there is alot of bach influence here ... in the verse sections i will call them....the contrapuntal lines and the structure of his harmonies.. personally i think this is the best i've ever seen rudess play., i dont think this was improvised.

You guys should try listening to some of Mozart's orchestral masses. Listen to "Coronation Mass in C". Has some of the same melismatic phrasing that Rudess is using in this inspiring piece. In fact, you would probably appreciate a lot of Mozart Symphonies and concerti that use the same type of scales an haromonies heard here. Check out Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Prague Symphony, Symphony No. 40 in G min., Try 'em out!

@ironwolg ok, let's just say that Rudess is trying to play barroque but to say he is trying to play in Bach style is a bit of stretch of the imagination. I dont even compare it to barroque since the comparison is to easy to be made: some contrapuntal voices...BUT thats not the esence of baroque. He sounds more like Enya...and I am not the only one who made the comparison.

Check out some of the other Rudess videos like this one.

You can see that as the shape of his mouth changes, the ENV and LFO of the waves change.

Basically, they edit the type of sound from the board.

I am an average keyboardist, I believe, and I must admit that when I play the keyboard for improvisational purpose, it always turns out a lot better than when I actually put a lot of work into my compositions and make them really, really complex. I believe it's something about the magic of improvisation than anyone can do.

But Jordan Rudess is something really special. Talented and gifted for sure, so I have nothing to say that could ever put myself up against him.
