@jkirk1626 Actually the germans invented most technology. Nuclear tech, modern flight, with jet and rocket engines. Even fuses, they tested it on Jews in WW2. The computer and a shitload more. The GB only Radar, and perhaps sonar and top-gear.

@SilverTissues The jet engine and electronic computer were invented by British. I never heard anyone say the Germans invented rockets or flight. The Germans contributed a lot to gliders. The French first flew in hot air balloons. The Wright Bros were legit and original. I won't take anything away from the Germans, but they built a lot on what American Goddard innovated. The Chinese didn't have guidance systems, just gun powder.

And the problem with comparing 1 large country to multiple smaller ones combined would be one country could have huge military force thus protecting the rest (britian), then the others focus on all different types of economic activities, whilst america has to do everything as one country. I think that Europe is going down the tube, i'm so glad that the UK didn't join the European currency, at one point i was wanting the UK to join the EU but as time goes on i can see that where better off staying as we are. having been in Europe and seen the prices of things shows me how much taxes have gone through the roof since the Euro currency took over, to be honest with you i think Europe is finished there already bailing each other out.

From an economic standpoint, we are better than the U.S.
But to be a superpower, it must also be strong militarily (EU rank third, we can improve that) and politically. we are too divided, there is no common policy, each country has its own way
