LOL @exslang02 that's pretty funny that you're saying the r1 will beat the 954 when the 954 is DESTROYING the r1 in the video. Maybe you didn't know, but horsepower doesn't really mean anything. A 250cc will beat a 1000cc bike around some tracks EASILY ! There're many many many many more factors that go into who's going to win a race even in a straightaway ! For example power to weight ratio ! Btw the r1 is one of my favorite bikes ... so i'm not bias towards the cbr at all.
lol 140lbs is wayyy toooo light hahaha i have a 2006 r1 -2 front sprocket and if i sit reaallly close to the tank it will not jump up with gaz im 220lbs
Lmao! That's why I will never buy a yamaha! Because then I'll become a Lil b-tch like all the R1 owners here!. There supper butt hurt that they saw ther bike lost! Cry stover built a bridge n get over it.. I'm in cali and I've smoked gsx-r yamahas n kawis , so hush!.
I own both and i prefer the 954rr its more fun and has a lot of torque (Plus its much more practical i regularly fit my lunch in the "trunk" of the Honda the R1 only has room for its power commander). The Yamaha is more stable and smooth at higher speeds. 954 will destroy the R1 0 to 100 but the reverse is true 100 to whatever the Yamaha wins it.
after riding both i would rather own a 954rr.. stock the r1 is a lil faster but when you open a 954 up with exhaust and fuel mapping its one hell of a ride
I had that model R1, it was absolutely gutless below 8-9k rpm, so i geared it , this improved it , but its still a very top endy' motor, i then bought a new 08 R1..this was slightly better..but this too got geared, -1 off the front..
One of the best motors ive ever ridden??? my mates K4 gixxer thou..what a motor in those, turbine smooth with masses of grunt off the bottom...
Saying that, i'm quite warming to one of these blades...
@maxspeed06 What he is saying is that he can't keep the front wheel on the ground. We actually raced several times, this is the only one we caught on video. When he did keep the front end down I beat him by 4 lengths. On this paticular run I beat him by much more than that because he had to get off a bit at the start to control the wheelie.
wowow chill out doodes, i have seen with my own eyes a 954 with a very large sprocket (not sure the size) and nothing else beat multiple busas up to about 120-130. it really doesnt take much. but also my 04 r1 has the same mods except my exhaust is carbon fiber (really no difference) and my airbox isnt gutted, and i can guarantee you my bike can beat a stock busa
@Naughty540 05 R1 about 155 Rear wheel Horsepower vs 02 Cbr 954RR about 139 Rear wheel horsepower, wanna explain how the 954 can beat an R1? stupid azz moron knows nothing about bikes, the R1 would shiiit all over that 954rr
@exslang02 your an idiot dyno numbers mean nothing on the street period. i ride an 02 tl1000r and can run side by side with my buddies 08 cbr1000rr just because of the simple fact i can control my bike a little better than him and can smack her wide open from the jump which he can not. if u know shit about bikes u should know on paper his bike kills mine in every aspect wieght power torque suspension EVERYTHING. its 80% rider 10%bike 10% luck
did any of you fuckheads ride a 954 before yes it will beat a r1 it is way lighter with almost the same hp a 954 is insane if it is done right no matter whos on it im a huge fan of both bikes but the 954 will give to a r1 until 07 models
I have a 2002 954rr and I can tell you, when I ride with friends we are all neck to neck. But from a red light I uaually end up in the front of the line and we all ride 750's and up
Good thing I raced 125 & 250GP for from 91-94, that way I can still retain your respect. Besides, this video is a comparo of bike performance not rider skill. I agree with you that the skill levels required are much much less, but not any idiot. My bike for example takes considerable skill to keep the front end on the ground until 3rd gear, it's a balance of throttle and rear brake to keep the bike within 6" of the floor. Very few people can run mid 9s without extensions or straps.
@ImEasyAs On most bikes the front end comes up in a smooth motion, on 954s with some power the front end comes up in such a way that you can't stop the wheelie by getting off the gas. Remember, this bike does clutchless wheelies with 1/2 throttle at 5000 rpm. The rear brake works smoother without getting completely off the gas.
