  • why don't you drop the red and pick it up on your way back?

  • @CandiPinki I carry the red because I want a reversible fabric and because the carried color makes the fabric thicker.

  • i do not like thiss

  • Yes, you flip at the end of every row.

  • I tried both approaches. Definitely can't use my left hand (right hand dominant.) One question I have is; since I am crocheting with my right hand and you flip over and crochet backwards as you would in traditional crochet....do I have to flip over EVERY time when I complete a row? I know....airhead question, lol. Thanks so much for your tutorials :o)

  • @marthatita Unfortunately, most bookstores don't carry my "More Tapestry Crochet" and "Bead & Felted Tapestry Crochet" books because they're self published, but they are available through my tapestry crochet web page or Amazon. Thanks!

  • I can't do squat with my left hand, so I use the other method that's in the book. When I get to the return row, I simply insert the crochet hook from the back of the stitch, yarn over, and pull through. It's very awkward at first, but I managed to get a rhythm going.

The front came out nice and smooth, and the back was the way that it should be.

If you're pants at using your left hand, try using that method.

  • It's quite easy to do it all with just the one hand. When I was trying to work out how to keep the stitches on once side I thought of changing hands but I am so useless with my left hand. So by just observing how you crochet normally and applying your observations while inserting from the back you'll avoid having to teach the other hand and you can get on with it sooner. The biggest hurdle is making sure the yarn is on the approapriate side.

  • this was so helpful! i have been wanting to do a project for my friend for a while but i didn't want to have all the ends to weave in like you have with tunisian crochet. i hate the back looking all messy and this is a perfect solution. i'm sure it will take practice, but thank you so much.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!! for putting up this tutorial. I tried to tapestry crochet a tweety bird design and it kept leaning like you said in your tutorial but I tried to crochet this before I had seen this video. I ended up crocheting a solid afghan and then cross stich tweety bird on. Needless to say this took forever and it doesn't look as clean on the backside as well. Thank you so much again for this tutorial I have been wanting to do another blanket this will be easier and nicer.

    Danielle.

  • @philosgal Yes, as long as you insert your hook from the back when you are going the other way with the back of the stitches facing you.

  • @tapestrycrochet The original question was deleted. It was:

Carol I crochet with my right hand so if I turn my work will it look neat??

  • God bless you thank you for such a great channel.

  • III HAVE Nooo CLUE On how to do LEFT HANDED OMFG!! D:

  • Even after seeing this video? It takes LOTS of practice!

  • I made today but the edge u see the other collor D: cuzz i dont get the left hand

  • The edge color will be covered by a row around the border. Why not try the other way in the video where you turn over the piece and (still using your right hand) push the hook into the loops from the back?

  • Great idea to switch with a left handed friend!

Actually, I couldn't do the left hand but last night developed a way of going back the other way and putting the hook under loops from front to back...same as going back left handed, but holding it with the right hand.

Awkward, but shows that people with only one good hand could possibly go right and left still.

  • The red thread shows a little bit, but the tight stitch hides most of it.

  • How are you able to keep the red thread from showing in the white, when you carry it?

  • @NolaGB The red thread shows a little, but you can't see it at a distance.

  • Thanks for posting this and other videos here. These are really awesome! I've got two of your books and really love this technique.

  • Brilliant Carole.

    I'll link this to blog

    Cheers

    Anu
