  • great video :) very clear explanation Vielen Dank

  • Thank you so much, the best tip I found so far...

  • The most useful German pronunciation activity I have come across yet, many thanks!

  • Thank you, it's helping.

  • Kind of awkward but so helpful! Vienlen Danke!

  • danke, thx, merci

  • OMG, i can’t believe i made it!!! it's really helpful, danke!!

  • I finally made the sound! :D

  • @infernalphast9 There is a long ö sound which I talked about in this video. A word with this sound is Öl [ø:l]. There is also another ö sound which is short and more open, for example in the word öffnen [ˈœfnən]. There will also be a training online about this sound in a few days.

  • very helpful. thank you

  • You are a very good teacher and a pretty one too! I have been having troubles with pronouncing ö for awhile but I have it now.

    Thanks!

  • Oh my God! I think I got it! Thank you so much, this was incredibly helpful!

  • Sorry, there is no ö in dutch, as you say.

  • @flaxious What about keuken [ˈkø:kən]? You do not write the ö as the letter but the sound is the same.

  • @easyonlinegerman Yes, the sound is the same :-)

  • Thank you! I just bought a Bösendorfer and this video is extremely helpful.

  • This video is very helpful thank you so much !

  • It is really an excellent explanation. Thank you for your helpful advice.

  • Thanks!

  • Thank you!

  • As I said on the video for ü, I found this quite helpful, thank you. I was always trying to do ö with more of an i+o sound instead of e+o; the way you explained it works much better. Thanks again!

  • Wow.

Finally I can pronounce the Umlaut!

You are Really good, and you have charisma.

    Very informative.

    Tschüss!

  • I've just read this, thank u! And let me congratulate you for being so attentive for answering this so fast. I realise u've got a sweet british accent also, cause i've a spanish-speaking. Thanks a lot!

  • This video is really helpful! But i've got a doubt... I don't find easy to distinguish the ü sound from this one.. I don't know if u have a tip. Herzlich danke!

  • @corp127 The main thing is that you know the difference between o and u because the ö is o with lifted tongue and the ü is u with lifted tongue. I recommend you to watch my video about the German u. Stop at 4:35. This is when I explain the difference between the close vowel u and the close-mid (or half-close) vowel o.

  • @corp127 The German u is a very narrow sound. If you already succeed in saying u correctly, you just have to open your mouth a little more. However, your lips have to stay protruded. The o is not far away from the u sound. It is just a little more open.

  • Thank you for posting this video. It helped me to pronounce ö correctly.

  • thanks a lot! I´ve had a lot of problems trying to pronnunce the Umlaut, lets see what happens in my next german class ;)

    Tschüss!

  • It works...just needs more practice..simple and effective, Thank you :)

  • extremely helpful, thanks sooo much!

  • nice video, quite helpful, thanks!

  • I've already checked this sound on your site, but having a video showing how everything should work makes it all better. Thanks!
