Miami Vice: best TV Cop series ever...had the privilidge of going to Miami and seeing the place for myself...Wonderful....Great Video, well put together.... 5 stars.
Evan paid the ultimate price for vindication. The moral of this episode is to remain loyal to the people in your life that are loyal to you -- even if it costs your life.
me and my brother used to get high every Friday night at 9 and watch "The Vice" there was nothing like it, the early NYPD Blue episodes were good, with Caruso, and "The Shield" I think are the best cop shows of all times
at the beginning of the series "evan" in miami vice there is some african music (in the original, not in this youtube cast) does anybody know how the song is called?
You might be thinking of the song Biko by Peter Gabriel. I have been trying to find that clip also. I remember it being played at the end of an Evan episode when Evan dies, but can't be sure. That was 25 years ago.
The song at the start is Peter Gabriel's Rhythmn of the Heat, at the end of the episode is Gabriel's Biko. Both on different untitled albums from the 80s.
This may be a late reply, but the original music in the background to the "Evan" scene was Peter Gabriel's "The Rhythm of the Heat". And you're right .. it has a definite African theme to it.
"Go for a Soda" is a song by a guy named Kim Mitchell. I think he went to University of North Texas(which was where the Eagles went to college). I have his tape and am not sure if you can find it on line or CD.
Kim Mitchel is from Toronto Canada (actually born in Sarnia) and fronted a band called Max Webster for years before his solo career. He is now on Q107 Rock Radio in Toronto in the afternoons and still rocks the house. He plays often and still puts out albums.
This has gotta be my all time Favorite, But can anyone help me? At the beggining of the episode, there is an arms deal with even and 2 gang members. There is a song played, cazn anyone tell me what its called (Not the song played on this video, i mean the proper episode)
Fuckin' great episode! RevengeVirus, your pops had good taste in TV. I just ordered seasons 3-5. Can't wait to watch all 122 episodes back to back. The opening of"Evan" with the gold manequins being shot to shit will ALWAYS stick in my head and heart. Will never forget Sonny opening the wall in the episode"Where The Buses Don't Run". Another example of classic Vice!
So way back in the 80's my old man was a huge fan of Miami Vice, he saw this episode and then he had a son. My name's Evan and this is the first time I've ever seen the dude I was named after, thanks.
I remember hearing that this episode was a real wake-up call for Don Johnson. He'd already become accustomed to phoning his performance in most of the time and was jolted out of his T.V. Star complacency by the go-for-broke performance of the man acting opposite him.
the 3 changes that killed miami vice...the elimination of pastel colors, of jan hammer, and the destruction of the ferrari 365 spyder...a perfect example of....if ain't broke don't fix it an1? any? one?
Totally correct. they changed what could not be broken, was broken. And going to the knock of Spyder was a huge mistake, also the losing of the alligator, boat life of crocket etc. killed the fun!!!
o yeah...i forgot all about the cigarette boat/also they killed Detective Lawrence "Larry" Zito, big mistake/your right, when they took out the fun, the show just could not handle the seriousness after awhile/but from 84 to 87 atleast, you could always find me watching nbc 10pm on fridays
"Biko," Peter Gabriel's ballad to Steven Biko, was playing in the background when the bloody sting went down. I don't know how -- or even if -- the music was supposed to match something about the character-role Evan with something about a quite real Steven Biko (imprisoned and then brutally murdered by South African policemen in 1977, during the oppressive apartheid years). Anybody know why the song "Biko" was played for the concluding scenes of the Miami Vice episode "Evan?"
Good choice for the music. As somebody who was in ther teens when they saw this episode aired, the song you chose pretty much sums up Evan finally being free of his guilt over driving a former partnet to suicide.
good work!!!
