What messages do we get from our "Bible"? Does it tell us to do absurd things? No. It tells us to stop being scared of the bogeyman and to develop ethics which are not dependent on fear of imaginary beings.
Why should atheists be indifferent to religion? Religion is not benign, it damages people, scares children, causes wars and disengages people from politics by telling them that real life doesn't matter.
No, you can't have it all your own way. We are not going to be silenced any longer.

I consider Dawkins' "rock the boat" approach absurd so yes. Most modern religious conflicts don't arise from the fact that one group disagrees with the beliefs of another, but in that one party becomes intrusive upon another. Now, you tell me how the rock-the-boat approach is any different. Luckily, atheism doesn't have a geopolitical power. Not to imply that any religion of any sort should have geopolitical power either, though.

Don't feel victimized. No one actively tries to silence atheists (with the exception of extremist nutcases like the westboro baptist church). My point is simply that if you take the rock the boat approach, you have, in effect, stooped down to their level.
Religion is only detrimental if people take it for the absolute truth. In most developed countries, people take religion with a bit of agnostic skepticism. The real enemy is extremists.

So religion isn't dangerous as long as you don't take it seriously. But if you do take it seriously it kills people, starts wars, causes hatred and so on. Therefore the enemy is not religious lies it is the intellectual honesty to live by them.

Lying to people, including yourself, about religious certainties is always a bad idea. The faithful praise faith in even those who disagree with them. Faith is the enemy.