I own a 03 954RR myself....Funny how everyone thinks these new bikes will outrun them...not true though. The R1 may get it by a few mph in the top end if you are running 180 mph but from take off till that point the 954's are hard to catch!! TuscaniGTSC2 is right!!!
AMRENNSPORTS blow me b%tch stop jacking off to your sport rider magazine fkin NEWBIE you type like someone who's never even been on a bike before fkin 954 beating an R1 are you a fkin idiot or you just pretending to be like one, you're not the sharpest pencil in the box are you, racing a 954rr against an r1 is an insult to an R1 go bring me a real challenge like a busa b*tch!
@exslang02 I see you get offended easily. Would you like me to post some videos of me beating busas. Read the rest of the comments, my bike is very well known down here for beating busas. Newbie...lol... that's funny, my first bike was a '94 ZX7R that I bought BRAND-NEW in late 93. Do yourself a favor, hit the track and stop running your mouth.
@AMRennsports Please do not present intelligent arguments that are based in reality, when speaking to exslang02. You'll only confuse him, which makes him angry.
a 954rr doesn't stand a chance in hell against an r1 the only way the r1 got beat was because the r1 rider is a pansy who belongs like the rest of you gullible morons riding tricycles. not even a modified 954rr can beat a stock 05 r1 the different between a 954 (turtle) against an r1 (cheetah) idiots
@exslang02 Your ignorance is comical. I'd challenge you to a race if you lived near me; that would show you who is gullible. You'd feel so stupid. How do I know? Because I've seen it dozens of times against R1 riders. Oh, and by the way, my bike is a lot faster now than when I took this video. I now run low 9s@157 all motor, no bottle now or ever. Call me when you can touch that.
Well I own a 02 954 and an 07 R1 and I would have to say this is pretty accurate. Its a shame the R1 is such a dog off the line with stock sprockets but damn does it get pissed in the upper RPMs. The 954 is a damn retarted torque monster which kills on the whole shot.
@MilanM85 ... there is no 'better' bike. they all have their ups and downs. what ever the rider is comfortable with is the better bike. 954 looks way cooler tho imo.
well i know off the line and accelerating at slower speeds to high speeds R1's arent as quick as the other jap bikes.but 954RR is a badass bike there my favorite of all the fireblades.
My 929 has a pc3 -1 in front with scorpion exhaust and I can keep up with most R1s modded or not. If you know how to ride, it makes a WORLD of difference. From a dead stop, I know FOR SURE I can take an R1 with stock gears.
Sorry to butt in, but I'd like to learn what you've come up with. I usually race from a dead stop. I usually try to enter second around 8k. I don't know when I shift RPM wise into other gears, but I know that I never try to wind it out. I try to shift in the middle of the midrange pull just to get into the next gear. It's worked very well so far. Do you found a better method?
I have a 954 with a Jardine bolt on and a gutted air filter. I'm getting ready to get into suspension settings and probably add a PC3 soon. I'll take any info you're willing to give. So far I've been able to take down almost all of the litre bikes I've raced and stayed lined up with a ZX14 until around 135. I'd like to show superiority with this bike, because I prefer the 954 over the others. Any help would be welcomed.
well no matter the bike, its all about the riders when it comes to anything over 900 cc's anyways. both bikes seemed to have the right mods but the R1 does have an advantage having a lil bigger bite motorwise. My 954rr holds its own on the street. if the rider of the R1 was professional he couldve kept the front wheel down on a rolling take off. it wouldve made a more interesting race.
Actually, I agree... The vid was edited by a friend that ius really good at choosing sounds and cutting clips but honestly we need to get a tank mount.

954 only won because of the -1 front sprocket it makes the gearing shorter and makes a big diff in acceleration

@AMRennsports I highly doubt you'd be using the rear brake when racing in a straight line :D throttle control - YES, Rear Brake - NO :D
out of interest, did the CBR get the jump on the R1? (i.e did that rider have a better reaction time or was it even?
