Actually, in the movie he never raped or murdered anybody. He was friends with the rapist and took pictures of it because it sexually excited him. The girl gave him an ultimatum: Trying to fight resulting in her running out of the house naked into the arms of his ex wife(whom he still loved and was trying to reconcile with) or kill himself in exchange for the evidence being destroyed. The man, not wanting his ex to find out, killed himself, and the girl smirked and said "or not", then left.
