@MrBoggerly I am a schoolkid, (not even a teenager yet), but I beleve strongly in the things I was brought up in. How am I a fascist?! Having people from other countries come over has been a godsend: more workers in the factories (well, when there WERE factories), Indian doctors in the 50s etc. I take 'you and your sort' as an offense against my race. (Indian-German/Norwegian) and hope that your obsolete thoughts change in the future

In the 70s there were many nasty council estates dotted around the country, now these are being pulled down/regenerated. I myself celebrate England and its people for providing a safe haven for all. That is "true englishness". And if people want to feel nostalgic, and express themselves, they should not incude potentally hurtful and now uncouth language, irrelevent of its normalness some odd 25 years ago

@VTS1337 a safe haven?! britain is more violent than its ever been before. i live 200 miles from london & i'm well aware of how much the city i live in has changed, some of it for the better, a lot of it not!. the concept of immigration is a tricky one, it has caused social divide, religious tension, a strain on health care & education, enhanced gang culture etc thats all very well for the new arrivals but for the rest of us it has provided us with a hassleful existance & a fading identity

freely. The strain on health care is in the massive long term, and education should not be too much of a problem. I live 116 miles away from London (Norwich) and I am proud of our little city, (although it has places like the Larkman Estate and Heartsease.) I go to one of the socially rougher schools, which is quite diverse, but I do not see the main problems coming from the diversity.

@VTS1337 In the 70s most people didn't emigrate from Britain. They all stood up for each other and protested, like the 60s were thhe time of freedom of speech and morals. Nowadays people from Britain are flocking to different countries because they are sick of the hellhole this great nation has become. This shows the selfishness and cowardness of people today. We could have left our country in shambles in WW2 but we didn't, we fought for our country. Shame people won't do that now.

@edj66 There have been "foreigners" in varying numbers residing in the UK for generations. However, the non white population did not really become noticable until the late 1950`s and then only in relatively small areas of British cities. Today, there is hardly a town or village that does not have a a non white prescence. The first black people many "rural" brits saw, were American GI`s in 1943/44. Facts are facts...and not racist.

@edj66 Lets try to keep the discussion to "modern times". I do acknowledge that Julius and Hadrian almost certainly had black legionnaires among their ranks. But,that was a thousand or so years ago. Immigration is nothing new. However, it is a fact that Britain`s demography has changed dramatically in the last 50 years or so. I am of the opinion that it does matter. There is a downside to immigration,I witness it everyday. Would the veterans of 1939-45 have fought so valiantly for the UK today.
