  • Burl Ives shud be induct into Disney Legends...:( Why Disney never did this before or after he leaves us... RIP Burl!

  • I loved this movie so much when I was little! I would always borrow it from the library and watch it over and over again :)

  • I grew up with this song without ever knowing what it was from...but I was still convinced that this song is what love should be like. I still am. It doesn't always have to be all crazy and madness. Sometimes it can just be wanting to sit out on the front porch with someone, and steal a kiss or two.

  • ah, so this is what the movie's called. I heard this song from the movie about the Sherman Brothers. It's a really pretty song ^^

  • Saw this more years ago than I care to remember and it still feels like yesterday.

  • I saw this on the movie on The Disney Channal back in the late 80s.

  • All I wanna do-o-o-ooh,

    when the day is thro-o-o-ough,

    xxx I love this

  • @CutandPrintFilms I love it too. It is just so simple and gives you that comfortable feeling that all is right with the world. It is one of those moments in life that you would never forget.

  • I KEEP LOOKING FOR THE BEAUTIFUL SONG "SUMMER MAGIC" WHY IS IT SO HARD TO FIND - I'VE ALWAYS LOVED IT.

  • I seen this as a small child. I really liked the bug song!! That's all I remember. Little did I know a few years later I'd have a huge crush on Charles, Johnny Lancer! Very handsome!

  • Got to grab those few weeks you can sit on a porch in Maine

without insulated coveralls, electric socks & gloves. They have

2 seasons up there: WINTER & AUGUST.

  • Hayley is so cute xx

  • I always loved this song, I was a big fan of Hayley Mills and saw all her films several times over, but until I saw this clip of Summer Magic I'd forgotten that James Stacy was in it. He was so nice-looking, what happened to him in 1973, 10 years after this film was made was a terrible tragedy.

  • Where oh where or what has TV today gone to.... This is lovely!

  • @Lacquerandlace It is lovely isn't it. This is what entertainment should be like.

  • I want the chords for this now :)

  • its okay haley! you get to have a hotter man towards the end of the movie! :)

  • Simply beautiful

  • Really miss Burl Ives...he was one of a kind

  • @bevanne12 He definitely was a one of a kind legend!

  • lovely sunday song :)

  • Higgitus Figgitus from The Sword in the Stone is another great Sherman Brother song!

  • this is lovelly xx

  • @tez601 It is lovely. It gives one that "all is well", warm, comfortable feeling.

  • 2 universal execs didn't like this

  • I remember summer days on the front porch with friends & neighbors. Air conditioning was not as plentiful as it is now so we all would go outside at night to escape the heat. Simpler times with people taking the opportunity to relax and get to know each other. It could be that way again even if we all keep our central AC! Best Wishes to All.

  • @mjcamck71 Yes those days were wonderful. The pace of life was slower, peoples lives were simpler and little things like sitting on the front porch listening to crickets was great entertainment. It is still true, when the evening cools it is often much cooler outside than in the house, unless you have that air-conditioning. I do wish those times would return. I know they are still out there in small towns across America. There are still plenty of front porches around.

  • Absolutely love this wonderful song!:-)

  • @collinwoodgoverness Me too! It just makes you feel so good inside :)

  • When The Sherman Brothers were asked "whats your favorite Sherman Brother song?" Robert B. Sherman said On The Front Porch with You is his all time favorite.

  • Not happy per se, more an overall contented feeling, almost sleepy. Like there's nothing else but this perfect summer night.

  • @brumagemm Exactly, a comfortable, contented feeling that at this moment there is no better place in the whole world to be then right here.

  • I love this song! I heard a modern remake of it recently.. but im not sure who did it. Do you know?

  • tonight we had my extended family over for dinner. we ate outside in the backyard and talked for hours because it was such a gorgeous night... i loved it... it felt so old-fashioned, like the good old days.... it totally reminded me of this song :)

  • @liannaboo14 Sounds like a wonderful evening. A night to treasure!

  • this is a wonderful song to listen to

  • @RepeatThat11 It certainly is. You can't help but feel happy.

  • @LoreneFaith yes you are absolutely right it does make me happy

  • This song reminds me of old times when things were simple and pure..

  • @sdocwgrlcudee It does have that comfortable, simple, good ole days feeling.

  • For some reason this song reminds me of Hawaii...It just has that lazy soothing melody that we in this age of constant electronic stimulation (like you tube) don't get to appreciate anymore. Ahh the simpler times. :0P

  • @JoeDaFivefoota I agree! It has that gentle swaying in the warm breeze feeling.

  • This is such a wonderful song--so soothing and lovely. I also really like the scene itself, how some characters are into it while others just kind of lazily singing along--very true to life. And then there's the love triangle. I love watching Nancy's face: how she keeps looking, then tries not to look, then sings and stops when she gets to "do some sparkin' too." She can't hide her disappointment despite the happy song. Great performance by Hayley Mills (as usual). Thanks so much for posting!

