  • little fun fact you know Presidents favorite song was Dixie,One point later in the war he was on a steamer in the Potomac river with a guest from Germany and Lincoln asked him if he had ever heard Dixie the man shook his head so Lincoln replied "the tunes federal property now so I see no reason why the people cant enjoy it again",and then ordered the band to play the song

  • I love Dixie's version ! Amazing job !

  • You should do a lesson video of Rebel Soldier. I can't find the tabs anywhere.

  • Were I was born one frosted morning, Dixie, Lookout Mountain Tennessee.

How could this song ever be politically incorrect? If it is I don't want to live in the Union.

  • Beautiful...

  • Is there an mp3 of his version of 'Rebel Soldier'? It is a cracking tune, great upload

  • I would suggest downloading the video from here using one of the easy (and free for first 20 days) programs like YouTube Download Studio

  • Please someone post his version of "I Have Seen the Highlands" or ("I Hae Seen the Highlands"?)

  • There's only certain gigs where Charlie wants the video camera and so far he hasn't done Highlands at any of them! I'll keep it in mind and request it soon ; -)

  • These Were both amazing, 10 times better than any other example of the songs when you try to find them on youtube. THis guy is awesome

  • I love coming to my account and bringing up DIXIE.... enough to make an old US Marine from Georgia feel mighty fine about the world again.

  • Great job my friend, great job.

  • This was great. "Dixie" is my favorite song and this was a splendid rendition, and "Rebel Soldier" was poignant as well. Five stars-plus. Thanks for sharing.

Dixie would have sounded AMAZING with a banjo playing with him.

  • i give it a 5 out of 5. very good!

  • NIce

  • Beautiful, just beautiful

  • Thank you for posting.

  • This guy is amazing! The beginning of the song sounds like "Jolene" by Dolly Parton and I love it!

  • This is called the "folk process" used a lot by writers like Woody Guthrie who take traditional tunes (or bits and pieces of them) and add their own words...

  • He is awesome!!!

  • You can only make good songs if ur heart is furfilled with emotions.

Thats actually THE secret of really great songs, think about tears in heaven for example.

  • this lad has a gift from god........

  • Beautiful and wonderful. Always takes a boy from the south back home when he hears Dixie.

  • Best rendition of Dixieland I have ever heard- unbelievable!

  • GOD bless my home and my State and the south!

  • Really really good!

  • Wonderful performance! And truely so, because I do wish I was in Dixie way back in history.

  • awesome rebel soldier is such a touching song

  • And God bless you sir!

  • outstanding

  • I absolutely adore you singing "Dixie Land". I have never heard it done like that before, and its amazing considering I used to reenact.

  • great

  • great work

  • it's great!!!

  • your GREAT CHARLIE

  • The costume is awsome! Where did you get it? Actually I was thinking about singing this song in Japan, at Ehime University, next week. Some people told me to think about it, that many American teachers working from northern states working here may not like the idea... but you just gave me the resolve I needed. Thank you so very much! ^^

  • CZ has his costumes made for him by a reinacting specalist... it's design is based on the uniform of a Zahm relative ...

  • i love it~!

  • Great singer :) hail to Ireland

  • Blue Grass is basicaly Celtic Music. if u play Blue Grass in Irland they will sometimes mistake it for their own. also Country was influnced by Celtic music and other influences.

  • He is talented and growing on me!

  • One can hear the Irish influence. The singer has a superb voice what is his name?

  • Normally I'm not a fan of the original lyrics, but that was damn beautiful... Rivals the "Everybody's Dixie" lyrics...

By the way, I re-enact both sides. Any Washington State reenactors, give me a shout.

  • woohoo

  • Great to see these old historic songs from the civil war brought to life in the present day! If I ever make it to the usa from northern ireland, I am definitely planning to visit all the sites.

  • Long live the south!

  • please pm me and tell me if he has a album for sale great job

  • i think of my great great great grand farther Corporal George Washington Clary of the 73rd Virginia. i know i don't know him personally but my family always talks about him. he was also a survivor of a yankee prison camp in Point Lookout Maryland. hell i even have his musket he used.

  • Amen

  • This reply may be irrelevant now bond because of the amount of time, but name of the tune is " Dixie ".

  • Great song and beautiful voice, make me wish to know more about Dixie history.

  • Dixie is a highley addictive tune. Once you hear it, it is hard to get out of your head.

  • Excellent playing and Singing! If you are ever in New York State in May you are invited to sing & play at our Living History Days at check us our at pickettsgeneralstorecom

    Nice Visit with y'all!

    Thank!

  • Love Dixie!!! Awesome performance.

  • Too bad he's a yankee. Good job though

  • Well, he's from Florida but living in Pennsylvania. Florida is definitely Southern ; -)

  • Keeping the classics alive and relevant. Top work.

  • Great voice especially on a great subject. The American Civil War was a making of a great Nation.

  • Dixie is a highly infectious tune, about as much as "Stars and Stripes Fovever".

  • I'm a total yankee, but in history a few days ago my teacher sang "Dixie" and it really got me. My mom rented Gone With the Wind for me and I've barely stopped singing "dixie" all this weekend. I never looked at the civil war from the south's viewpoint before and its incredibly eye opening.

  • how can i get a recording of this. ive checked his website already.

  • Charlie recorded Dixie on his Americana album. He is making a live DVD / CD on February 13th but that won't be available for months and Rebel Soldier may not be included; it's not one of his more popular songs up North! Dixie always gets a great reception at Zahm shows. His wonderful version is on the 2002 "Americana" album; it's paired with a different song called "Sweet Sunny South" there.

  • Wow you are good! Thanks for the knowledge as well

  • i've been watching this guy for time and he's real good, apart from the outfits.
