericDragon I don't know if repeating history would be considered as living a full life. Of course they could do different things with their lives, but the world around them would just repeat itself. A life where you constantly know what's going to happen would be a rather boring one.

  • @ZealSeraph If I was in that position, I would move to a different location with each repetition of history. That way, the people around me and my immediate environment would be different each time (except for global events, that affect me where ever I go) It'll add some spice to life. But I admit, that kind of life sounds lonely, and may not be for everyone. I guess according to HCB, my idea wouldn't work anyway.

  • @ChimericDragon Indeed. It wouldn't, if your ultimate goal would be to become a sacrifice, instead of escaping your fate.

Also, much like with immortality, there's the fact that nothing in your life would be permanent. You make friends, but you couldn't keep them. They'd be gone and never even remember who you are the moment you warp back in time. Not to mention you yourself would still age, while people around you would remain the same, no matter where you'd go.

  • @ZealSeraph I don't see it as escaping your fate, like what Heiss was doing. I saw it as using the chronicles to give yourself a chance at living a full life before sacrificing it. To make the situation less sad and unfair. Its not the perfect solution, because who would want to live such a lonely and temporary life. But I see it as a sort of hospice type solution or a band aid.

  • Der Lowe is German for "the Lion" except it is spelled wrong... it is really spelled Löwe.

  • GOD, there cliffhangers xD

  • Well i'm from Germany :)

My guess would be its German für "Der Löwe".

So translated it would be -> "The Lion" :)

  • I'm suprised that the developers used German so often, usually you don't see something German at all in games

  • @Feuermaehne

I guess that you dont play japanese games that often because they love to name things in german.

  • @Sashgo True, true, very true indeed.

I only play games for the PC, so the number of prominent Japanese games is rather limited, but thanks for pointing my mistake out.

  • The Imperial Ruins music reminds me of something out of Kingdom Hearts for some reason.

  • @Howson95 Well, Yoko Shimomura, the composer for the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack, also composed this one, so that's probably why it sounds similar.

  • My theory as to why Heiss looks like he's aged so much more as opposed to Stocke is that he's been using the Black Chronicle for A LOOONG time, as he would see it. To him, it's been like 30 or 40 years as since he's gone back and relived through the many different histories. I'd imagine Stocke's only been through about one or two years tops with the White Chronicle, and can someone REALLY look too different after a couple of years?

  • I like milk

  • Thankfully Stocke did not inherit the nose.

  • Ha ha. Oh HCBailly, you and your tags.

  • I think the Item "Der Lowe" could be german. English doesn't have the letter "ö" (oe), so they used o instead. "Der Lowe" means "The Lino" in english. I hope it is german...

  • @Sinistryx The Lion.... i just can't type =/

  • @Sinistryx Most likely is German, since it does means 'The Lion'. :) It's what my ex and I called our cat.

  • @LadyAryun Well, I am german^^ I just figured :)

But it's funny how many german words, e.g. "Freikugel" are in the game - doesn't seem to happen quite often.

  • @Sinistryx :) Sadly, I've no claim to being full German, but I've always loved the language. I've seen it in a lot texts (in English, ironically) incorrectly spelled without the umlaut over the 'o' so considering that Rosch is called a 'Young Lion', I made the extrapolation that yes, it does mean Lion. Rather interesting, that. :) Sometimes, not often that full German words are used. I think this one is the most I've seen in ages. Spelled without using the umlaut, wouldn't it be 'Loewe'?

  • I thought there would be a bad ending about Stocke agreeing with Heiss xD

  • DAMNIT!!!! You and your EVIL cliffhangers!

  • I like how Heiss' statement about Raynie and Marco being competent, but not TOO competent turns out to be true, in hindsight. In the later half of the game, they were just in the background while all the other party members and npcs did the important stuff. In terms of battle mechanics, Aht and Eruca had better magic/healing, Rosch and Gafka had better physical offense. I felt bad for Raynie and Marco, because of Heiss' manipulations. Its details like those that makes RH awesome.

  • @ChimericDragon I wonder if Heiss knew Marco would become too competent in his bad ending.

  • @LPMHRGDPL oh wow, he's actually making another final fantasy IV? Cool!!!

Glad to see he changed his mind on XII as well. He must have gotten quite a bit of requests for that one.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 afterwards? I hope so.

    @HCBaily keep'em comming, I'll be posted!

  • Der Löwe is german and means The Lion

  • Wow! This game is actually giving us answers! What a concept to think that the player/watcher of this LP might actually want to know what's going on!

  • Weee a Droopy Dog reference. ^_^

  • What besides Seiken Densetsu 3 is next?

    Looking forward to it.

  • @LeeZard27 Final Fantasies IV then XII are his next main LPs.

  • "How do you put a tornado to sleep?"

    Very. Carefully.

  • HCBailly, you made this game addictive!

I'm looking into buying it first chance I get.

Thanks again for a great LP!

  • epic cliffhanger is epic

  • If the title is a reference to what I think it is I watched those two episodes the other day.

  • you have to think just HOW long heiss has had the black chronicle, how many years of going back and forward, repeating things, going through bad ending until he reached the level of precision he has now. Stocke has had it for a relatively short time

  • what is the music for this area called

  • Stocke right now is only going through 1 repetition ofthe history. Heiss probably did it hundreds of times. It's like you played the game once and he did it a hundred times. That's why he is so old. And even if Stocke aged a year or 2 it wouldn't be that visible.

  • Is it just me or does Rosch's face on the equipment screen look like Dr Zaius from Planet of The Apes.

  • Der Lowe or more precisley Der Löwe means the lion.Fitting for Rosch dont you think?

  • @Mustafa3171995 mhm yep.

  • You always manage to dangle a carrot in front of our noses, HCBailly

  • I was totally expecting Heiss to be Stocke. This was a pleasant surprise!

  • Before this episode: the storys ok..

    Now: (brain exploded)

  • i thought heiss was stocke from the future

  • @makosful96 me 2 lol

  • haha i knew Heiss was king Victors brother i worked that out cause i was thinking how he could be like Stocke and i settled at that, because i thought that Stocke was probably going to be a sacrifice after he said he was saving Stocke from dying, and that was why Heiss killed king Victor so he wouldn't be a sacrifice.

  • The thing about being as young as he is, aging Stocke a year is virtually inconsequential as far as his appearance goes. It's unclear how long Heiss has had the Black Chronicle, as well as how often he used it, but judging by his speech, he must have used it a ton, probably aging a decade or two. Also, the frustration and anger from trying to manipulate a scenario (and not succeeding a lot), has probably caused him to look even older than his time advanced age.

    Or something like that.

  • problem i see within the plot, heiss wants to die by desert and not by sacrifice..... whats the point

i mean your gonna die anyway so why not help your freinds out by saving the world for while?

  • @mikesa31 Same reason Kuja did it; if you're going out, might as well take the rest of this shitty world with you.

  • :) lay off my Hymn of the Fayth... :p

  • mind = blown. but seriously this is one of the best plots i've ever seen in an rpg, despite minor plotholes, and i've played a lot of rpgs.

  • The weapon for Rosch is German again ... It is actually written Der Löwe and means "the lion" pretty fitting for the young lion of Alistel

  • der lowe --> der Löwe-->The Lion, German.

  • um is there no final chapter for other timeline?

  • @mikesa31 He's doing a 100% run and hasn't taught Aht her final skill yet, which he usually does on travel nodes. ;)

  • it may be the end but we have final fantasy 4 to look for

  • der löwe? they like german words, dont they^^

  • YESSSS

  • Power rangers reference in title ;)

  • Right on time :)
