  • Great song

  • that wasn't a frog in the beginning! That was one of ernie's pet tweedle bugs1

  • hey 'elisitah00' kermit started out on sesame street.. !

  • Can anyone explain why is kermit from the MUPPET SHOW appearing on sesame street?

  • I remember we had this on an old recording of Sesame Street- this was the first song that I felt was INSPIRING.

Kermit and Big Bird were the first two characters I ever identified with- they set me on a lifelong journey of- well, LIFE

I'M GONNA WIN, YOU'RE GONNA LOVE THIS FROG!

  • name the best 5 songs by Kermit ?

  • I just decided to search for this. Needed pick-me-up.

    Thanks.

  • go Kermit!

  • It took me years to find this! You are my personal Jesus. I'm serious!

  • @Telephunk45 wow....... heh heh heh.... thank you

  • Truly inspiring song by Kermit and one of his finest moments. It sounds a bit like Sinatra and "My Way" (opening notes at the start).

One of my favourites of his with "Bein' Green". I first saw this on "The Best of Kermit on Sesame Street" video.

  • what if kermit met a dinosaur?

  • @steventean What if?

  • What season did song first appear in? I don't remember seeing it at all during the period when I watched Sesame Street circa 1983-1990.

  • @midcoast007 Probably in the late 70s like 78'.

  • I heard that frog can pee with his pants all the way down.

    Aint that right Pepe!?!?!

  • ♫♪this frog has some climbing 2 do♪♫

  • Kermit always makes me smile. I sure miss him

  • Frank was the man & Kermit was the frog, A true gem.

  • @swordpunisher Frank Oz didn't do Kermit... he was Miss Piggy, Bert (of Ernie and Bert), Sam The American Eagle, Guy Smiley... you mean, Jim Henson - that's the guy behind Kermit. Today it's Steve Whitmire... who does a great job...

  • @wowinkorporated I'm not sure, but I think he meant Frank Sinatra, not Frank Oz(Thanks for the info though)

  • @wowinkorporated He's probably talking about Frank Sinatra, who sang "My Way", and this song is the parody to it. So he's most likely just stating that Frank Sinatra "is the man" and Kermit the Frog "is the frog". its a little clever statement ;)

  • @Micool777 Ahhhh.... okay.... he was referring to Hoboken's own... Il Padrone... the leader of the rat pack... the chairman of the board.... ole blue eyes....

  • another amphibian baritone to watch... ledpenny's frog sinotra sings "I eat it My Way"

  • The back-up singers bring the whole song to life. It's "My Way" for Frogs.

  • Sinatra should've sang this.

  • One of the most memorable Sesame Street songs of my childhood.

  • Yay I found it! This is a absolute gem. I have loved this song since I was a kid. Thanks for posting it.

  • God I miss Jim!

  • An inspration to me - really! :)

  • I remember renting the Best of Kermit on Sesame Street video and seeing this song. Nice song, isn't it?

  • Yes indeed.

  • Yep.

  • I love this song so much.

  • I have been seeking this for an eternity. While most view Rainbow Connection as Kermit's signature song "This Frog" always resonated with me. The arrangements on this song are incredible particularly the backup vocals. In fact, the best part of the song is when the backup vocalists take the lead the next to last verse. The music is played with conviction, passion and respects its audience.

  • I've been trying to get some background on this rarity - and recently discovered it was written by Sam Pottle, who wrote many songs for Sesame Street and the muppets - including co-writing the Muppet Show theme song with Jim Henson. The Sinatra-style tune was written by David Axelrod, a Capitol Records producer, A&R man and respected Jazz musician and composer. The background singers were The Tarnish Brothers, three "anything" muppets who were frequently used as lounge-type background singers.

  • Replying to jzerony's post of 3 months ago, the music for "This Frog" was written by Sam Pottle, who was musical director of Sesame Street at the time, and the lyric was written by David Axlerod, who is a comedy writer and songwriter, but not the David Axelrod (note spelling difference) who is the Capitol Records, readiohead producer--composer.

You can check Muppet Wiki for more info on Pottle, Axlerod or the songs in general.

  • Aha, apparently I've cross-wired my Axel/Axle-rods and caused a factual misfiring! That's something Beeker might've done! Heh heh... thanks for setting that straight, mcguff...

  • You tell 'em Kermie!

  • I remember seeing this one in Spanish.

  • Me too. I saw it a couple of weeks ago on one of the episodes on Sprout on Demand.

  • I have Sprout on Demand too, but I dide'nt know you did. Did you recently get ComCast or something?

  • I wish I had Sprout, but no. I watched it at my aunt's house.

  • Oh, I see.

  • Could you upload the Spanish Video if you have it? If not, then maybe I'll upload it because I have it on my Spanish Tape and maybe I'll transfer it to DVD and get that up for you and everyone else, man.

  • I don't have it in any of the modern episodes I have, nor did I tape it on my aunt's TV. So, sure, you can do it, if you have the tech. that can get the job done.

  • That frog can sing.

  • That facial expression at 1:52 cracks me up!
