"Now in America we like solutions

    We like solutions to problems

And there’s so many companies that offer solutions

Companies with names like Pet Solution

  • I don't know how I could have gotten so detached as to not have heard this before tonight. Holy crap this is some of her very best work.

  • In my expert opinion, this is a masterpiece.

  • happy birthday laurie, and a big thanks :):):)

  • hey a fun song I like it ....and I am an expert

  • And more captions:

    "

    Principal in the sixties...

Mysteries that usually sell twenty people, elected to do so...

It's articles, deals, and sales, techniques, trying, to, solve problems, after, the president's... it.

    "

  • More fun computer captions (creative license on punctuation):

    "

    Compliments.

If this is one of the sixty percent of the U.S. population...

    one point three weeks ago;

incredibly, twenty, decency, distance, sooner, definition, withdrawal.

    "

  • According to automatic captions;

"People mistake and delete the problem

only in execution of the problem."

  • Jesus this is terrible. Anyone who enjoys this has serious mental problems that they need to get checked out

  • I love this. Excellent post. Please post more!

  • EEWWWW!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER?! WHY DOES SHE MAKE SUCH CRAPPY AND ANNOYING SONGS?!?!?!

  • Performance art and social commentary. -WOW- I saw Laurie on Letterman several weeks back, got on line and purchased two of her CDs. I just added a link to this performance to my website page about medical reform and medical malpractice. Some people just don't get it. As Jack Nickolson said, "You just can't handle the truth."

    Roger H Strube, MD

  • @wingsailorflorida

Sounds like you're an expert. :P

  • no expert can deal with her problems

  • Annoying song. LOL. the lyrics anyways... I think it could be better instrumental.

  • Laurie Anderson is amazing. A poet. A prophet. A truth-teller. Always ahead of her time.

  • @busybdeb the poetry is fine, but as someone who actually performs avante-garde sound installations and music in galleries, i see very very little aesthetic value to the music if i'm honest.

  • What the hell is this?

  • @superotto80 art

  • This is horrendous. Fair enough to have the poetry on its own, but the music is simply faux-pretentious nonsense.

  • @thentherewas couldnt agree more, saw her on letterman and a puzzled look never left my face

  • Wow! I am going to see her tomorrow and on friday in Sweden. This woman is simply amazing! I dont know other words to describe her. =)

  • @Vindrag ill giv u a few words to describe her. FUKING RETARDED BITCH

  • @LAfant619 You ain't kidding. What a joke. Lou Reed has my sympathies.

  • Comment removed

  • @LAfant619 What a joke

  • @kalinamic listen to entombment of a machine thats real fuking music, this shit makes my ears bleed.

  • Comment removed

  • @LAfant619 I am not a dude and I do not like this. A friend of mine said listen to her. He is a real dip. This stuff sucks the big one sorry to say.

  • She really hits the nail on the head :)

  • Laurie is amazing. I really loved this song when I saw her live few years ago.

  • Spookily like George Carlin...!

  • I agree. She's like a female George Carlin put to music.

  • @GooGoo32

    Exactly

  • That violin kills me every time. Amazing. I saw this live at the Sydney Opera House and it was brilliant.

  • Wtf Anderson giving a social commentary about Oprah?

    How would I care?

    wtf really!

  • Fantastic. She is still great and maybe even better than ever. The story, the point of view, the weird music, the unexpected singsong. Love it!

  • luv that electric violin. tight shit.

  • Großartig!

  • That's brilliant piece of music and lyrics are awesome and funny.I saw her live in Dublin about two years ago and it was sooo good !

  • This is really fuckin cool.

    Wicked!

  • This here ya see is what they call that there art. Laurie is brilliant.

  • no offence, i like her, but that is not really a song is it?

  • (^ difficult ..music.

    (^ poetry with musical background?

(^ perhaps that is the point?

    (^ it's.. a problem.

  • This video is marred by all of these "intellectual" comments below me. I don't think Laurie would like any one of you.

