Jerry Casale has always been the spokesman for the group and the one behind most of the overarching strategies and "philosophy." Mark is the reluctant frontman who brought artistic sensibilities and silliness to it. They complement each other.
One of the all time great rock groups...period! Fantastic satirical take on the Reagan era, based on very real and observable things at the time they made their best music (1978-82). The world needs more groups that have the balls to make the music that's takes the piss out of the conservative, military, propaganda-spewing pseudo-religious clap-trap we see all around us. Great and important music! Thanks for posting.
They shouldve dressed in the bio-suits instead of regular clothes. They look like old guys on leave from a retirement home. Regardless, They still rock!!
They're fully aware they look like old guys from a home. What could be more DEVO than that? The modern world has no use for DEVO. Today's world revolves around the likes of Paris "Soo Bawls" Hilton, and American Idol is faithfully watched every week by an ocean of huboons who make Booji Boy look like Albert Einstein.
But every now and then I hear from a young kid who is just now hearing DEVO for the first time, and they GET IT, and it's all fresh and new for them.
"who's my baby daddy * I'm the baddest ape because I have the most bling and make the most noise * Turn on, tune in and drop out-with my Ipod, my cell phone, my pc. * It's all about me"
It's just COOL to bitch about the Republicans and the war. Jerry is stuck in his 1970's "fight the establishment" mind set.
I have been Devo since 77.
Now go run up your credit cards somewhere and get the hook.

less freedom? that's a good question. As Americans, (I'm Australian- which is pretty much the same) we have inherited the world through "globalism", so I think we have more power. Fair comment!
I'm so proud to have been following Devo since 1982 when Oh No It's Devo! came to my hands. I sort of understood them then, but for the part or their art an early teen did not grasp they supplied with the snappiest, most creative new wave.

Hard for them to be a response to the Reagan era since their first 3 albums came out before he was president. Nice liberal revisionist history.

How unhappy do the other guys looking wearing those energy domes? The old tunes were fun, but the schtick is getting old.

His BS? His band's art/theory that he created and has promoted for the past 4 decades?

God bless them for taking the time to bring their music to the world again - they will always rock and be better than 8/10s of the bands out there.
(Yes, 8/10ths, exactly).
