  • ELOらしからぬ分かり易いシンプルロック

  • Best pop composer ,arranger & producer ever!. Jeff is so damn awesome!!

Wish he would share more of his great creations w/ the world....1 album per decade is not enough ....Come on Mr. Lynne, your remarkable gifts are meant to be shared

  • This song is so hard rock crunchy! Nasty! Jeff Lynne hasn't written a song like this since Poker back on Face the Music. Best guitar work since that song as well.

  • @SVB2002 Jeff's playing the bass on this song too. That bass riff just before Jeff sings "Made a lotta money - I was makin' quite a mess..." is sa-WEET!

  • Jeff Lynne does POP,ROCK and SOUL.......<3

  • This song ROCKS!! Man, I want it on MP3 now!

  • Reminds me of Queens ,We will rock you ,

  • @norwind Yeah, it does a bit, don't it? Hmmm

  • First time hearing this song... I think I like it.

  • Kinda reminds me of World Party. Jeff's vocalizing remind me of that band.

  • This is the most autobiographical Jeff Lynn song I've ever heard. Good song.

  • ¡Excelente tema!

    Excellent tune!

  • I had to obtain the Japanese copy of Zoom on import, played LBR first and was immediately struck that it had to be the album's OPENING track, followed by Alright etc. Sorry Jeff, but this was another missed opportunity - management interference again perhaps? Why not include it on the new album along with Hello My Old Friend and show two fingers to the suits?

  • @halfmoon58 Yes, I can definitely imagine this song being played by hard rock/classic rock stations.

  • I thought he sings, "You're gonna have to take all the trouble in stride." IMO, it makes more sense. No offense.

  • @no1elofaniknow None taken, I see what you mean, but I actually got the lyrics from the Zoom liner notes and checked them over, so they should be right as they are shown.

  • @laineycrusoe You must have the Japanese release of Zoom?

  • @no1elofaniknow Yeah, I have. The Japanese version has an extra set of liner notes - in Japanese, apart from several bits, including this song's lyrics.

  • @laineycrusoe Cool! Can't wait for the Zoom remaster, which is supposed to have Long Black Road as a bonus track.

  • OK, maybe not the LEAD instrument, but prominent nonetheless.

  • Love the bass guitar as the lead instrument! Not to mention the fact that that's Jeff Lynne playing the bass! LOVE IT!

  • once again proves he's the best...they're the best..ever...

  • excellent!!!

  • Kick a@#

  • Good song. I think it was only released in Japan apparently (wtf?!!). Heard a few of the more obscure tracks from the elo back catalogue that are really fantastic. It mystifies why the record companies release so much crap but delete travelling wilburys or J.L. solo records so you can't buy them on CD, as they have done in the past.

  • Great song! Anyone else think that maybe Jeff was listening to Queen's We Will Rock You when he wrote it? The guitar work and riff certainly seem reminiscent of that to me ...

  • What a song!!, thanks for uploading.

  • Jeff Lynne lost his touch about these mighty ELO strigs and about strings.

I wonder which kind of songs he li´ked the best.

  • WoW first time I heard it...AWESOME

  • Love this song... National anthem for many of us.. Especially if you had parents from the "old school".

Work or go to college. End of story...

Fantastic song. Why wouldn't it be..it's Mr. Jeff Lynne after all...

    Love it! Favored it too...

    Hugs,

    Mel

  • This song is perhaps more "user friendly " than what ultimately ended up on Zoom.

I saw the same thing with Time,Secret Messages and Balance of Power.

The "B Sides" where as strong, and often better than the "A sides"!.

Fantastic song, and perhaps a little autobiographical?.

  • f***ing incredible!

  • nope, no interesting chord changes. sorry.

  • This truly should have been on ZOOM.

Can't wait for Jeff's new solo CD due later this year. Hurry Up, Jeff!!!

  • what an amazing song! I am ELO fan and never heard it. It's amazing.

  • Damn....I wish he had put this on Zoom.

  • they never play this on the radio. Toronto, Canada. Bunch of mainstreamers. Glad there's y-tube so the more obscure gems can be enjoyed.

  • Love it, love it. LOVE IT.

Listen to the piano part... at 1:20

    Very, very interesting.

Refreshing... never heard it on the radio.

My guess is that he is talking about himself...

    Thanks laineycrusoe :)

  • "Jeff's lost his balls." "Jeff's lost his way." To the naysayers I say stick this raw, edgy, hard rock song in your craw and chew.

  • SO TRUE!!!

*I was listening to that song today!*

  • You mean I don't have to go down that road? How do I get off? I know, become a genius like Lynne. The story of my life is Lynne's Bluebird.

  • WHY why why why wasn't this on Zoom in the USA ?! That's better than almost every other song on the album.

  • My sentiments exactly, luckypuppy. If this had been released in the US as a single, it would have been a hit, IMO.

  • holy crap, that rocks! //dan

  • Unbelievably great! Why in the world didn't we get this song here in America! Fantastic song! WoW

  • wow, good job with the little slid show.

  • Simply WOW!

  • No way, man.

This dude's still creating songs when he's under the shower, under arrest, under water, under big sleep, under what ever you want...

  • OMG! I am finding stuff from Jeff i never even knew he did. Shall have to do some surfing on the net.

  • Lucky lucky Japs, never heard this before its good rockin ELO, Jeff doin his stuff as only he can...

Forget the imitations stick with the real thing..

  • This is a great track1 why only the Japs get this?

  • Another great tune I've not heard from the Master himself..... I'm just 'Wishing' there'll be a follow up to ZOOM!!!

  • I heard there were some tracks on the Zoom cd that were not published elsewhere. Thanks for 'The Long Black Road."

  • That's the truth of fame.
