he talks after the lifting on most of his videos and its usually very relevant information but if you dont want to learn anything simply move on after hes done with the lift
Great lift Tuan!!! Check out my vids from a meet I just competed in. I don't think my bench is quite as strong as yours haha (345), but I had a 600 squat and 605 deadlift. I love your vids man, keep em comin
@jkiller0094 i did the 5x5 program add weight each day you squat until you can't do 5 sets of 5 reps then make your goal to do it. Once you make it then add weight again. Worked for me have put 90 pounds on my squat in about 2 1/2 months doing it 2 or 3 times a week along with lunges and all that
@wookieeassassin you would be amazed how many peoople as me about everthing you just said I do not need to talk about. Why do you think I make the videos the way I make them. Its called getting feedback from your audience. I have made note of what you have to say, but you are not the majority. So if you do not like the videos, just do not watch
@roughneckasian don't listen to that jackass wookieeassassin. Your vids are great! And the fact that you talk in them shows you have a functional brain. It also shows you know how to articulate unlike some of these idiot weight lifts on YT that just act like douches by giving cocky facial expressions to the camera without one useful thing to say after wards. You a beast and a smart guy on top of that. Power to ya!
man how do you get parallel i am about 30 degrees from parallel when my heels start coming off the ground, this is with no weights i cant even squat the bar because i cant get low enough and lose my balance, but i can go all the way down when doing leg press and i can do over a 300 pound leg press
@VikingStrong Haha Vegard, that's what the PRO's do. It's only Maniacs like you that go to failure for reps on the bench press the week before a meet. ;)
Squats & Knees. Squatting deep is bad for your knees. Thats a myth youll hear a lot.
Some will advise you to do Partial Squats, staying above parallel, to avoid knee injury. This is wrong info. WRONG!
Your knee joint is strongest in a fully flexed or full extended position, not the positions in-between. Partial Squats only strengthen your knees & quads, not your glutes & hamstrings. This causes muscle imbalances & thus injuries.
@roughneckasian @guitarded401 Actually, ham deveopment - proper ham development will not be proprtional to quad development through squats alone - that's another myth.
By most studies that I have read, the squat actually is the king movement for muscle building. The stress of the squat activates more muscle groups that any other exercises and must be controlled in both the concentric and ecentric phases of the movement.
But reguadless of the studies, squats have help greatly to build muscle on my frame. Hope this answers your question
Much respect, you truly have become a new inspiration for me. Also, I have seen that camouflage shirt before you wearing, what brand is it if you dont mind my asking as I have been looking for it after seeing it somewhere else on online.
Good luck Tuan. I'm sure you'll do great. Now I'm off to the chiropractor because I think ruptured a disc merely watching how much you lift. Warn me next time. As always, you are the man.
Hey I was wondering what is your opinion on ATG squats - full ROM - beyond parallel? Some say to do them others say it risks injury - what do you suggest for guy whos like 160 lbs at 5'10 - just getting into lifting.
cant really say. it depends on your somato type. also, if you never reach parrallel with the hips, you are braking at the knees, which would make it a knee dominated movement. one must learn to break for the hips to make into a hip dominated movement. once the hips are involved, so is your glute
Tuan is the real deal, he has been transforming me for the past 3 years. I competed naturally at 161 lbs. in 2007, 167 lbs. in 2008, 173 lbs. in 2009. I am going to bulk until Jan. 2011 and then try and compete at around 190 lbs. Tuan will get me there, and he can get you there as long as you follow everything he says.
It always makes makes me happy to see a new video of yours to grace my subscription box ^^. One of my most favourite Subs. for sure :)
You're an amazing athlete, determined and focused! I'd love to be able to train with a guy like you, I've hardly been able to start on my own :\. You're looking in great shape, I wish all the best for your upcoming meet.
Keep up the good work, Tuan! Maybe one day I'll have some Before & After shots to thank you for ;) Haha
my goodness thats a heavy load, i dont blame you for having someone behind you, and your yelling certainly shows how heavy it was, good for your dedication, cheers mate and stay fit.
Your vids are starting to affect my ego for the worse. I feel almost wimpish now after watching that shit as I struggle to get out 10 proper squats with just 180 on the 'bell. Mad respects Hoss.
I don't care what no one says but Tuan you are one gorgeous man and you do a great job in building your body and staying fit and that takes a lot of determination and strive. Keep up the good work because it's paying off big time!!!!! :-)
In order to have an effective bench, the triceps have to have good strength. Once one learns how to bench press for maximum efficiency, the tris naturally grow. Just look at anyone who can bench twice their weight. Too many individuals bench not getting enough activation out of their triceps and overload their shoulders.
Impressive strength. Especially considering what your weight is. Awesome work man.
My only complaint would be that the second rep was a tad bit high. The first rep was fine as it went to parallel. Below parallel would be preferable, but parallel is still good. However, the second rep was a tad bit high.
Still though, you are putting up some serious weight for your size. Impressive job once again.
if it was up to me, I would not have done the sec. rep, but my program wants me too. its tough going week in and week out having to get to these high percentages, and 95% is just brutal for 2 reps, especially trying to go deep for 2. like I say, if I would have got more air, the 2nd one may have been better. just glad its just singles from here on out. thanks for the comment
No problem man. I have always considered you one of my fitness inspirations. I like the fact that you are extremely strong and manage to keep your weight under 200 pounds. I would rather be lean and strong as possible, then bulky. Your videos show that guys under 200 pounds, have the ability to be strong.

Is it also true that you dont lockout fully while using leg extension machines? Because it puts too much stress on your joints?
