The trainer isn't being cruel....but the horse is confused because he doesn't like the sound of the whips.

Every single comment about whips being cruel is ridiculous. Using a whip to train a horse is not cruel unless you make it. I've ridden and driven horses my whole life, and I've used a whip in every single avenue of horsemanship. In driving, we go by "Ask, Insist, Demand" with our horses. We ask them to do something, second time tell them, and third time if they haven't responded they get touched with the whip. Not beaten, but touched. This man is doing everything properly. Check your facts.

I bet I'm tho only one besides the other kids tht were at the horse farm who knows this. Well, RJ is accually really mean. Rex is really good with him. I remember wen Rex brought him to the pen to show the ppl his tricks we all had to stand back coz RJ was all stubborn and making scary noises like he was about to hurt someone

@Breyergurl09. It's in upstate new York. It's on a pretty small back street. They're trying to get people to rent it out for the summer. It was fun to pet RJ and the horse tht played Secratariet. I have no idea who Robert Duvall is but his horse lives there. He really liked me. He followed me around. I fed him grass tht he loved. He is grey and big. 

I watched him do that! On their farm he trains them. He whips them to do tricks. For example he will whip RJ's leg to make him tap that leg. I saw him do it

Guys,the horse isn't whipped. It is either snapped in the air or on the ground to encourage the horse to go away from the 'scary' sound. Duh.

i met Rex and RJ. i went to his farm owned by Cari Swanson and met all her horses and 5 icelantic sheepdog. it was soooo cool. i met RJ and Harbor Mist (a.k.a Secratariat and from new movie Arthur) i also met Robert Duval's horse Manuel, who was the best horse evr. he is so sweet. he followed me around, so cute! i have many pictures

@Sarah777k9Free4All lol you really know nothing about this sort of training so how do you know the horse is being whipped? Cause its not. This type of training you need the horse to want to be with you and you can see the horse is eager to please. The whips are to train him using different whip cues and make it easier to communicate. I will tell you one universal thing that trick trainers and liberty horse trainers know. If the horse doesnt love his job, he wont perform.
