Fake, these are "water gems" from the craft store, I just bought some today and have been playing with them since. I got clear ones and blue ones. My boyfriend has been laughing at me since I hydrated the blue ones, saying I'm very skilled at making blue balls >.>

This is the greatest scam video ever. The 'water balls' are actually glass marbles in cooking oil, which share the same refractive index.

It's a great way to waste an hour or so of someone's time and about $5 in baking ingredients, though.