  • Very cool song. Let's get some experts on the problems we're facing. Thank god the idiot in chief is gone.

  • yes,Thank God..and thank God the Savior is NOW in there..we are saved!!!!GLORY!!!

  • Fucking retard. What's your problem, freak?

  • My problem is I am a veteran of the Iraqi and Afghanistan wars, and little fat shits like you don't deserve the protection I give.

    Fatass.

  • That's a racist comment and should be deleted

  • You should be deleted.

  • Very nice I do know the song since when I was 15, but I never see this video!! I do love Laurie Anderson!! Thank you very much for share

  • How old are you now ? it's a new song....

  • This song is a problem .

no expert can deal with this problem .

no seriously i like this even though liking this song is twice the problem for me .

  • AT&T thanks the Blue Dog Democrats with a lavish party - Greenwald, Salon25Aug08 "Theres nothing unusual about this event — other than that it was more forcibly private than most & just a tad more brazenly sleazy. The democracy-themed stagecraft inside the DNC is for public television consumption, but secret little events of this sort are why people are really here. Just as is true in Washington, this is where — & how & by whom — the business of our Government is conducted."

  • Not terribly subtle, but a great song!

  • as subtle as an aerial bombing.

as subtle as rendition & torture.

as subtle as watching a nation scream its 'NUMBER ONE!' while they collapse a global economy & fund WHINSEC to undermine sovereign governments & peoples' unionizers.

    yeah. we need more subtle.

  • Politics might be debatable, but none of those masquerade as/overlap with entertainment.

Double-dipping might not bang the message drum, but depending on perspective, it might serve the art a little better.

Not that I was really lodging a positive or negative opinion. Just an observation.

  • oh yeah, philosophy & art have no place in POLITICS.

yeah, okay. whatever lets you sleep at night...

    *rolls eyes*

  • You seem to be too fixated on an agenda to actually read the context. That might be vaguely ironic, given the subject...

  • oh I'm sorry, you seem to feel you're an *expert* on what is 'suitable' material for an audience's appreciation of art, which is talking about society...

interesting how you prefer limiting discussion to expanding it.

    "its repetitive" gee, really?

ever watch ANY mainstream media 'news'? nah, there's nothing there that would be *double-dipping* or masquerading as entertainment...

  • That's usually what happens when a person isn't interested in expanding on what was initially a vague passing comment.

You still seem to be reading agenda-based interpretations into what I'm saying. I'm surprised you don't find people tuning out more often.

  • wow, you're sooo deeep

I bet you get people to tell you how * big * it is first, too.

G*d forbid anybody ever have a thought or idea that you didn't have first... best you not know about it, right?

oh, wait, maybe you can't hear me through the wind whistling through your ears.

Repetition is part of art, has been for a while.

Try reading "Gilgamesh", if you can. They repeated things, too. That happens in art.

You're good at tuning ideas out, you probably make that excuse a LOT.

  • "The Sushi Soloution?" HEHE :)

  • Excellent.

    Alex

  • And if a country tortures people

And holds citizens without cause or trial

    And sets up military tribunals

This is also not a problem

Unless there's an expert who says

"This is a beginning of a problem"

Naomi Wolf: The End Of America

sure, you feel awful, and you're afraid to leave your house because you need always to have a bathroom you can get to within 30 seconds.

but it's not a problem. really.

  • Thanks for posting! She's a genius! Great to see her still going strong!

  • The electricity just went out...in the city, in the project

in the world? A giant magnetic space born explosion.

    the light.

  • Su música es magnética

  • This is one of the best songs she's ever done!

  • Agree!

  • I think Laurie should be President... She needs to marry David Byrne..

Maybe she is David Byrne's female form..

Is it wrong for me to want to see Laurie nekkid?

  • Laurie Anderson has outdone herself with the brilliant, incisive lyrics and social commentary in this beaut! 9 out of 10 experts agree, Laurie Anderson ROCKS! (And even if they didn't, what do they know?) Wow.