  • i love this song

  • The Sherman Brothers wrote some of the most beautiful timeless songs

  • @ConcreteSurfer420 They sure did. I am still waiting for them to release the movie that they made about them.

  • beautifull

  • This is my favorite song on this movie.

  • I so miss the innocence of 1963.

  • @scottca075 Me too!

  • This was the lullaby I sang to all three of my kids. My very favorite Haley Mills movie!

  • @mooningthesun69 It is such a beautiful song and has such a soothing tune, perfect for a lullaby.

  • @mooningthesun69

this is my lullaby for my little sisiter = ) <3 now my 3 year old sissy sings it to her kitten lol... i love this song..

  • Ooo! i love this song! :)

  • i adore this song even though i have never seen this film

  • You would love the film. Try and see it if you can. The entire film is charming.

  • @misscaliforniastars If you love this song, you would love the whole movie.

  • my grandpa used to sing this when we'd fish off the dock :) i had completely blocked this out of my memory...until now. THANK YOU!

  • What a wonderful memory. You are very lucky to have such moments to remember. Treasure them.

  • I was in the 8th grade when this movie

came out. I don't remember ever hearing

    of it.

There's a nice song about sittin' on the porch

on the Honky Tonk Angels CD w/ Dolly,

    Loretta, and Tammy.

  • I love this song, it's so happy, sappy and comfy. :)

  • This song is so sweet <3

    What a nice childhood song.

  • What a great song! Chords/Tab are on Ultimate guitar tabs.

  • On summer nights I always think of this song...

  • Gives you that warm comforting feeling doesn't it.

  • I was too. We sang so many fun songs in school back then :)

  • Thx so much for posting this memory. I was 12 yrs old when this movie came out. Me and the rest of the girls would go home and act out this movie and everyone wanted to be Hayley Mills. I love all the songs from Summer Magic.

  • The songs are great from this movie. It does bring back so many wonderful memories :)

  • I want to be Julia! <3 I love Deborah Walley.

  • I'd much rather be Nancy. she is so much cooler and Haley Mills is so beautiful in this movie! but that's what is so great about this movie, my sis and I would watch it as kids, and I think she usually wanted to be Nancy too but other little girls would want to be Julia all fancy and glamorous, something for everyone...so much fun. and the best music!

  • yeah , but Nancy was so bad-a$s in this movie for a young woman...before they even coined the term! and certainly not in a action movie martial arts kicking a$s way, in a more subtle lady like way,..but all the same.

  • In Italian this song is beautiful too! "Che di meglio c'è / son felice se / mi seggo qui / in veranda con teeeee" !!!!!

  • good boulting thriller.....her first husband produced it and it stars the same boy as in the family way....if you've seen her in that one.

  • I love this little song....it's so pretty and sweet. Thank you for posting it. I can't tell you what a joy it has brought me to listen to it. Over....and over....and over....and...well, you get the picture.

  • It is a charming song and a charming movie. It is one of those that gives you a warm feeling inside. I am so glad that you enjoy it :)

  • I love this movie too.....I am a big Hayley Mills fan and named my youngest for her...before the name became so commonplace...I am guessing you liked her too

  • I adore her :)

Have you seen one of her lesser known films, "Whistle Down The Wind"? If not, see if you can find it.

  • Not that I recall, I'll have to look for that one but I recently purchased Twisted Nerve...have you ever seen that one?

  • I will have to look for Twisted Nerve, I have not seen that one, thanks.

  • i adore HAyley Mills, have you seen the parent trap, in one version it is the best as there are TWO Hayley Mills.

  • I love all of Hayley's movies. What could be better than two Hayley's!

  • Me too, It explains how I want it to be when I get older, and I'm sitting on the front porch of our house looking out with the grandkids all around... kind of a dream of a simpler time...

  • I would like a time machine....I'd go find that yellow house in Beulah!

  • 2:35 RICK ASTLEY/TIN TIN

  • This was my first record,it drove my and dad nuts

  • :) I can understand why you would play them over and over. Great music and songs!

  • Its sad that the Disney movies went downhill since those golden days!

  • I agree! These movies were truly magical and had no computer graphics.

  • Yea, I still miss those kinds of movies. So innocent!

  • The Sherman Brothers sure could write some great music!!!!!!!!

  • They wrote so many of the great Disney classic songs. A lot of those films would not have been so magical without them!

  • This is one of my very favorites a wonderful song in a great movie , I love to sing along whenever I hear it, takes me back to the first time I saw the movie as a kid, Happy Times, thankyou so much for the memorie, I've faved it so I can hear it over and over. Great post. Thnks again!
