The legacy and goodwill of this show is strong. Mandy Patinkin and Thomas Gibson star(red) on "Criminal Minds"'; Mark Harmon, Lauren Holly and Rocky Carroll star(red) on "NCIS" and Adam Arkin does ads for Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

And does anyone have the episode where they did a commercial that turned into a goof on the "ER" opening titles(complete with Hector Elizondo doing Eriq La Salle's karate move)?

Adam Arkin is the Knock off George Clooney for this show and this show was CBS's version of ER but never really caught on much than ER. Sorry to be honest . I admire the efforts of David E. Kelley though.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Chicago Hope and E.R started the same year so there was little chance that CH was using Adam to be the Clooney equivilant, and also Clooney wasn't hardly even known before ER (unless you count Booker on "Roseanne") Adam was around quite a while, as was his father Alan, so more like they used George to take on Adam. Yes ER was more popular and CH didn't make it but not fair to compare George and Adam except for coincidence of appearence.

Sorry to be blunt about my words about Adam Arkin .. yes  they had similarities in appearance but here is a funny thing Adam's Father "Alan" Arkin was almost Casted in "Oceans Eleven" as Saul Bloom which that role went to Carl Reiner . I am sorry to knock Adam Arkin he was an attractive guy but now he's as old as my Dad he's 52. But sadly Chicago Hope didn't really Catch On when he ER Reign supreme.

@OnyxtheDrummer yes both shows started the same time - i always preferred CH to ER - i thought CH had more humanity and humour with more interesting and eccentric characters. not to mention david kelley's excellent writing - david kelley is one of the best gifts to television for a long time

Actually he didn't join till 1996 but it was a great scene. He cut down a tree and it landed right on Phillip's car!
